Plant community distribution is associated with environmental factors, particularly, the soil properties of habitats. This study was conducted to determine the effect of soil properties on the association of tree communities within three distinct habitats in a semi-deciduous forest in Perlis State Park (PSP), Perlis.  Eighteen plots of 40 m × 60 m (0.24 ha each) with sampling areas of 1.92 ha (8 plots) in Setul Formation, 0.96 ha (4 plots) in Granite and 1.44 ha (6 plots) in Kubang Pasu Formation (totalling 4.32 ha) were established at the PSP. All trees with 5.0 cm and above diameter at breast height (dbh) were enumerated, while the top soil samples were collected from each plot for soil analyses. A total of 412 tree species, 207 genera, and 68 families were recorded; 270 tree species from 152 genera and 57 families in the Setul forest; 204 tree species of 130 genera and 50 families in the Granite forest; and 109 tree species from 76 genera and 31 families in the Kubang Pasu forest. Euphorbiaceae was the most represented family at Setul, Granite and Kubang Pasu with 36, 19 and 12 species, respectively. Soil properties significantly varied among the study sites.  Setul had loam, Kubang Pasu had clay-loam, and Granite had the sandy-loam texture.  The soils were acidic, and had low to high concentrations of available nutrients. Ordinations using canonical correspondence analysis indicated that the soil factors play an important role in the distribution and diversity of plants in these forest habitats

Disasters are events that threaten and disrupt people’s lives and livelihoods due to natural and/or non-natural factors as well as human factors that cause human casualties, environmental damage, property losses, and psychological. The implementation of disaster preparedness has not been carried out comprehensively and continuously throughout Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of landslide preparedness education interventions in increasing the landslide preparedness capacity of households in the Sukabumi Regency. The minimum sample was 118 for each intervention and control group. Random sampling was used for sampling technique. Data analysis was done using an independent t-test. The results of the study mean that the difference in knowledge scores showed a significant difference between the intervention group and the control group (F = 23.41, p-value = 0.000). In addition, the average difference in household preparedness scores for landslides showed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups (F = 190.08, p-value = 0.000). After the intervention, the intervention group’s household disaster preparedness improved significantly. Meanwhile, no significant increase was observed in the control group’s household disaster preparedness score after the intervention. Household disaster preparedness training may have an impact on the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of individuals and families. Trainings such as online and simulation using live or recorded demonstrations should be developed and evaluated for their effectiveness. Adolescents with disabilities or special needs are very vulnerable to various health problems including reproductive health. In helping to maintain reproductive health, of course, there needs to be other factors that can support the achievement of reproductive health maintenance such as sources of information, knowledge, and attitudes. This study aims is to determine the influence of sources of information, knowledge, and attitudes toward the reproductive health of blind adolescents in the Sukabumi. A source of information is a set of useful information to meet the need for information or news for the wider community. Knowledge is the result of knowing and this happens after a person performs sensing of an object. Attitude is the readiness to react to an object in a certain environment as a passion for an object. Behavior is a person’s response or reaction to a stimulus. This type of research is correlational with the cross-sectional approach. Total sampling was used for the population and sample of 42 blind adolescents in Sukabumi. Statistical analysis was done using multiple linear regression. The results showed that there was a significant influence of information sources on the reproductive health behavior of blind adolescents (p-value 0.000), there was a relationship of knowledge on the reproductive health behavior of blind adolescents (p-value 0.000), and there was knowledge of attitudes toward reproductive health behaviors of blind adolescents (p-value 0.000). There is a simultaneous influence of sources of information, knowledge and attitudes towards reproductive health behaviors of blind adolescents (p-value 0.000). It can be concluded that sources of information, knowledge, and attitudes have an influence on the reproductive health behavior of adolescents with visual disabilities. This study’s findings can be used to further investigate reproductive health in blind adolescents. An even and odd situation for the multiplier of scalar multiplication with pseudo τ-adic non-adjacent form

    Get PDF
An algorithm was developed for elliptic scalar multiplication (SM) on Koblitz curve where the multiplier of SM is in the form of Pseudo τ-adic Non-Adjacent Form (pseudoTNAF). This expansion is equivalent to τ-adic Non-Adjacent Form (TNAF) and Reduced τ-adic Non-Adjacent Form (RTNAF) that was produced by Solinas in the year 1997 and 2000 respectively. Some properties for the multiplier of SM was proposed in order to guess the secret message. For the same reason, the objective of this paper is to give five new properties for such multiplier

Patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) must spare four hours a day, three days a week, irrespective of the patient’s schedule. Thus, it is common for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients to be depressed, and with the progression of CKD, their overall quality of life (QOL) could decrease. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the relationship between depression and QOL among patients undergoing hemodialysis in Indonesia. This cross-sectional research was conducted at a West Java Province, Indonesia, public health center, from August to December 2020. The inclusion criteria of participants were over the age of 20 and having been undergoing HD for at least six months. Depression was evaluated using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and QOL was measured using The Kidney Disease and Life Quality-SFTM v1.3 Survey (The KDQOL-SFTM v1.3). Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation between depression and QOL. There were 190 respondents out of 225 (response rate: 84.4%), including 100 patients with CKD stages 1-3 (response rate: 75.6%). No correlation was found between demographic characteristics and QOL in HD patients (p > 0.05). The Indonesian KDQOL-SFTM v1.3 was associated with the BDI-II, and r ranged from 00.354 to 0.486. In order to increase QOL, it is recommended that depression is treated with routine follow-up in a collaborative care approach because intensive treatment is not normally reproduced in real-world practices. Pseudo τ - adic non adjacent form for scalar multiplication on Koblitz curves

    Get PDF
In ECC, scalar multiplication is the dominant operation, namely computing nP from a point P on an elliptic curve where the multiplier n is an integer, defined as the point resulting from adding P+P+⋯+P, n times. The τ-NAF proposed by Solinas, is one of the most efficient algorithms to compute scalar multiplications on Koblitz curves. In this paper, we introduced an equivalent multiplier to τ-NAF namely pseudo TNAF. It is based on the idea of transforming the τ-NAF expression to a reduced τ-NAF that has been done by some researchers. It can eliminate the elliptic doublings in scalar multiplication method, and double the number of elliptic additions. We provide the formula for obtaining a total of lattice points in Voronoi region of modulo r+st where r+sτ an element of ring Z(τ). This helps us to find all the multipliers n that based on τ-NAF. We also discuss the estimation of operational costs when using pseudo TNAF as a multiplier of scalar multiplication

A reduced τ-adic Naf (RTNAF) representation for an efficient scalar multiplication on Anomalous Binary Curves (ABC)

Elliptic curve cryptosystems (ECC) provides better security for each bit key utilized compared to the RSA cryptosystem. For this reason, it is projected to have more practical usage than the RSA. In ECC, scalar multiplication (or point multiplication) is the dominant operation, namely, computing nP from a point P on an elliptic curve, where n is an integer defined as the point resulting from adding P + P + ... + P , n times. However, for practical uses, it is very important to improve the efficiency of the scalar multiplication. Solinas (1997) proposes that the τ-adic Non-Adjacent Form (τ-NAF) is one of the most efficient algorithms used to compute scalar multiplications on Anomalous Binary curves. In this paper, we give a new property (i.e., Theorem 1.2) of τ-NAF(n) representation for every length, l. This is useful for evaluating the maximum and minimum norms occurring among all length-l elements of Z(τ). We also propose a new cryptographic method by using randomization of a multiplier n to ñ an element of Z(τ). It is based on τ-NAF. We focused on estimating the length of RTNAF(ñ) expansion by using a new method

    Get PDF
A study on the phenology of Gonystylus bancanus (ramin melawis) was conducted in Pekan Forest Reserve, Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia, which covers areas of virgin and logged-over forests. Observations revealed that the flowering of G. bancanus was supra-annual. The smallest G. bancanus tree to flower was 29 cm in diameter at breast height (dbh) and was located in a logged-over site. Most trees that flowered had larger dbh of more than 40 cm and were found in logged-over and virgin forests. A total of 71-86 days was recorded for full development from the budding stage to mature fruit formation. The budding phase was quite long, extending for more than a month. However, it took only about two weeks for the flowers to become fruits. The flowers of G. bancanus were pollinated by thrips (Heterothripts sp.) and stingless bees (Trigona canifrons and T. laeviceps), while aphids (Aphis sp.), Prevost's squirrels (Callosciurus prevostii) and plantain squirrels (C. notatus) were identified as predators of G. bancanus flowers and fruits. Gonystylus bancanus seeds were mainly dispersed by gravity but the Malayan flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus) was also observed to disperse the fruits. Other fruit bats, namely, Cynopterus sphinx, Megaerops ecaudatus and Penthetor lucasi were also identified as potential seed dispersal agents of G. bancanus
