    Get PDF
Cloud computing in today\u27s computing environment plays a vital role, by providing efficient and scalable computation based on pay per use model. To make computing more reliable and efficient, it must be efficient, and high resources utilized. To improve resource utilization and efficiency in cloud, task scheduling and resource allocation plays a critical role. Many researchers have proposed algorithms to maximize the throughput and resource utilization taking into consideration heterogeneous cloud environments. This work proposes an algorithm using DBSCAN (Density-based spatial clustering) for task scheduling to achieve high efficiency. The proposed DBScan-based task scheduling algorithm aims to improve user task quality of service and improve performance in terms of execution time, average start time and finish time. The experiment result shows proposed model outperforms existing ACO and PSO with 13% improvement in execution time, 49% improvement in average start time and average finish time. The experimental results are compared with existing ACO and PSO algorithms for task scheduling

Fault aware task scheduling in cloud using min-min and DBSCAN

Cloud computing leverages computing resources by managing these resources globally in a more efficient manner as compared to individual resource services. It requires us to deliver the resources in a heterogeneous environment and also in a highly dynamic nature. Hence, there is always a risk of resource allocation failure that can maximize the delay in task execution. Such adverse impact in the cloud environment also raises questions on quality of service (QoS). Resource management for cloud application and service have bigger challenges and many researchers have proposed several solutions but there is room for improvement. Clustering the resources clustering and mapping them according to task can also be an option to deal with such task failure or mismanaged resource allocation. Density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) is a stochastic approach-based algorithm which has the capability to cluster the resources in a cloud environment. The proposed algorithm considers high execution enabled powerful data centers with least fault probability during resource allocation which reduces the probability of fault and increases the tolerance. The simulation is cone using CloudsSim 5.0 tool kit. The results show 25% average improve in execution time, 6.5% improvement in number of task completed and 3.48% improvement in count of task failed as compared to ACO, PSO, BB-BC (Bib = g bang Big Crunch) and WHO(Whale optimization algorithm)

Background: The objective of the study was to assess the clinical and functional outcome of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using posterior cruciate stabilizing (PS) design in tertiary rural government hospital with limited infrastructure using the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score and to offer a low cost option and assess post-operative pain relief in rural poor of the society and to compare the WOMAC score pre and post-operatively.Methods: The study was conducted on patients who have undergone primary total knee arthroplasty in Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College and Hospital, Aurangabad from December 2018 to December 2019. The patients were assessed using the WOMAC score and X-rays. These evaluations were performed at 3, 6 and 12 months follow up visits. Results: At 1 year follow up of 30 knees, the average pre-op WOMAC score of 79.5 improved to an average post-op score of 42.3. And knee flexion increased from 96.3 degree to 108.5 degrees both of which with a p value <0.0001 are statistically significant. One patient each had wound dehiscence and superficial infection. Patient satisfaction after the procedure was good-both in unilateral and staged bilateral TKA.Conclusions: TKA reduces knee pain significantly and improves the functional ability of the patient. And to be able to do so in a tertiary government rural setup with no laminar airflow and with such great efficacy and minimal complications bodes well for the number of people living in rural areas suffering from knee pain

Automatic orienting towards face-like stimuli in early childhood

    Get PDF
Newborn infants orient preferentially toward face-like or “protoface” stimuli and recent studies suggest similar reflexive orienting responses in adults. Little is known, however, about the operation of this mechanism in childhood. An attentional-cueing procedure was therefore developed to investigate protoface orienting in early childhood. Consistent with the extant literature, 5- to 6-year-old children (n = 25) exhibited orienting toward face-like stimuli; they responded faster when target location was cued by the appearance of a protoface stimulus than when location was cued by matched control patterns. The potential of this procedure to investigate the development of typical and atypical social perception is discussed

Neonatal lupus erythematous – A report of three cases

    Get PDF
Neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE) is a rare acquired autoimmune disorder clinically characterized by skin lesions that resemble those of subacute or discoid lupus erythematosus and/or congenital heart bock. Skin and cardiac manifestations coexist only in 10% of the patients. It is caused by transplacental passage of maternal autoantibodies, usually anti-Ro/SS-A and /or anti-La/SS-B and less commonly anti-U1 ribonucleoprotein. Mothers of the infants with NLE are either asymptomatic or diagnosed with autoimmune disease. We describe 3 neonates with clinical and immunological findings compatible with NLE, their progress and outcome

Multiaxial fatigue studies on carbon steel piping material of Indian PHWRs

    Get PDF
The tests studies and analyses have been carried out in the area of “Multiaxial Fatigue” with an objective to improve the damage assessment methodologies and design rules. Nearly 50 numbers of fatigue tests were conducted on solid and tubular specimens of SA333Gr.6 material under pure axial, pure shear and combined axial-torsion in-phase/ out-of-phase loading combinations. A software has been developed for the evaluation of multiaxial fatigue damage for the analyses of tests data using different invariant fatigue models such as ASME Sec.III code procedures, von-Mises etc. The fatigue crack initiation life was predicted using the best fit axial fatigue life curve (without use of safety factors). These tests and their analyses have helped in understanding the fatigue failure behavior of piping material under complex cyclic loadings where the principal directions rotate during a loading cycle. The crack initiation angles have also been measured by analyzing the image of the tested specimens. The measured crack angles will help in validation of the critical plane based models

Till now no single scheme of surgical treatment has gained wide acceptance in rupture of extensor pollicis longus tendon (EPL). The result of treatment of a patient with spontaneous rupture of EPL in IV zone by B. Boichev with ultrasonographic examination is presented in the paper. In surgical treatment we used Pulvertaft technique in transfer of tendon of m. extensor indicis proprius (EIP) to EPL. After 3 months of surgery the patient showed a full range of motions of the thumb joints and functional restoring. Ultrasonography can be considered as an accurate and cost effective diagnostic investigation in evaluation of cases with the suspected extensor pollicis longus tendon rupture and tendinosis. This case report shows that technique of EIP to EPL transfer is effective and reliable surgical option
