Gross margin comparison of cultivation of different legume species in the organic farming system

Agricultural Resources and Economics in 2018 started study four legume species. The
independent variables of the study were the legume genotypes: faba bean (Vicia faba L., cv.
‘Isabell’, ‘Lielplatone’, ‘Laura’, ‘Boxer’), field pea (Pisum sativum L, cv. ‘Astronaute’, ‘Bruno’,
‘Rebekka’, ‘Zaiga’), narrow lupine (Lupinus angustifolius L., cv. ‘Sonet’, ‘Probor’, ‘Derliai’,
‘Haags Blau’), and soya (Glycine max L., cv. ‘Annucha’, ‘Sculptor’, ‘Augusta’). The soil types
of the experimental organic field were sod–podzolic, sandy loam, and loamy sand. At the start of
the study the organic substance concentration was 15–18 mg kg-1
, pHKCl was 5.3–5.98, the
concentration of plant - available phosphorus (P205) was 133.2–182.9 mg kg-1
, and the
concentration of potassium (K2O) - 69.2–109.7 mg kg-1
. Green manure (buckwheat) was a
pre-crop, incorporated in autumn. For the comparison of economic indicators, the gross coverage
calculation was used, which based on the difference obtained by subtracting variable costs from
the valuation of gross output. All variable costs and revenues were included in the gross margin
calculation without value added tax. The study indicated large differences in yields between
genotypes. From the economic point of view, the most suitable cultivars for cultivation according
to the organic farming method were: field beans - ‘Isabell’ and ‘Lielplatone’ with average gross
cover (GC), 505.40 and 504.60 EUR, respectively, field peas - ‘Bruno’ (GC 379.60 EUR),
narrow-leaved lupin - ‘Derliai’ (GC 647.70 EUR), soybeans - ‘Sculptor’ (GC 204.40 EUR).
Among the legume species studied, lupine showed the highest economic performance, among the
genotypes - cultivar ‘Derliai’ (α = 0.05)
Pengaruh Penambahan Serat Ijuk dan Kawat Bendrat pada Paving Block
Paving block merupakan salah satu alternatif pengganti perkerasan rigid yang ada. Khususnya di daerah yang mempunyai kekuatan struktur tanah labil. Pada penelitian ini mencoba untuk memberikan keragaman komposisi dengan menambahkan ijuk dan kawat bendrat, mengingat paving block yang ada hanya terdiri komponen struktur semen dan pasir. Komposisi penambahan ijuk bernilai 2%, 4%, 6% dan 8% terhadap berat semen yang di tuangkan ke dalam 2/3 cetakan paving block, dan penambahan kawat bendrat 1, 2 dan 3 gulungan yang diletakkan pada 1/3 ketinggian paving block. Komposisi campuran semen dan pasir 1 : 11. Penambahan kawat ijuk sebesar 6% dengan 2 gulung kawat bendrat menghasilkan kekuatan maksimal sebesar 2,325 MPa atau selisih 501,65% dari paving block normal

Effect of sapropel fertilizer on the quality of the yield of some field crops

formed from remains of water biota mixed with mineral components. One of the most promising
utilisation ways of sapropel is agriculture where it can be used as soil amendment to improve soil
physical properties and thus obtain economically viable and high quality yield of field crops. For three
years the experiments were conducted at Priekuli Research Centre of the Institute of Agricultural
Resources and Economics. Dehydrated sapropel mass from Lake Bizas was studied as soil biological
fertilizer to determine its suitability for use in field crop production. Researches were carried out
in organic crop rotation, in the fields of potato, winter rye and field bean. Three different doses
of sapropel fertilizer were applied. During the three-year period (2020–2022), the yield indicators
of the plant species included in the study were evaluated, and the quality of the yield of these species
was assessed. The results of research confirm the positive effect of sapropel on yield quality
indicators - protein (field beans), starch (potatoes) falling number and 1,000 seed mass (winter rye)
Infantile acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia with T(1:22) in a non-down syndrome child.
Megakaryoblastic leukaemia is the commonest form of leukaemia occuring in Down syndrome infants. However, it’s subtype with translocation t(1;22)(p13;q13)is uncommon comprising <1% of all cases and reported to exclusively occur in infant without Down syndrome. It has a female predominance and carries apoor prognosis. We described this rare form of leukaemia in a 9-month-old girl
who presented with bruises, massive hepatosplenomegaly and multiple cervical and inguinal lymphadenopathy. The blood film showed severe anaemia with
ovalostomatocytosis, thrombocytopenia and mild leucocytosis. The bone marrow
aspirate showed numerous blasts showing high nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio and
agranular cytoplasm with cytoplasmic blebs. Peroxidase staining was negative. The
immunophenotyping of the blasts showed positive expression of CD117, CD13, CD33
and CD61 which confirmed the diagnosis of acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia.
Interestingly, the cytogenetic finding of translocation t(1;22) which is most common in acute megaloblastic leukaemia in infants without Down syndrome was found in this case. She received the AML trial 15 ADE protocol chemotherapy regime and developed severe neutropenic sepsis and respiratory distress requiring ventilatory
support and granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF). She recovered wellmafter the first course of chemotherapy and was discharged. Unfortunately, she was not brought in for follow-up chemotherapy and presented a few months later with relapsed AML. She was re-started on ADE protocol and currently is on oral thioguanine for maintenance therapy
Solving delay differential equations by using implicit 2-point block backward differentiation formula

