Lepidium sativum L. (family Brassicaceae), is an underutilized medicinal plant with worldwide distribution. In Ethiopia, L. sativum occurs in all regions and agro-ecologies at different altitudinal ranges. The study was conducted to assess the genetic diversity of L. sativum population from Ethiopia using inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) marker. Molecular data generated from ISSR bands recorded was used for computing gene diversity, percent polymorphism and Shannon diversity index and AMOVA. Moreover, the ISSR data was used to construct unweighted pair group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) and principal coordinated analysis (PCO) plot using Jaccard’s coefficient.  Tigray and Amhara population showed higher gene diversity (0.24) and Shannon information index (0.35). All UPGMA, neighbor-joining (NJ) and PCO analysis showed very weak grouping among individuals collected from the same regions. Generally, Tigray and Amhara regions showed moderate to high diversity in ISSR analysis. Different geographical regions of Ethiopia, showed different level of variation; thus conservation priority should be given for those regions that have high genetic diversity. This result also indicates the presence of genetic diversity that can be exploited to improve the productivity of L. sativum in Ethiopia. Keywords: Genetic diversity, ISSR, Lepidium sativum

Merta Kusuma, Tm. Said:The purpose of this research is to know the influence of motivation, work environment, selection, and training toward employee's performance in PT BIO Nusantara Teknologi. Population of this research was 550 permanent employees in PT BIO Nusantara Teknologi. Sampling techniques that used in this research were Nonprobability and Insidental sampling. To determined the sample used Solvin formula, so there was 84 people as samples. Data collection techniques were observation questionnaire, and interview. Data analysis techniques used by researcher were qualitative and quantitative analysis which consists of a multiple regression model and coefficient of determination. The result of this research used regression test Y= 6.003 + 0.230 X1 + 0.134 X2 + 0.188 X3 + 0.232 X4. While the result of determination R = 0.472 and R2 = 0223. T test significant level < 0,05 so, there was significant influence, if significant level > 0,05 so, there was not significant influence, the result of each t sig was 0,021 for motivation variable, 0,034 for work environment variable, 0,045 for selection, and 0,049 for training variable. The four variables were < 0,05 so there was significant influence. Next, F test, if F sig < 0,05 and (Fanova > F table) so, Ho was rejected ad H1 was accepted, the result of F sig=(0,000) < 0,05 and (5,673>2,337)so, the regression model can be used to predict employee's performance variable or it can be said that the motivation variable (X1), work environment(X2), selection(X3), and training(X4) were influenced employee's performance(Y) together in PT BIO Nusantara Teknologi

    The Indian mackerel

The Indian mackerel forms the major pelagic resources along the Indian coast Its trend of production fiuctuates in space and time. Several scientists have conducted considerable research works on its biology, fishery and population structure from various parts of its distributional range at different periods of time. Its fishing pattern witnessed large changes in response to mechanisation, motorisation, innovative gear and synthetic nets, together with extension of fishing to deeper grounds. The paper reviews the status of mackerel fisheries research that were carried out in CMFRI since 1950 through regular monitoring programme for its sustainable harves

Excitonic quasiparticles in a spin-orbit Mott insulator

In condensed matter systems, out of a large number of interacting degrees of freedom emerge weakly coupled particles, in terms of which most physical properties are described. For example, Landau quasiparticles (QP) determine all electronic properties of a normal metal. The lack of identification of such QPs is major barrier for understanding myriad exotic properties of correlated electrons, such as unconventional superconductivity and non-Fermi liquid behaviours. Here, we report the observation of a composite particle in a Mott insulator Sr2IrO4---and exciton dressed with magnons---that propagates with the canonical characteristics of a QP: a finite QP residue and a lifetime longer than the hopping time scale. The dynamics of this charge-neutral bosonic excitation mirrors the fundamental process of the analogous one-hole propagation in the background of ordered spins, for which a well-defined QP has never been observed. The much narrower linewidth of the exciton reveals the same intrinsic dynamics that is obscured for the hole and is intimately related to the mechanism of high temperature superconductivity.Comment: submitted versio

Fishery, biology and stock assessment of skipjack tuna in Indian seas

    Get PDF
In India the oceanic skipjack, Katsuwonus pelamis (Linnaeus) forms a significant fishery only in Lakshadweep islands. Here itself the catch is only an insignificant component in the lotal annual catch of this species from western Indian Ocean. The infrastructural facilities now available in these islands are insufficient to expect any major improvement in its fishery. As this group of islands arc increasingly coming to focus in the national context with a view for further devlopment, the fisheries sector will have to get its due importance

This study aims to determine concentration of zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb) metals on the sea water in coastal areas Mamboro District of North Palu. The method used was a spectrophotometry using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Seawater samples were taken from three different points, is A (5 meter), B (10 meter), and C (15 meter) within ± 5 m from the coastline, and sampling started from the edge of the harbor of cooking oil companies. Results of the analysis of zinc contents from the three points are 0.155 mg/L at point A, 0.126 mg/L at point B, and 0.109 mg/L at point C, respectively. Moreover, the lead contents are 0.35 mg/L at point A, 0.391 mg/L at point B, and 0.433 mg/L at point C , respectively. Concentration of zinc metal on the sea water in Mamboro coastal marine ranged from 0.109 mg/L – 0.155 mg/L, which is higher than the threshold value zinc metal, 0.01 mg/L, where concentration of lead metal on the sea water in Mamboro coastal marine ranged from 0.35 mg/L – 0.433 mg/L, which is higher than the threshold value of lead metal, 0.025 mg/L

On the time dependent Schwarzschild - de Sitter spacetime

An imperfect cosmic fluid with energy flux is analyzed. Even though its energy density ρ\rho is positive, the pressure p=ρp = -\rho due to the fact that the metric is asymptotically de Sitter. The kinematical quantities for a nongeodesic congruence are computed. The scalar expansion is time independent but divergent at the singularity r=2mr = 2m. Far from the central mass mm and for a cosmic time tˉ<<H1\bar{t} << H^{-1}, the heat flux qq does not depend on Newton's constant GG.Comment: 8 pages, no figures, Sections 3 and 5 enlarged, one reference adde
