Інноваційна модернізація економіки як основа реалізації національних економічних інтересів
The need for this study can be explained by the fact that the solution of the problems in the development of the system of management that have emerged under critical conditions of permanent political and economic instability, institutional uncertainty requires the development of the system of measures aimed at engaging driving forces of economic transformation. The basis for such social transformation is the implementation of social–economic transformations of efficient models of the ratio of economic interests and innovative modernization of economy as the basis for their achievements. The aim of the research is revealing the role of the innovative modernization of the economy in the formation and implementation of the national economic interests. The methods of scientific research are abstract–logical, statistical, induction and deduction. Based on the evaluation of activation of the driving forces of economic transformation, we defined the need for implementing in the transformation practice of the efficient models of formation of economic interests. The necessity was substantiated of the formation and development of the innovative modernization of the economy as a basis for achieving the level of competitiveness of the national economic system, adequate to the goals and needs of the transformational period under conditions of growing global competition. We proposed the ways of reconciling the economic interests of representatives of business structures with the national economic interests of Ukraine. The article reveals the role of the state in creating the institutional environment, the most efficient forms and methods of economic management of innovative modernization of the national economy were determined. We proposed the measures to consolidate the efforts of all the participants of the innovative modernization of the economy, which imply a synthesis of the provisions of the neoclassical and Keynesian doctrine with the activities of the state, adapted to modern realities of Ukraine, the mechanisms of self––regulation of the market. In subsequent research it is suggested to implement the development of the institutional environment of competing economic interests of economic entities, to motivate them to engage into activities in the field of new technologies
Mapping the Early Cortical Folding Process in the Preterm Newborn Brain
In the developing human brain, the cortical sulci formation is a complex process starting from 14 weeks of gestation onward. The potential influence of underlying mechanisms (genetic, epigenetic, mechanical or environmental) is still poorly understood, because reliable quantification in vivo of the early folding is lacking. In this study, we investigate the sulcal emergence noninvasively in 35 preterm newborns, by applying dedicated postprocessing tools to magnetic resonance images acquired shortly after birth over a developmental period critical for the human cortex maturation (26-36 weeks of age). Through the original three-dimensional reconstruction of the interface between developing cortex and white matter and correlation with volumetric measurements, we document early sulcation in vivo, and quantify changes with age, gender, and the presence of small white matter lesions. We observe a trend towards lower cortical surface, smaller cortex, and white matter volumes, but equivalent sulcation in females compared with males. By precisely mapping the sulci, we highlight interindividual variability in time appearance and interhemispherical asymmetries, with a larger right superior temporal sulcus than the left. Thus, such an approach, included in a longitudinal follow-up, may provide early indicators on the structural basis of cortical functional specialization and abnormalities induced by genetic and environmental factor
Diffusion-Weighted Spectroscopy: A Novel Approach to Determine Macromolecule Resonances in Short-Echo Time H-1-MRS
Quantification of short-echo time proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy results in >18 metabolite concentrations (neurochemical profile). Their quantification accuracy depends on the assessment of the contribution of macromolecule (MM) resonances, previously experimentally achieved by exploiting the several fold difference in T-1. To minimize effects of hetero-geneities in metabolites T-1, the aim of the study was to assess MM signal contributions by combining inversion recovery (IR) and diffusion-weighted proton spectroscopy at high-magnetic field (14.1 T) and short echo time (=8 msec) in the rat brain. IR combined with diffusion weighting experiments (with delta/Delta = 1.5/200 msec and b-value = 11.8 msec/mu m(2)) showed that the metabolite nulled spectrum (inversion time = 740 msec) was affected by residuals attributed to creatine, inositol, taurine, choline, N-acetylaspartate as well as glutamine and glutamate. While the metabolite residuals were significantly attenuated by 50%, the MM signals were almost not affected (<8%). The combination of metabolite-nulled IR spectra with diffusion weighting allows a specific characterization of MM resonances with minimal metabolite signal contributions and is expected to lead to a quantification of the neurochemical profile. Developmental Changes and Injury Induced Disruption of the Radial Organization of the Cortex in the Immature Rat Brain Revealed by In Vivo Diffusion Tensor MRI
