Vector mesons in systems
A new selection rule is described for the vector mesons in the decuplet
representations of flavor SU(3)Comment: 7 pages and 1 figur
Performance Comparison between Consequent-Pole and Inset Modular Permanent Magnet Machines
This paper proposes some consequent-pole modular
permanent magnet machines with different flux gap widths
and slot/pole number combinations. The corresponding inset
modular permanent magnet machines having the same
magnet volume are also presented for comparison. It has been
demonstrated that the output torques of the consequent pole
modular machines are always higher than those of the inset
modular machines regardless of flux gap widths and slot/pole
number combinations. Other electromagnetic performances
such as back-EMF, cogging torque, and iron losses, etc. are
calculated by 2D FEA software and compared as well. The
advantages and disadvantages of consequent and inset
modular permanent magnet machines are summarized in this
paper
A Study of the \eta \pi^{0} Spectrum and Search for a J^{PC} = 1^{-+} Exotic Meson
A partial wave analysis (PWA) of the of the system (where ) produced in the charge exchange reaction at an incident momentum of 18 GeV is presented as a function of
invariant mass, , and momentum transfer squared,
, from the incident to the outgoing system. , and waves were included in the PWA. The
and states are clearly observed in the overall
effective mass distribution as well as in the amplitudes associated with
wave and waves respectively after partial wave decomposition. The observed
distributions in moments (averages of spherical harmonics) were compared to the
results from the PWA and the two are consistent. The distribution in
for individual waves associated with natural and
unnatural parity exchange in the -channel are consistent with Regge
phenomenology. Of particular interest in this study is the wave since this
leads to an exotic for the system. A wave is
present in the data, however attempts to describe the mass dependence of the
amplitude and phase motion with respect to the wave as a Breit-Wigner
resonance are problematic. This has implications regarding the existence of a
reported exotic meson decaying into with a mass
near 1.4 GeV.Comment: 19 pages, 29 figures, to appear in Phys. Rev.
Exotic Meson Production in the System observed in the Reaction at 18 GeV/c
This letter reports results from the partial wave analysis of the
final state in collisions at 18GeV/c.
Strong evidence is observed for production of two mesons with exotic quantum
numbers of spin, parity and charge conjugation, in the decay
channel . The mass MeV/c^2 and
width MeV/c^2 of the first state are consistent
with the parameters of the previously observed . The second
resonance with mass MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2 agrees very well with predictions from theoretical
models. In addition, the presence of is confirmed with mass MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2
and a new state, , is observed with mass
MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2. The decay properties of
these last two states are consistent with flux tube model predictions for
hybrid mesons with non-exotic quantum numbers
Decays of the Exotic Hybrid and - Mixing
QCD sum-rules are used to calculate the decay widths of the exotic hybrid in two different
mixing schemes.
In the conventional flavour octet-singlet mixing scheme, the decay widths are
both found to be small, while in the recently-proposed quark mixing scheme, the
decay width is large compared with
the decay width . These
results provide some insight into - mixing and hybrid decay

Confirmation of a pi_1^0 Exotic Meson in the \eta \pi^0 System
The exclusive reaction , at 18 GeV has been studied with a partial wave analysis on a sample
of 23~492 events from BNL experiment E852. A mass-dependent fit
is consistent with a resonant hypothesis for the wave, thus providing
evidence for a neutral exotic meson with , a mass of MeV, and a width of MeV. New
interpretations of the meson exotics in neutral system observed in
E852 and Crystal Barrel experiments are discussed.Comment: p3, rewording the paragraph (at the bottom) about the phase
variations. p4, rewording paragrath "The second method ..." . p4, at the
bottom of paragrath "The third method ..." added consistent with the results
of methods 1 and 2
Spin Analysis of Supersymmetric Particles
The spin of supersymmetric particles can be determined at colliders
unambiguously. This is demonstrated for a characteristic set of non-colored
supersymmetric particles -- smuons, selectrons, and charginos/neutralinos. The
analysis is based on the threshold behavior of the excitation curves for pair
production in collisions, the angular distribution in the production
process and decay angular distributions. In the first step we present the
observables in the helicity formalism for the supersymmetric particles.
Subsequently we confront the results with corresponding analyses of
Kaluza-Klein particles in theories of universal extra space dimensions which
behave distinctly different from supersymmetric theories. It is shown in the
third step that a set of observables can be designed which signal the spin of
supersymmetric particles unambiguously without any model assumptions. Finally
in the fourth step it is demonstrated that the determination of the spin of
supersymmetric particles can be performed experimentally in practice at an

Lattice calculation of hybrid mesons with improved Kogut-Susskind fermions
We report on a lattice determination of the mass of the exotic
hybrid meson using an improved Kogut-Susskind action. Results from both
quenched and dynamical quark simulations are presented. We also compare with
earlier results using Wilson quarks at heavier quark masses. The results on
lattices with three flavors of dynamical quarks show effects of sea quarks on
the hybrid propagators which probably result from coupling to two meson states.
We extrapolate the quenched results to the physical light quark mass to allow
comparison with experimental candidates for the hybrid meson. The
lattice result remains somewhat heavier than the experimental result, although
it may be consistent with the .Comment: 24 pages, 12 figures. Replaced to match published versio

Brookhaven National Laboratory is summarized. Many final states such as , , , , , ,

Observation of a New J(PC)=1(+-) Isoscalar State in the Reaction Pi- Proton -> Omega Eta Neutron at 18 GeV/c
Results are presented on a partial wave analysis of the Omega Eta final state
produced in Pi- Proton interactions at 18 GeVc where Omega -> Pi+ Pi- Pi0, Pi0
-> 2 Gammas, and Eta -> 2 Gammas. We observe the previously unreported decay
mode Omega(1650) -> Omega Eta and a new 1(+-) meson state h1(1595) with a mass
M=1594(15)(+10)(-60) MeV/c^2 and a width Gamma=384(60)(+70)(-100) MeV/c^2. The
