Desarrollo de competencias multilingües, aprendizaje de la ciencia y de su didáctica : oportunidades de los contextos AICLE para la formación de profesores de ciencias

Se presenta un análisis de la interacción en un contexto AICLE para la formación de profesores de ciencias (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona). Los datos provienen de videograbaciones y transcripciones de una secuencia didáctica dondeseconstruye el modelo escolar de ser vivo. Se analizan alternancias micro y secuenciales en el uso de la lengua extranjeray se relacionan con los niveles de competencias multilingües. Describimos cómo los cambios en el uso de las lenguas (catalán, castellano e inglés) están asociados con la construcción de explicaciones científicas y el desarrollo del conocimiento profesional para la enseñanza de las ciencias. Ratificamos que estos contextos AICLE favorecen el aprendizaje integrado de las ciencias y la lengua extranjera

Una propuesta fundamentada para analizar la interacción de contextos AICLE en la formación inicial del profesorado de ciencias

Este artículo plantea un enfoque metodológico fundamentado que permite caracterizar el discurso de la formación inicial del profesorado de ciencias de educación primaria desarrollado en un contexto AICLE (Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenido y Lengua Extranjera). A partir de una perspectiva sociocultural y utilizando las orientaciones del análisis conversacional, logramos analizar el discurso producido a través de la interacción en pequeños grupos durante el desarrollo de una actividad experimental en el ámbito de la modelización de los seres vivos, en la que los estudiantes utilizan tres lenguas: el catalán, el castellano y el inglés. Las estrategias de análisis incluyen la identificación de acciones discursivas y procesos discursivos en cada uno de los tres campos que caracterizan la acción comunicativa de los estudiantes: el campo de las ciencias, el campo de la lengua extranjera y el campo de la didáctica de las ciencias. Finalmente se identifican preguntas que orientan un análisis más profundo dentro de cada campo y a través de los campos, las cuales permiten abordar la pregunta inicial del trabajo: ¿Cómo se aprende didáctica de las ciencias en contextos AICLE?The paper presents a theoretical and methodological approach to the analysis of primary science teacher education discourse developed within a CLIL context (Content and Language Integrated Learning). From an integrated perspective using both a sociocultural and a conversational analysis approaches the study undertakes the analysis of discourse produced within small group interactions during a multilingual laboratory work activity dealing with the living being model in which student teachers used three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English. The analysis strategies include the identification of discursive actions and processes within each of the three fields that characterize students' communicative actions: the field of science, the field of English, and the field of science education. Finally the questions that orient the analysis within and across fields are presented whose general aim is constituted by the main question: How can learning in CLIL science teacher education contexts occur

Completeness in supergravity constructions

We prove that the supergravity r- and c-maps preserve completeness. As a consequence, any component H of a hypersurface {h=1} defined by a homogeneous cubic polynomial such that -d^2 h is a complete Riemannian metric on H defines a complete projective special Kahler manifold and any complete projective special Kahler manifold defines a complete quaternionic Kahler manifold of negative scalar curvature. We classify all complete quaternionic Kahler manifolds of dimension less or equal to 12 which are obtained in this way and describe some complete examples in 16 dimensions.Comment: 29 page

S-duality in Twistor Space

In type IIB string compactifications on a Calabi-Yau threefold, the hypermultiplet moduli space $M_H$ must carry an isometric action of the modular group SL(2,Z), inherited from the S-duality symmetry of type IIB string theory in ten dimensions. We investigate how this modular symmetry is realized at the level of the twistor space of $M_H$, and construct a general class of SL(2,Z)-invariant quaternion-Kahler metrics with two commuting isometries, parametrized by a suitably covariant family of holomorphic transition functions. This family should include $M_H$ corrected by D3-D1-D(-1)-instantons (with fivebrane corrections ignored) and, after taking a suitable rigid limit, the Coulomb branch of five-dimensional N=2 gauge theories compactified on a torus, including monopole string instantons. These results allow us to considerably simplify the derivation of the mirror map between type IIA and IIB fields in the sector where only D1-D(-1)-instantons are retained.Comment: 29 pages, 1 figur