During brain development, morphological changes modify the cortex from its immature radial organization to its mature laminar appearance. Applying in vivo diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), the microstructural organization of the cortex in the immature rat was analyzed and correlated to neurohistopathology. Significant differences in apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) were detected between the external (I-III) and deep (IV-VI) cortical layers in postnatal day 3 (P3) and P6 pups. With cortical maturation, ADC was reduced in both cortical regions, whereas a decrease in FA was only seen in the deep layers. A distinct radial organization of the external cortical layers with the eigenvectors perpendicular to the pial surface was observed at both ages. Histology revealed maturational differences in the cortical architecture with increased neurodendritic density and reduction in the radial glia scaffolding. Early DTI after hypoxia-ischemia at P3 shows reduced ADC and FA in the ipsilateral cortex that persisted at P6. Cortical DTI eigenvector maps reveal microstructural disruption of the radial organization corresponding to regions of neuronal death, radial glial disruption, and astrocytosis. Primary cortical folding in the human newborn: an early marker of later functional development
In the human brain, the morphology of cortical gyri and sulci is complex and variable among individuals, and it may reflect pathological functioning with specific abnormalities observed in certain developmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. Since cortical folding occurs early during brain development, these structural abnormalities might be present long before the appearance of functional symptoms. So far, the precise mechanisms responsible for such alteration in the convolution pattern during intra-uterine or post-natal development are still poorly understood. Here we compared anatomical and functional brain development in vivo among 45 premature newborns who experienced different intra-uterine environments: 22 normal singletons, 12 twins and 11 newborns with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and dedicated post-processing tools, we investigated early disturbances in cortical formation at birth, over the developmental period critical for the emergence of convolutions (26-36 weeks of gestational age), and defined early ‘endophenotypes' of sulcal development. We demonstrated that twins have a delayed but harmonious maturation, with reduced surface and sulcation index compared to singletons, whereas the gyrification of IUGR newborns is discordant to the normal developmental trajectory, with a more pronounced reduction of surface in relation to the sulcation index compared to normal newborns. ПРОФИЛАКТИЧЕСКАЯ ЭФФЕКТИВНОСТЬ ВАКЦИНАЦИИ ПРОТИВ ПНЕВМОКОККОВОЙ ИНФЕКЦИИ У ДЕТЕЙ С ХРОНИЧЕСКОЙ ЛОР-ПАТОЛОГИЕЙ
The article presents the results of study of clinical and immunological effectiveness of the application of the vaccine «Pneumo-23» for children of 3—7 years old, suffering from chronic nasopharyngeal ring diseases of pneumococcal etiology. The authors revealed reduction of the frequency of cases of the main disease exacerbation and cases of ARI adjoining. Reduction of the main clinical symptoms of chronic adenoiditis and chronic tonsillitis was registered. Number of specific IgMand IgGAT to PS of the vaccine doubled reliably.Представлены результаты изучения клинико-иммунологической эффективности использования вакцины «Пневмо-23» у детей 3—7 лет, страдающих хроническими заболеваниями носоглоточного кольца пневмококковой этиологии. Выявлено снижение частоты обострений основного заболевания, присоединения ОРЗ, уменьшение основных клинических симптомов хронического аденоидита и хронического тонзиллита, а также достоверный двукратный прирост специфических IgМ-АТ и IgG-АТ к ПС, входящим в состав вакцины «Пневмо 23».
Brain imaging and human nutrition: which measures to use in intervention studies?
The present review describes brain imaging technologies that can be used to assess the effects of nutritional interventions in human subjects. Specifically, we summarise the biological relevance of their outcome measures, practical use and feasibility, and recommended use in short- and long-term nutritional studies. The brain imaging technologies described consist of MRI, including diffusion tensor imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and functional MRI, as well as electroencephalography/magnetoencephalography, near-IR spectroscopy, positron emission tomography and single-photon emission computerised tomography. In nutritional interventions and across the lifespan, brain imaging can detect macro- and microstructural, functional, electrophysiological and metabolic changes linked to broader functional outcomes, such as cognition. Imaging markers can be considered as specific for one or several brain processes and as surrogate instrumental endpoints that may provide sensitive measures of short- and long-term effects. For the majority of imaging measures, little information is available regarding their correlation with functional endpoints in healthy subjects; therefore, imaging markers generally cannot replace clinical endpoints that reflect the overall capacity of the brain to behaviourally respond to specific situations and stimuli. The principal added value of brain imaging measures for human nutritional intervention studies is their ability to provide unique in vivo information on the working mechanism of an intervention in hypothesis-driven research. Selection of brain imaging techniques and target markers within a given technique should mainly depend on the hypothesis regarding the mechanism of action of the intervention, level (structural, metabolic or functional) and anticipated timescale of the intervention's effects, target population, availability and costs of the technique
