Spin 1 inversion: a Majorana tensor force for deuteron alpha scattering

    Get PDF
We demonstrate, for the first time, successful S-matrix to potential inversion for spin one projectiles with non-diagonal SlljS^j_{ll'} yielding a TRT_{\rm R} interaction. The method is a generalization of the iterative-perturbative, IP, method. We present a test case indicating the degree of uniqueness of the potential. The method is adapted, using established procedures, into direct observable to potential inversion, fitting σ\sigma, iT11{\rm i}T_{11}, T20T_{20}, T21T_{21} and T22T_{22} for d + alpha scattering over a range of energies near 10 MeV. The TRT_{\rm R} interaction which we find is very different from that proposed elsewhere, both real and imaginary parts being very different for odd and even parity channels.Comment: 7 pages Revtex, 4 ps figure

On Non-commutative Corrections of Gravitational Energy in Teleparallel Gravity

    Get PDF
In this work we use the theory of Teleparallelism Equivalent to General Relativity based in non-commutative space-time coordinates. In this context, we write the corrections of the Schwarzschild solution. As a important result, we find the corrections of the gravitational energy in the realm of teleparallel gravity due to the non-commutativity of space-time. Then we interpret such corrections as a manifestation of quantum theory in gravitational field.Comment: 11 pages, no figure

On Teleparallel Quantum Gravity in Schwarzschild Space-Time

    Get PDF
In this article we present the quantization process for Schwarzschild space-time in the context of Teleparallel gravity. In order to achieve such a goal we use the Weyl formalism that establishes a well defined correspondence between classical quantities which are realized by functions and quantum ones which are realized by operators. In the process of quantization we introduce a fundamental constant that is used to construct what we call the quantum of matter by the imposition of periodic conditions over the eigenfunction.Comment: Accepted in Advances in High Energy Physic

Observation of a uniform temperature dependence in the electrical resistance across the structural phase transition in thin film vanadium oxide (VO2VO_{2})

An electrical study of thin VO2VO_{2} films in the vicinity of the structural phase transition at 680C68^{0}C shows (a) that the electrical resistance RR follows log(R)log (R) \propto T-T over the TT-range, 20<T<800C20 < T < 80 ^{0}C covering both sides of the structural transition, and (b) a history dependent hysteresis loop in RR upon thermal cycling. These features are attributed here to transport through a granular network.Comment: 3 pages, 3 color figure

Effects of rotation and magnetic field on the onset of convective instability in a liquid layer due to buoyancy and surface tension

    Get PDF
Thermocapillary stability characteristics of a horizontal liquid layer heated from below rotating about a vertical axis and subjected to a uniform vertical magnetic field are analyzed under a variety of thermal and electromagnetic boundary conditions. Results based on analytical solutions to the pertinent eigenvalue problems are discussed in the light of earlier work on special cases of the more general problem considered here to show in particular the effects of the heat transfer, nonzero curvature and gravity waves at the two-fluid interface. Although the expected stabilizing action of the Coriolis and Lorentz force fields in this configuration are in evidence the optimal choice of an appropriate range for the relevant parameters is shown to be critically dependent on the interfacial effects mentioned above

Shuttle program. Solar activity prediction of sunspot numbers, predicted solar radio flux

    Get PDF
A solar activity prediction technique for monthly mean sunspot numbers over a period of approximately ten years from February 1979 to January 1989 is presented. This includes the predicted maximum epoch of solar cycle 21, approximately January 1980, and the predicted minimum epoch of solar cycle 22, approximately March 1987. Additionally, the solar radio flux 10.7 centimeter smooth values are included for the same time frame using a smooth 13 month empirical relationship. The incentive for predicting solar activity values is the requirement of solar flux data as input to upper atmosphere density models utilized in mission planning satellite orbital lifetime studies
