A técnica proposta certamente necessita de mais estudos para a sua validação.OBJECTIVE: To report the initial results from the use of a new technique for fixation of bone grafts in uncontained tibial bone defects in patients undergoing total knee prosthesis implantation. METHODS: Six patients with severe varus deformity of the knee who, after cuts and ligament balancing had been performed, still presented bone deficiencies that reached the edge of the tibial cut and compromised the implant stability, underwent a new fixation technique. RESULTS: Five of the patients had good clinical results, with integration of the graft within 12 weeks. One patient presented clinical complications with wound dehiscence and implant exposure, which evolved to the need for implant removal and knee arthrodesis. CONCLUSION: Support osteosynthesis as a graft fixation method is a viable option for treating tibial bone deficiencies. The proposed technique certainly needs further studies for its validation

Abstract. High Impedance Faults (HIF) are faults of difficult detection and location while using traditional digital relaying. In this article it is presented a new proposal for detection and location of HIF's in distribution systems with distributed generation (DG), based on artificial neural networks. The methodology inputs are the local measured voltage and current phase components, supplying as output the detection, classification and location of the fault, when it occurs. The basic characteristics, the algorithm and comparative tests with other detection and location methodologies are presented in this article. The proposed scheme was tested in a simulation platform of a distribution system with DG. The comparative results of the technique with usual fault detection and location schemes show the high efficiency and robustness of the method

The woman\u27s body undergoes several physiological changes during the gestational period. Risk factors and comorbidities can cause pathophysiological changes in this period, especially in the maternal vascular system, triggering thrombophilia. This clotting disorder increases the thrombus formation risk, especially in the uteroplacental circulation. The study aimed to conduct a thorough review of the main approaches to diagnosis and treatment in reducing patient morbidity and mortality. This is an integrative review with qualitative data searched in Pubmed, BVS and Cochrane Library. A total of 624 studies were found, 591 were excluded outside the inclusion criteria, and 33 were selected. According to the careful search, thrombophilias can be hereditary or acquired, the former when there is a predisposition to venous occlusion and the latter from other clinical conditions. Pregnancy is a pro-thrombotic event and increases the chances of thrombus occurrence, triggering a series of pregnancy complications, such as intrauterine death, early or late miscarriage, and premature birth. However, if diagnosed early, there is a favorable prognosis for the woman and the fetus. To reduce these impacts of gestational thrombophilia, it is imperative to train primary health care and private clinics professionals to promote and treat health and basic diagnostic tests on pregnant women. Thus, performing early intervention avoiding the development of maternal-fetal complications