constant stepsize via Newton Iteration. This implicit block method was expected to produce two points

Quantification of atomic force microscopy tip and sample thermal contact
A thermal conduction measurement device was fabricated, consisting of a silicon dioxide membrane with integrated thermal sensors (Pt resistance heater/thermometer and Pt–Au thermocouples) using MEMS technology. Heat transfer between the heated device and a number of unused atomic force microscope and scanning thermal microscope probes was measured. Changes in thermal conduction related to changes in the tip shape resulting from initial contact were observed. The sensors were fabricated by electron beam lithography and lift-off followed by local subtractive processing of a Pt–Au multilayer to form Pt heater–resistance thermometer elements and Pt–Au thermocouples. Thermal isolation from the silicon substrate was provided by dry release of the supporting 50 nm thick SiO2 membrane using an isotropic SF6 inductively coupled plasma etch. The high thermal isolation of the sample combined with the sensitivity of the temperature sensors used allowed the detection of thermal conduction between the tip and the sample with high precision. The measured temperature range of the Pt resistor was 293–643 K. The measured thermal resistance of the membrane was 3 × 105 K/W in air and 1.44 × 106 K/W in vacuum. Systematic Review on Security and Privacy Requirements in Edge Computing: State of the Art and Future Research Opportunities
Edge computing is a promising paradigm that enhances the capabilities of cloud computing. In order to continue patronizing the computing services, it is essential to conserve a good atmosphere free from all kinds of security and privacy breaches. The security and privacy issues associated with the edge computing environment have narrowed the overall acceptance of the technology as a reliable paradigm. Many researchers have reviewed security and privacy issues in edge computing, but not all have fully investigated the security and privacy requirements. Security and privacy requirements are the objectives that indicate the capabilities as well as functions a system performs in eliminating certain security and privacy vulnerabilities. The paper aims to substantially review the security and privacy requirements of the edge computing and the various technological methods employed by the techniques used in curbing the threats, with the aim of helping future researchers in identifying research opportunities. This paper investigate the current studies and highlights the following: (1) the classification of security and privacy requirements in edge computing, (2) the state of the art techniques deployed in curbing the security and privacy threats, (3) the trends of technological methods employed by the techniques, (4) the metrics used for evaluating the performance of the techniques, (5) the taxonomy of attacks affecting the edge network, and the corresponding technological trend employed in mitigating the attacks, and, (6) research opportunities for future researchers in the area of edge computing security and privacy
Synergistic Inhibition of Survival, Proliferation, and Migration of U87 Cells with a Combination of LY341495 and Iressa
Glioblastomas exploit various molecular pathways to promote glutamate-dependent growth by activating the AMPA (2-amino-3-(3-hydroxy-5-methyl-isoxazol-4-yl) propanoic acid) receptor, the group II metabotropic glutamate receptor, mGluR, and the epidermal growth factor receptor, EGFR. We hypothesized that targeting more than one of these pathways would be more effective in inhibiting glutamate-dependent growth. Using a model of U87 cell line, we show that blocking glutamate release by Riluzole inhibits cell proliferation. Glutamate-dependent growth is effectively inhibited by a combination of Iressa, an inhibitor of EGFR activation and LY341495, a group II mGluR inhibitor. Treatment of U87 cells with a combination of Iressa and LY341495 inhibits proliferation as indicated by Ki-67 staining, induces apoptosis and inhibits migration of U87 cells more effectively than the treatment by Iressa or LY341495 alone. These results demonstrate that a combinatorial therapy with Iressa and LY341495 is more effective due to synergistic effects of these drugs in inhibiting the growth of glioblastoma
