Classes of Gaussian States for Squeezing Estimation

This study explores a detailed examination of various classes of single- and two-mode Gaussian states as key elements for an estimation process, specifically targeting the evaluation of an unknown squeezing parameter encoded in one mode. To quantify the efficacy of each probe, we employ the concept of Average Quantum Fisher Information (AvQFI) as a robust metric to quantify the optimal performance associated with specific classes of Gaussian states as input. For single-mode probes, we identify pure squeezed single-mode states as the optimal choice and we explore the correlation between Coherence and AvQFI. Also, we show that pure two-mode squeezed states exhibit behavior resembling their single-mode counterparts for estimating the encoded squeezing parameter, and we studied the interplay between entanglement and AvQFI. This paper presents both analytical and numerical results that encompass all the studied classes, offering valuable insights for quantum estimation processes.Comment: 26 pages, 9 figures, comments are welcom

Application of the Quick Tool Exchange (QTE) System in Building Maintenance

Quick Tool Exchange (QTE) acts to reduce losses and failures during the production process and throughput time, contributing to rapid response to market changes. The object of the work is a private school of the Municipality of Porto Velho, capital of Rondônia. The general objective is to study the building maintenance of a private school in the Municipality of Porto Velho / RO, focusing on QTE technology. Therefore, the specific objectives were to characterize the building maintenance in the study (1); compare the operational processes applied in the face of QTE concepts (2); and propose innovation for the operational improvement of building maintenance in operation (3). The building maintenance has a clear importance, since its compliance contributes to the preservation of life and health of users of any construction. Both the preventive and the corrective have been receiving the importance due to it, especially the preventive one, since this is always cheaper in comparison to the corrective one, since besides the damages caused to the physical structure of the building, there can exist to the users present in the occurrence of the fact. The methodological procedures consisted in carrying out a bibliographic survey followed by a case study. The results demonstrated measures approved and not approved by the QTE, suggesting simple innovations, but with significant consequences to the improvement of service rendering, minimizing costs in the area of building maintenance. This study is of interest to businessmen in general, especially the public or private educational sector, and those involved with the area of Production Administration

Image classification understanding with model inspector tool

This paper proposes a novel method called U Analysis for interpreting the behavior of image classification models. The method allows the evaluation of the interdependence between patches of information in an image and their impact on the model’s classification performance. In addition, the paper introduces the Model Inspector tool that allows users to manipulate various visual features of an input image to understand better the model’s robustness to different types of information. This work aims to provide a more comprehensive framework for model interpretation and help researchers and practitioners better understand the strengths and weaknesses of deep learning models in image classification. We perform experiments with CIFAR-10 and STL-10 datasets using the ResNet architecture. The findings show that ResNet model trained with CIFAR-10 and STL-10 presents counter-intuitive feature interdependence, which is seen as a weakness. This work can contribute to developing even more advanced tools for analyzing and understanding deep learning models.EC - European Commission(UIDB/00319/2020)Supported by the doctoral Grant PRT/BD/154311/2022 financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and with funds from European Union, under MIT Portugal Progra

Versatile Gaussian probes for squeezing estimation

    Get PDF
We consider an instance of “black-box” quantum metrology in the Gaussian framework, where we aim to estimate the amount of squeezing applied on an input probe, without previous knowledge on the phase of the applied squeezing. By taking the quantum Fisher information (QFI) as the figure of merit, we evaluate its average and variance with respect to this phase in order to identify probe states that yield good precision for many different squeezing directions. We first consider the case of single-mode Gaussian probes with the same energy, and find that pure squeezed states maximize the average quantum Fisher information (AvQFI) at the cost of a performance that oscillates strongly as the squeezing direction is changed. Although the variance can be brought to zero by correlating the probing system with a reference mode, the maximum AvQFI cannot be increased in the same way. A different scenario opens if one takes into account the effects of photon losses: coherent states represent the optimal single-mode choice when losses exceed a certain threshold and, moreover, correlated probes can now yield larger AvQFI values than all single-mode states, on top of having zero variance
