Ship Routing with Pickup and Delivery for a Maritime Oil Transportation System: MIP Modeland Heuristics

This paper examines a ship routing problem with pickup and delivery and time windows for maritime oil transportation, motivated by the production and logistics activities of an oil company operating in the Brazilian coast. The transportation costs from offshore platforms to coastal terminals are an important issue in the search for operational excellence in the oil industry, involving operations that demand agile and effective decision support systems. This paper presents an optimization approach to address this problem, based on a mixed integer programming (MIP) model and a novel and exploratory application of two tailor-made MIP heuristics, based on relax-and-fix and time decomposition procedures. The model minimizes fuel costs of a heterogeneous fleet of oil tankers and costs related to freighting contracts. The model also considers company-specific constraints for offshore oil transportation. Computational experiments based on the mathematical models and the related MIP heuristics are presented for a set of real data provided by the company, which confirm the potential of optimization-based methods to find good solutions for problems of moderate sizes

Nesting patterns of bees (Apidae) in brick walls in southern Brazil

Aiming to verify the nesting pattern of solitary bee species, a study was performed (October 2012 to March 2013) in Joinville, SC, southern Brazil, along a brick wall. There were found the following species Melitoma segmentaria (Emphorini), Caenohalictus incertus (Halictini)and Leiopodus lacertinus (Protepeolini). 147 nests showed activity in the sampling period (118 of C. incertus, 29 of M. segmentaria), 98% located in the masonry. For M. segmentaria, 29 active nests were observed (density of 4.53/ m2), with an average distance of 12.22 cmbetween them, 17 nests between the ground and 90 cm high, istributed in aggregated form (R = 0.004, p <0.02). The nests opening measured on average 0.9 cm in diameter (n =29), two of them with a mud tower entrance 0.6 cm high, with a smooth inner wall and a outer, rough. For C. incertus, 118 active nests were observed (density of 18.43/ m2), with a mean distance of 8.18 cm from each other, 98 nests between the ground and 70 cm high, distributed in aggregated form (R = 0.066, p <0.09). Individuals of L. lacertinus were noticed in all observations days, at the entrance of nests of M. segmentaria. Anthrax cf. virgo emerged from M. segmentaria nests

Mudanças no estilo de vida enfrentadas por pacientes em condições crônicas de saúde

O presente estudo objetivou identificar mudanças ocorridas no estilo de vida de indivíduos em condições crônicas. As informações foram obtidas de 45 indivíduos em unidades de internação e ambulatório hospitalar através de um questionário fechado e uma entrevista semi-estruturada. Os resultados mostraram que esses informantes, a partir do diagnóstico da doença, passaram a ter: 1) Novas incumbências, incluindo fazer regime de tratamento, conhecer a doença e lidar com incômodos; 2) Perdas nas relações sociais, financeiras, na capacidade de locomoção, de trabalho e nas atividades de lazer; 3) Ameaças à aparência individual, à vida e à preservação da esperança

HISTORICAL AND CONCEPTUAL PERSPECTIVE ON HEALTH PROMOTION

A reflection is developed on helth promotion as an effort to build a conceptual framework capable of instructing the development of a research proposal that intends to anser the question "what Florianópolis health institutions do in order to promote people’s health?". The text emphasizes the broad conceptual basis of helth promotion as opposed to the concept of disease prevention. Some historical aspects are covered with particular focus placed on the Ottawa Conference; a few health promoting actions are presented and the nurse’s role is affirmed along with debates on the theme.trata-se de uma reflexão sobre a promoção da saúde na tentativa de construir um marco conceitual para orientar o desenvolvimento de um projeto de pesquisa sobre o que as instituições de saúde de Florianópolis-SC fazem para promover a saúde das pessoas. Destaca-se no texto a abrangência conceitual da promoção da saúde, contrastando com o conceito de prevenção de doença. São abordados alguns aspectos históricos, com destaque especial para a Conferência de Ottawa. Evaluation of the bibliometric scenario of the Delphi method with Brazilian affiliations

The Delphi method is a technique used to reach consensus among specialists in an area who will be able to predict demands or analyze conjunctures about strategic themes. Within this context, the present work consisted of a bibliometric evaluation performed in the Scopus database with the aid of VOSviewer software, prioritizing journals with an affiliation of Brazilian institutions and that made use of the Delphi method for the development of their research. Data collection went through validation stages, and the results obtained showed that this tool was used in several areas of knowledge, with great emphasis on health, more specifically in Medicine, Nursing, and Public health. Together, these three areas accounted for more than 60% of publications made available

IDENTIFICATION OF CANINE VISCERAL LEISHMANIASIS IN A PREVIOUSLY UNAFFECTED AREA BY CONVENTIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES AND CELL-BLOCK FIXATION

