    On the identification and characterization of outdoor thermo-hygrometric stress events

    Human thermal sensations are not controlled merely by the ambient temperature, but also by other biometeorological variables and personal factors. Therefore, thermo-hygrometric stress events need to be identified and monitored in addition to heat waves. The purpose of the present article is proposing a method for detection and characterization of thermo-hygrometric stress events, based on the rearrangement of heat waves indices and on new quantities. The Mediterranean Outdoor Thermal Comfort Index (MOCI) is used as a reference variable instead of the air temperature. The method is applied to Milan (Italy) for the 2022 summer, which: i) is the hottest in the period 1991–2020 with a temperature anomaly of 3.17 ◦C and ii) presents higher minimum temperatures (1.5 times higher) than those of the control period. The analysis of daytime values of MOCI demonstrates a cumulative MOCI higher than zero only in 2022. Hence, the lower fraction of data in the cold range determines a significant increase in the cumulative MOCI. The metrics on severe MOCI events in 2022 confirm the key-role of extreme temperatures. The proposed method is effective and, in this case, reveals the relevance of the cumulative thermal and thermo-hygrometric loads also in the absence of critical heating conditions

    Full genome sequence-based comparative study of wild-type and vaccine strains of infectious laryngotracheitis virus from Italy

    Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) is an acute and highly contagious respiratory disease of chickens caused by an alphaherpesvirus, infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILTV). Recently, full genome sequences of wild-type and vaccine strains have been determined worldwide, but none was from Europe. The aim of this study was to determine and analyse the complete genome sequences of five ILTV strains. Sequences were also compared to reveal the similarity of strains across time and to discriminate between wild-type and vaccine strains. Genomes of three ILTV field isolates from outbreaks occurred in Italy in 1980,2007 and 2011, and two commercial chicken embryo origin (CEO) vaccines were sequenced using the 454 Life Sciences technology. The comparison with the Serva genome showed that 35 open reading frames (ORFs) differed across the five genomes. Overall, 54 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and 27 amino acid differences in 19 ORFs and two insertions in the UL52 and ORFC genes were identified. Similarity among the field strains and between the field and the vaccine strains ranged from 99.96% to 99.99%. Phylogenetic analysis revealed a close relationship among them, as well. This study generated data on genomic variation among Italian ILTV strains revealing that, even though the genetic variability of the genome is well conserved across time and between wild-type and vaccine strains, some mutations may help in differentiating among them and maybe involved in ILTV virulence/attenuation. The results of this study can contribute to the understanding of the molecular bases of ILTV pathogenicity and provide genetic markers to differentiate between wild-type and vaccine strains

    Розроблений експресний метод має достовірність у показниках 99,6 % та може застосовуватися для визначення фальсифікації м’яса забійних тварин та птиці за обробки пероксидом водню поряд з іншими методами визначення їх якості та безпечності у виробничих лабораторіях на потужностях з переробки м’яса, супермаркетах, оптових базах, у державних лабораторіях ветеринарної медицини та у лабораторіях ветеринарно-санітарної експертизи на агропромислових ринках.Разработанный экспрессный метод имеет достоверность по показателям – 99,6 % и может использоваться для определения фальсификации мяса убойных животных и птицы при обработке пероксидом водорода вместе с другими методами определения их качества и безопасности в производственных  лабораториях предприятий по переработке мяса убойных животных и птицы, супермаркетах, оптовых базах, в государственных лабораториях ветеринарной медицины и в лабораториях ветеринарно-санитарной экспертизы на агропродовольственных рынках.As a result of the conducted researches is set that stability of indexes on determination of meat after the improved express method was 99,6 % and can be used to determine the falsification of meat of slaughte meat animals and poultry processing hydrogen peroxide, along with other methods to determine their quality and safety in industrial laboratories for meat processing facilities, supermarkets, who lesale bases in thes tateveterinary laboratory and in the laboratories of veterinary-sanitary examination of th eagricultural markets.Conducted studies found that the quality of the meat of slaughte red animals and birds meet the great degree of freshness and the reaction of peroxidase, meat derived from healthy animals. By express method developed by pork, beef, lamb, goat and horse were processed hydrogen peroxide, and hydrogen peroxide was processed poultry, as in dicated by the formation of light-blue color when applied to the poultry reaction. The data on the in tensity of color to establish falsification meat of slaughte meat animals and poultry processing of hydrogen peroxide were stable and reliable, so the separameters can be used in determining the quality and safety of meat animals and poultry.Fur ther more, it should benoted that an express method developed is simple in execution, and the results give a specific quality indicators in falsifying the meat animals and poultry processing hydrogen peroxide.For this development Patent of Ukraine is got on an useful model № 81945 «Method of determination of the falsification of meat of slaughte animals and poultry processing hydrogen peroxide
