New Bounds for the Dichromatic Number of a Digraph
The chromatic number of a graph , denoted by , is the minimum
such that admits a -coloring of its vertex set in such a way that each
color class is an independent set (a set of pairwise non-adjacent vertices).
The dichromatic number of a digraph , denoted by , is the minimum
such that admits a -coloring of its vertex set in such a way that
each color class is acyclic.
In 1976, Bondy proved that the chromatic number of a digraph is at most
its circumference, the length of a longest cycle.
Given a digraph , we will construct three different graphs whose chromatic
numbers bound .
Moreover, we prove: i) for integers , and with and for each , that if all
cycles in have length modulo for some ,
then ; ii) if has girth and there are integers
and , with such that contains no cycle of length
modulo for each , then ;
iii) if has girth , the length of a shortest cycle, and circumference
, then , which improves,
substantially, the bound proposed by Bondy. Our results show that if we have
more information about the lengths of cycles in a digraph, then we can improve
the bounds for the dichromatic number known until now.Comment: 14 page
Three-dimensional numerical analysis of flow structure and sediment transport process in open channels
This research project focuses on the analysis and prediction of flow structures and sediment transport process in open channels by using three-dimensional numerical models.
The numerical study was performed using the open source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver based on the finite volume method (FVM) – OpenFOAM. Turbulence is treated by means of the two main methodologies; i.e. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS). The free surface is tracked using the Volume of Fluid method (VOF). In addition, a new multi-dimensional model for sediment transport based on the Eulerian two-phase mathematical formulation is applied.
The results obtained from the different numerical configurations are verified and validated against experimental data sets published in important research journals. The main characteristics of the flow structures are studied by using three set-up cases in steady and unsteady-state (transient) hydraulic flow conditions. On the other hand, the new multi-dimensional model for sediment transport is applied to predict the local scour caused by submerged wall jet test-case.
Non-uniform structured elements are used in the grid configuration of the computational domains. A mesh sensitivity analysis is performed in each test-case study in order to obtain independent grid results. This analysis provides a balance between accuracy and optimal computational time.
The results demonstrate that the three-dimensional numerical configurations satisfactorily reproduce the temporal variation of the different variables under study with correct trends and high correlation with the experimental values.
Regarding the analysis and prediction of the flow structures, the results show the importance of the turbulence approach in the numerical configuration. On the other hand, the results of the new multi-dimensional two-phase model allow to analyze the full dynamics for sediment transport (concentration profile).
Although the numerical results are satisfactory, the application of three-dimensional numerical models in field-scale cases requires a high computational resource.

This paper will focus in the use of death and afterlife in his narrative as a form of political imposture from two different perspectives. Firstly, his portrayal of death was a tool to differentiate himself from the Catholic notion of death, which he did through peppering his work with impossible and paranormal deaths, ghosts and specters, dissociating his oeuvre from National Catholicism and criticizing Francoism (which will be proven in the analysis of “A Sausage for Franz”). Secondly, Quiñones deployed death as a tool for social critique and denouncement of the abuses of capitalist society, as in the already mentioned short-story and in “The Witness,” two texts related not only by death, but also by two protagonists linked to music (music of the Romanticism and flamenco, respectively)
Feasibility and reliability of a Physical Fitness test battery in individuals with Down Syndrome
Background: Down syndrome (DS) is a genetic disorder that occurs because of an abnormal
division between cells that results in an extra copy of chromosome 21. Some studies show that
physical exercise in people with DS increases some cognitive capacities, such as memory, and improves
the quality of life. Aim: The main aim of this study was to perform an analysis of the reliability
and feasibility of the SAMU-Disability Fitness (DISFIT) battery in adults with DS. Methods: A
cross-sectional study with a test–retest design was performed in a maximum interval of 2 weeks in
37 subjects (11 women and 26 men) aged between 21 and 58 years old with DS. Eight field-based
fitness tests were proposed to assess the physical fitness (PF) of adults with DS: Body Mass Index
(BMI), Waist Circumference (WC), the Timed Up and Go test (TUG), the Deep Trunk Flexibility test
(DTF), the Hand Grip test (HG), the Timed Stand Test (TST), the 30-s Sit-Up (SUP) and the 6-Min
Walk Test (6MWT). Results: The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) in all the tests was good
and high (>0.80), except for the 6MWT, whose reliability was fair. Conclusion: The SAMU-DISFIT
battery is a reliable and feasible physical fitness battery which has been created with the purpose
of establishing tests which measure the four basic components of PF (flexibility, cardiorespiratory
fitness, musculoskeletal fitness and motor fitness) in adults with D