Evolución del lenguaje en un proceso de modelización científica: una visión socio-cultural y dialógica

Se presenta un análisis de los procesos de modelización científica que implementan los futuros profesores de ciencias mientras construyen el modelo escolar de ser vivo. Dicho análisis se sustenta en un marco teórico-metodológico que conjunta la perspectiva sociocultural y dialógica del lenguaje. Los resultados permiten caracterizar el lenguaje (espontáneo, cotidiano, ingenuo controversial, dialógico e inconcluso) y asociar sus características a la presencia o ausencia de acciones propias de la actividad científica tales como: describir el diseño experimental, elaborar y validar hipótesis, análisis del error y usar evidencias

D3-instantons, Mock Theta Series and Twistors

The D-instanton corrected hypermultiplet moduli space of type II string theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau threefold is known in the type IIA picture to be determined in terms of the generalized Donaldson-Thomas invariants, through a twistorial construction. At the same time, in the mirror type IIB picture, and in the limit where only D3-D1-D(-1)-instanton corrections are retained, it should carry an isometric action of the S-duality group SL(2,Z). We prove that this is the case in the one-instanton approximation, by constructing a holomorphic action of SL(2,Z) on the linearized twistor space. Using the modular invariance of the D4-D2-D0 black hole partition function, we show that the standard Darboux coordinates in twistor space have modular anomalies controlled by period integrals of a Siegel-Narain theta series, which can be canceled by a contact transformation generated by a holomorphic mock theta series.Comment: 42 pages; discussion of isometries is amended; misprints correcte

Engaging without over-powering: A case study of a FLOSS project

Copyright @ 2010 IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.The role of Open Source Software (OSS) in the e-learning business has become more and more fundamental in the last 10 years, as long as corporate and government organizations have developed their educational and training programs based on OSS out-of-the-box tools. This paper qualitatively documents the decision of the largest UK e-learning provider, the Open University, to adopt the Moodle e-learning system, and how it has been successfully deployed in its site after a multi-million investment. A further quantitative study also provides evidence of how a commercial stakeholder has been engaged with, and produced outputs for, the Moodle community. Lessons learned from this experience by the stakeholders include the crucial factors of contributing to the OSS community, and adapting to an evolving technology. It also becomes evident how commercial partners helped this OSS system to achieve the transition from an “average” OSS system to a successful multi-site, collaborative and community-based OSS project

Atender la seguridad alimentaria a través de programas educativos en comunidad: el caso de la producción de leche en Jalisco, México

Presentamos un programa de educación ambiental desarrollado en comunidades productoras de leche de vaca en Jalisco, México; cuya finalidad es atender la seguridad alimentaria y reducir la vulnerabilidad frente a las consecuencias del cambio climático. Se utilizó una Metodología de Análisis de Capacidad y Vulnerabilidad Climática basada en la Comunidad. Con visitas de campo, entrevistas en profundidad y cuestionarios, productores de leche, investigadores, educadores y estudiantes de un programa de maestría, documentaronla problemática. Posteriormente se diseñó un programa de educación ambiental cuya efectividad se manifiesta no sólo en el incremento de la capacidad de adaptación de la comunidad afectada, sino en que propició una práctica colectiva de alfabetización científica

D-instantons and twistors: some exact results

We present some results on instanton corrections to the hypermultiplet moduli space in Calabi-Yau compactifications of Type II string theories. Previously, using twistor methods, only a class of D-instantons (D2-instantons wrapping A-cycles) was incorporated exactly and the rest was treated only linearly. We go beyond the linear approximation and give a set of holomorphic functions which, through a known procedure, capture the effect of D-instantons at all orders.
