    Characteristics and community evolution patterns of the international scrap metal trade

    To reduce the excessive consumption of metal minerals and boost the development of the circular economy, scrap metals are increasingly recycled across the world. Due to the geographically uneven distribution of scrap metals, most countries are actively participating in the international scrap metal trade. This study collects international trade records on scrap metals from 1988 to 2017 and constructs the annual global scrap metals trade network (GSMTN) to analyze the characteristics and dynamic evolution of the scrap metal trade. The results reveal a globalization trend of the scrap metal trade, the scale-free characteristics of the trade network, and the increasing monopolization of the export market. The international scrap metal trade has experienced a dynamic evolution in the past 30 years and has developed into a complex system with a hierarchical structure that is led by a few core countries. Three relatively stable groups are the main players in the international scrap metal trade: East Asia-America-Oceania, Europe, and South Asia-Middle East. A review of the split and merger process of these communities clearly shows that geopolitics and economic turbulence are important elements in the fragmentation and integration of trade communities. The findings will enable governments to understand the complex trade relationships involved in scrap metals, which can help policy-makers propose effective import-export policies and ensure national resource security

    Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de analisar aspectos fenológicos e produtivos de leguminosas nativas (Adesmia latifolia, A. tristis) e exóticas (Lotus corniculatus, L. uliginosus, Trifolium repens), em função do estádio fenológico no primeiro corte: vegetativo (CEV) e florescimento (CEF). As plantas foram estabelecidas em monocultura, no campo, e avaliadas entre maio/2000 e setembro/2001, em Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul. Após o primeiro corte, as plantas foram desfolhadas em intervalos de 45 dias. Foram realizadas nove desfolhações no manejo CEV e sete no CEF. O estádio fenológico no primeiro corte influenciou a produção de massa seca (MS) de T. repens (CEV= 9.000 kg/ha de MS, CEF = 7.000 kg/ha de MS) e A. tristis (CEV = 4.000 kg/ha de MS, CEF = 8.000 kg/ha de MS). O L. corniculatus produziu cerca de 15.000 kg/ha de MS e A. latifolia, de 2.000 a 3.000 kg/ha de MS, independentemente do manejo. O L. uliginosus não floresceu, produzindo 7.000 kg/ha de MS no manejo CEV. As espécies nativas mostraram baixa persistência, com morte de plantas (A. tristis) e estolões (A. latifolia) no final da estação de crescimento. A maior produção de T. repens foi na primavera e a das espécies de Lotus, no verão.<br>This work had the objective to evaluate phenological and productive aspects of native (Adesmia latifolia, A. tristis) and exotics legumes (Lotus corniculatus, L. uliginosus, Trifolium repens) as for the phenological stage on first-cutting: vegetative (CEV) and flowering (CEF). The plants were established as monoculture in the field and evaluated between May/2000 and September/2001, in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul. After the first cutting the plants were defoliated in 45 days intervals. There were nine cuttings in CEV-management and seven in the CEF-management. The phenological stage on first-cutting modified significantly (P<0,05) the dry matter (DM) production of T. repens (CEV = 9.000 kg/ha of DM, CEF = 7.000 kg/ha of DM) and A. tristis (CEV = 4.000 kg/ha of DM, CEF = 8.000 kg/ha of DM). L. corniculatus produced about 15.000 kg/ha of DM and A. latifolia, 2.000 to 3.000 kg/ha of DM, regardless the management. L. uliginosus did not flowered, producing 7.000 kg/ha of DM in the CEV-management. The native legumes showed poor persistence with death of the plants (A. tristis) and stolons (A. latifolia) at the end of the growing season.     In 1985 the French government created a unique circuit for the dissemination of doctoral theses: References went to a national database “Téléthèses” whereas the documents were distributed to the university libraries in microform. In the era of the electronic document this French network of deposit of and access to doctoral theses is changing. How do you discover and locate a French thesis today, how do you get hold of a paper copy and how do you access the full electronic text? What are the catalogues and databases referencing theses since the disappearance of “Téléthèses”? Where are the archives, and are they open? What is the legal environment that rules the emerging structures and tools? This paper presents national plans on referencing and archiving doctoral theses coordinated by the government as well as some initiatives for creating full text archives. These initiatives come from universities as well as from research institutions and learned societies. “Téléthèses” records have been integrated in a union catalogue of French university libraries SUDOC. University of Lyon-2 and INSA Lyon developed procedures and tools covering the entire production chain from writing to the final access in an archive: “Cyberthèses” and “Cither”. The CNRS Centre for Direct Scientific Communication at Lyon (CCSD) maintains an archive (“TEL”) with about 2000 theses in all disciplines. Another repository for theses in engineering, economics and management called “Pastel” is proposed by the Paris Institute of Technology (ParisTech), a consortium of 10 engineering and commercial schools of the Paris region
