This paper investigates the automatic induction of spatial attention from the visual observation of objects manipulated on a table top. In this work, space is represented in terms of a novel observer-object relative reference system, named Local Cardinal System, defined upon the local neighbourhood of objects on the table. Luntiang Basura (Green Wastes): A Case Study of Three Filipino Ecopreneurs in Upcycling

Currently, the Philippines is facing the challenges of devastating disasters brought about by accelerated global warming that continuously fuel the unthinkable climate change problems. Pollution has been identified as one of the major contributors to global warming. In the light of this gargantuan problem, alternative business processes must be resorted to for humankind to continue our existence in this planet. This paper aims to show, by way of a case study, that engaging in upcycling business, a more creative and upscale recycling, can be financially rewarding, socially responsible and at the same time help protect the environment by impacting the zero-waste campaign in a major manner – i.e., helping solve the solid waste problem. The case study features three well-known, passionate ecopreneur/upcyclist subjects who concretize and attest to the sustainability of the environment by using wastes as primary raw material inputs in their production process, producing beautiful artisan goods that command high price in the market; thus, providing desired profitability forthe company. On the Uq[sl(2)]{\cal{U}}_{q}[sl(2)] Temperley-Lieb reflection matrices

This work concerns the boundary integrability of the spin-s ${\cal{U}}_{q}[sl(2)]$ Temperley-Lieb model. A systematic computation method is used to constructed the solutions of the boundary Yang-Baxter equations. For $s$ half-integer, a general $2s(s+1)+3/2$ free parameter solution is presented. It turns that for $s$ integer, the general solution has $2s(s+1)+1$ free parameters. Moreover, some particular solutions are discussed.Comment: LaTex 17 page

Aborda um conjunto de espécies estudadas pela Embrapa Florestas, consideradas as mais relevantes, e as suas respectivas exigências climáticas para se obterem altas produtividades, mesmo sob circunstâncias de geadas de forte intensidade, comuns em algumas regiões do Estado. Além disso, busca proporcionar melhores informações sobre a produção de sementes melhoradas indicando classes de sementes potencialmente mais produtivas. Plantios de árvores a partir de sementes geneticamente melhoradas asseguram melhores rendimentos de matéria-prima florestal em diversos ambientes. Associando-se o produto do melhoramento às atuais técnicas preconizadas de manejo de florestas cultivadas, têm-se como resultado retornos significativos do capital investido, tornando-se fonte de renda permanente no contexto do agronegócio florestal.bitstream/CNPF-2009-09/43189/1/doc129.pd
