Energy minimising configurations of pre-strained multilayers

We investigate energetically optimal configurations of thin structures with a pre-strain. Depending on the strength of the pre-strain we consider a whole hierarchy of effective plate theories with a spontaneous curvature term, ranging from linearised Kirchhoff to von K\'arm\'an to linearised von K\'arm\'an theories. While explicit formulae are available in the linearised regimes, the von K\'arm\'an theory turns out to be critical and a phase transition from cylindrical (as in linearised Kirchhoff) to spherical (as in von linearised K\'arm\'an) configurations is observed there. We analyse this behavior with the help of a whole family $(\mathcal{I}^{\theta}_{\rm vK})_{\theta \in (0,\infty)}$ of effective von K\'arm\'an functionals which interpolates between the two linearised regimes. We rigorously show convergence to the respective explicit minimisers in the asymptotic regimes $\theta \to 0$ and $\theta \to \infty$. Numerical experiments are performed for general $\theta \in (0,\infty)$ which indicate a stark transition at a critical value of $\theta$

Pode o triângulo rosa falar? : O lugar da perseguição aos homossexuais nas exposições de longa duração de dois museus do Holocausto

The article analyzes the place of cisgender gay men persecuted by the Nazis, generally identified as “pink triangles”, in the long-term exhibitions of two of the most important institutions in the world dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the memory of the Holocaust: the American Museum of the Holocaust (Washington D.C.) and the Yad Vashem (Jerusalem). Based on discussions about trauma and the internationalization of the memory of the Holocaust, it identifies some places occupied by these victims: the place "not to say I didn't mention them", the place of "other victims", the place "annex" or the simply place of silence. In general, it shows that these subjects have been gaining space in the Holocaust memorial landscape, but they are still presented in a sparse, punctual and elliptical way, without interfering in the general interpretation of the phenomenon. Finally, it presents questions to motivate the debate about a more complex representation of the “pink triangles” in the museum narratives of the Holocaust.O artigo analisa o lugar dos homens cisgêneros gays perseguidos pelos nazistas, em geral identificados como “triângulos rosa”, nas exposições de longa duração de duas das mais importantes instituições do mundo dedicadas à preservação e difusão da memória do Holocausto: o Museu Americano do Holocausto (Washington D.C.) e o Yad Vashem (Jerusalém). Com base em discussões sobre trauma e internacionalização da memória do Holocausto, identifica alguns lugares ocupados por essas vítimas: o lugar “para não dizer que não falei deles”, o lugar de “outras vítimas”, o lugar “de anexo” ou o simplesmente o lugar de silêncio. De modo geral, mostra que esses sujeitos vêm ganhando espaço na paisagem memorial do Holocausto, mas ainda são apresentados de maneira escassa, pontual e elíptica, sem interferir na interpretação geral do fenômeno. Por fim, apresenta questionamentos para motivar o debate sobre uma representação mais complexa dos triângulos rosa nas narrativas museais do Holocausto

A seguir, analisa algumas controvérsias que cercam os estudos biográficos na atualidade, propondo alternativas para superá-las.The article deals, initially, with the path of the biographic genre in the field of historical knowledge according to the notion of “regimes of historicity” as it is proposed by François Hartog. De quanta memória precisa uma democracia? Uma reflexão sobre as relações entre práticas memoriais e práticas democráticas no Brasil atual

The present article, structured in essay format, seeks to analyze the relationship between memorial practices and democratic practices, focusing on memorial projects in Brazil regarding the civil-military dictatorship, which took place in the country from 1964 to 1985. To do so, this paper examines places of memory and other forms of expression by the civil society that evoke this authoritarian past, conceived as part of the transitional justice. It also affirms the need for an exemplary memory related to the dictatorship as a key element towards the process of building a strong democracy and enabling full citizenship.O artigo, construído na forma de ensaio, busca analisar a relação entre práticas de memória e práticas democráticas, tendo como eixo projetos memoriais realizados no Brasil atual em relação à ditadura civil-militar iniciada em 1964.
