This study aims to generalize of school sports in the society, and this indicates how it impresses to the achievement of sporty. The universe of the research constitues physical education teachers work at schools of Ministry of National Education. The sample of research constitutes is composed twenty-six female and one hundred-two male physical education teachers, who work in the center of Elazig. A questionnaire is applied as a data collection device, these rates and frequency values of the questionnaire data are considered, and these values put into tables. Consequently, physical education teachers participated in this research stated that; %85.1 (109 people) considers that school sports would be affective for spreading schools in society, %68 has economic problems in sportive facilities, %95.3 thinks that hours of physical education courses are not adequate, %83 considers that sports organizations among schools would be benefical for national sports

Trichohepatoenteric Syndrome or Syndromic Diarrhea—Report of Three Members in a Family, First Report from Iran

Introduction. Intractable diarrhea of infancy (IDI) includes several types of early onset diarrhea; one of the rare etiologies is trichohepatoenteric (THE) syndrome, also known as syndromic diarrhea (SD) which was primarily described by Stankler et al. Hereby we report a family with several affected members which to our knowledge is the first case report from Iran. Report of Cases. A three-year-old boy referred with short stature, poor weight gain, and intermittent steatotic diarrhea to our center. He was born to healthy, relative parents (cousins). He did not gain any weight after four months of age and began having intermittent steatotic diarrhea, abdominal distension, and fever. He was hospitalized several times. Two other children in the family also showed somewhat similar symptoms. Two sweat tests were negative for cystic fibrosis. Workup for Celiac disease was performed several times which was negative; however, gluten-free diet was tried several times which was not effective. Workup for Hirschsprung’s disease was performed but colon was ganglionic. Evidence of liver involvement was approved by elevated liver enzymes and coarse echo of liver on sonography. Discussion. Trichoenterohepatic syndrome should be put in mind in cases of intractable diarrhea presenting in a family with several affected members. Early diagnosis would save patients from unnecessary workups

Effect of saturation on liquefaction potential and residual strength: laboratory investigation

International audienceIn the last few years, many studies have focused on the behaviour of unsaturated sands subjected to dynamic loading and there is consensus that soils with saturation degree lower than 100% can be liquefied. However, it is still necessary to have systematic studies for better understanding of this phenomenon. In this study, some experiments were carried out to survey the sand mechanical behaviour subjected to cyclic loading as well as the residual strength after liquefaction under monotonic loading. All the samples were prepared by the wet tamping method then the Skempton parameter B was measured to evaluate the saturation degree of the sample. After that, sample consolidation and cyclic loading were conducted step by step. All tests show that the soil liquefaction susceptibility goes up with the increase of the sample saturation degree. Through these tests, the relationship between cyclic stress ratio and Skempton’s parameter B is also highlighted. After liquefaction, the samples were loaded monotonically to assess the residual strength. The results show that the sand recuperates its strength when the pore water pressure dissipates after liquefaction

Optimizing Image Quality When Evaluating Blood Flow at Doppler US: A Tutorial

    No full text
Doppler US is an essential component of nearly all diagnostic US procedures. In this era of increased awareness of the effects of ionizing radiation and the side effects of iodine- and gadolinium-based contrast agents, Doppler US is poised to play an even bigger role in medical imaging. It is safe, cost-effective, portable, and highly accurate when performed by an experienced operator. The sensitivities and specificities of Doppler US for detecting blood flow and determining the direction and velocity of blood flow in various organs and vascular systems have increased dramatically in the past decade. With use of advanced flow techniques that are available for use with most modern equipment, US can provide vascular information that is comparable to or even more accurate than that obtained with other cross-sectional and interventional modalities. However, there remains concern that US (including newer more advanced flow-evaluating techniques) will not be used to its full potential owing to dependence on operator skill and expertise. Thorough understanding of image optimization techniques and expanded knowledge of the physical principles, instrumentation, application, advantages, and limitations of this modality are of utmost importance. The authors provide a simple practical guide for optimizing images for vascular flow detection by reviewing various cases and focusing on the parameters that should be optimized.