After the report of a second case of canine visceral leishmaniasis (CVL) in São Bento da Lagoa, Itaipuaçu, in the municipality of Maricá, Rio de Janeiro State, an epidemiological survey was carried out, through active search, totaling 145 dogs. Indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and rapid chromatographic immunoassay based on dual-path platform (DPP(r)) were used to perform the serological examinations. The parasitological diagnosis of cutaneous fragments was performed by parasitological culture, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry. In the serological assessment, 21 dogs were seropositive by IFA, 17 by ELISA, and 11 by DPP(r), with sensitivity of 66.7%, 66.7% and 50%, and specificity of 87.2%, 90.2% and 94%, respectively for each technique. The immunohistochemistry of bone marrow using the cell-block technique presented the best results, with six positive dogs found, three of which tested negative by the other parasitological techniques. Leishmania sp. was isolated by parasitological culture in three dogs. The detection of autochthonous Leishmania infantum in Itaipuaçu, and the high prevalence of seropositive dogs confirm the circulation of this parasite in the study area and alert for the risk of expansion in the State of Rio de Janeiro

PARTNESHIP – A STRATEGY FOR HEALTH PROMOTION

Experiência de parceria do Núcleo de Convivência em Situações Crônicas de Saúde (NUCRON), a Associação Catarinenese de Ostomizados (ACO) e do Programa de Assistência ao Ostomizado (PAO). O processo de parceria iniciou em 1989, durante o qual foram conduzidos quatro projetos conjuntos, com enfoques na descoberta das potencialidades dos grupos e na expansão da ACO. A idéia de parceria foi criada para envolver os associados da ACO num processo de desenvolvimento de suas potencialidades individuais e coletivas e, com isso, fortalecer e expandir a ACO.The focus is on the partnership experience of the NUCRON (Nucleus ps Studies on chronical conditions.) ACO (Ostomized Association of the State of Santa Catarina) and the PAO (Program of Ostomized Patient Care). The partnership has been in progress since 1989, period in wich four research projects were conduted. The main partnership purpose was to envolve the ostomized patientes in a process os discovering their own potentialities in order to transform the ACO in a powerful Association

Non-puerperal uterine inversion due to submucous myoma in a young woman: a case report

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Inversion of the uterus is an uncommon complication of the puerperium and it is an even rarer complication of the non-puerperal period. A submucous myoma is mostly the cause of the non-puerperal inversion but diagnosis can be difficult. In young women, non-puerperal uterine inversion is likely associated with a malignancy.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>A 19-year-old nulliparous woman presented with abnormal vaginal bleeding, dysmenorrhoea, and a large mass protruding from her cervix. The mass was interpreted as a prolapsed pedunculated submucosal myoma. After extirpation of the mass by clamping and twisting its pedicle, a laparotomy was required under suspicion of a uterine rupture. The diagnosis was confirmed and the patient's uterus could be preserved. Pathological examination revealed a submucous myoma. The uterine inversion happened when the uterus retracted to expel the submucous myoma with fundal attachment. By extirpating the stalk the fundus was also resected, causing a uterine rupture.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We report a case of non-puerperal uterine inversion associated with a benign submucous myoma. Non-puerperal uterine inversion is very uncommon in women of reproductive age and is usually caused by a malignant tumour. However, uterine-sparing surgery should be attempted in young women until the final pathology is known.</p

A CHARACTERISTIC OF LINKING RESEARCH PROJECT WITH NURSING CARE ACTIVITIES

Comunicamos uma experiência de processo envolvendo pesquisa, assistência e educação através da parceria do NUCRON, ACO e PAO com o propósito de mobilizar uma organização de grupos de pessoas ostomizadas e de profissionais da saúde para a intercomunicação de suportes para articulação em redes de serviços e associações. Utilizamos vários métodos e técnicas de trabalho tais como: mapeamento, seminários, questionários, reuniões, entrevistas, cursos, discussões em grupos. Os resultados permitiram: 1) visualização da distribuição dos núcleos do Estado de Santa Catarina onde os ostomizados recebem assistência; 2) Ter uma aproximação com a realidade vivenciada pelos ostomizados, e 3) conhecer o grande potencial do grupo de ostomizados e o desejo de implementar as várias decisões assumidas como compromisso o processo.The purpose of this study was to conduct a group organizational process with ostomized patients and health professionals in order to start an intercommunication system between the health service personal and the client association members. This experience has involved a research project, some education activities and a nursing care process. We have utilized various procedures such as: seminars, meetings, interview, questionairs and courses. The resoults showed the health facilities distribution; the ostomized patients reality and their potentialities for implementing the intercommunication process according to their undertaken decisions
