A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of Agrostemmin (plant stimulant) on height and number of leaves of soybean plants (Glycine max L Merril cv. IAC-8). Six treatments were studied: check (T1); 0,125g Agrostemmin/l00g seed (T2); 0,125g Agrostemmin/100 seed and foliar spraying 333 ppm (T3); 0,125g Agrostemmin/l00g seed and foliar spraying 500 ppm (T4); foliar spraying 333 ppm (T5) and foliar spraying 500 ppm (T6). Three samplings were made at 14 day intervals. The experimental layout was completely randomized, using two variance, testing regression effects. Agrostemmin applied to the seed (T2) or sprayed on the leaves at the rate of 500 ppm (T6) increased height and number of leaves of soybean, whereas the combination of Agrostemmin applied to the seeds and sprayed at 500 ppm (T4) decreased those values.O presente estudo teve por finalidade avaliar o efeito de um estimulante vegetal, o Agrostemin, sobre a altura e o número de folhas das plantas de soja (Glycine max L. MERRILL cv. IAC-8).

Failure regime in (1+1) dimensions in fibrous materials

In this paper, we introduce a model for fracture in fibrous materials that takes into account the rupture height of the fibers, in contrast with previous models. Thus, we obtain the profile of the fracture and calculate its roughness, defined as the variance around the mean height. We investigate the relationship between the fracture roughness and the fracture toughness.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures.eps, Revte

The influence of calcium levels on the growth of Stylosanthes guyanensis (Aubl.) SW. c v "Cook" plants was studied under the following treatments: T1 (200 mg of calcium/litre); T2 (133.33 mg of calcium/litre); T3 (66.66 mg of calcium/litre) and T4 (without calcium). The study was carried out in a hydroponic media with Hoagland & Arnon's number one nutrient solution. The experiment was designed as a completely randomized split-plot design, considering the five samplings performed in 14 day intervals as main plots. The influence of different treatments was evaluated through leaf area (LA), specific leaf area (SLA), leaf weight ratio (LWR), and leaf area ratio (LAR). The results obtained indicated that stylo plants had a better development in the 200 mg of calcium/litre level in nutrient solution.O presente experimento teve como finalidade estudar os efeitos de níveis de cálcio no desenvolvimento de plantas de Stylosanthes guyanensis (Aubl.)

This study aims to analyze the performance of Waluyo Jati Kraksaan Hospital in the period 2015-2017 by using the balanced scorecard method. The balanced scorecard measures performance with four perspectives, namely growth and learning perspective, internal business perspective, customer perspective, and financial perspective. Data sources used in the form of financial reports, patient data, and employee data. Data analysis techniques use the descriptive method with a case study approach. The results of the Balanced Scorecard calculation at Waluyo Jati Kraksaan Regional General Hospital revealed that the performance of RSUD during 2015-2017 was seen from a financial perspective, but from a non-financial perspective, it could still be said to be quite good

Comprehensive evaluation of the linear stability of Alfvén eigenmodes driven by alpha particles in an ITER baseline scenario

The linear stability of Alfvén eigenmodes in the presence of fusion-born alpha particles is thoroughly assessed for two variants of an ITER baseline scenario, which differ significantly in their core and pedestal temperatures. A systematic approach based on CASTOR-K (Borba and Kerner 1999 J. Comput. Phys. 153 101; Nabais et al 2015 Plasma Sci. Technol. 17 89) is used that considers all possible eigenmodes for a given magnetic equilibrium and determines their growth rates due to alpha-particle drive and Landau damping on fuel ions, helium ashes and electrons. It is found that the fastest growing instabilities in the aforementioned ITER scenario are core-localized, low-shear toroidal Alfvén eigenmodes. The largest growth-rates occur in the scenario variant with higher core temperatures, which has the highest alpha-particle density and density gradient, for eigenmodes with toroidal mode numbers . Although these eigenmodes suffer significant radiative damping, which is also evaluated, their growth rates remain larger than those of the most unstable eigenmodes found in the variant of the ITER baseline scenario with lower core temperatures, which have and are not affected by radiative damping

Sensitivity of alpha-particle-driven Alfvén eigenmodes to q-profile variation in ITER scenarios

A perturbative hybrid ideal-MHD/drift-kinetic approach to assess the stability of alpha-particle-driven Alfvn eigenmodes in burning plasmas is used to show that certain foreseen ITER scenarios, namely the MA baseline scenario with very low and broad core magnetic shear, are sensitive to small changes in the background magnetic equilibrium. Slight variations (of the order of ) of the safety-factor value on axis are seen to cause large changes in the growth rate, toroidal mode number, and radial location of the most unstable eigenmodes found. The observed sensitivity is shown to proceed from the very low magnetic shear values attained throughout the plasma core, raising issues about reliable predictions of alpha-particle transport in burning plasmas

Bianchi type II models in the presence of perfect fluid and anisotropic dark energy

Spatially homogeneous but totally anisotropic and non-flat Bianchi type II cosmological model has been studied in general relativity in the presence of two minimally interacting fluids; a perfect fluid as the matter fluid and a hypothetical anisotropic fluid as the dark energy fluid. The Einstein's field equations have been solved by applying two kinematical ans\"{a}tze: we have assumed the variation law for the mean Hubble parameter that yields a constant value of deceleration parameter, and one of the components of the shear tensor has been considered proportional to the mean Hubble parameter. We have particularly dwelled on the accelerating models with non-divergent expansion anisotropy as the Universe evolves. Yielding anisotropic pressure, the fluid we consider in the context of dark energy, can produce results that can be produced in the presence of isotropic fluid in accordance with the \Lambda CDM cosmology. However, the derived model gives additional opportunities by being able to allow kinematics that cannot be produced in the presence of fluids that yield only isotropic pressure. We have obtained well behaving cases where the anisotropy of the expansion and the anisotropy of the fluid converge to finite values (include zero) in the late Universe. We have also showed that although the metric we consider is totally anisotropic, the anisotropy of the dark energy is constrained to be axially symmetric, as long as the overall energy momentum tensor possesses zero shear stress.Comment: 15 pages; 5 figures; matches the version published in The European Physical Journal Plu
