    Get PDF
[TaCp★Cl4](Cp★ = η5-C5Me5) reacts with isocyanides and amines to give the pseudo-octahedral adducts [TaCp★Cl4L] (L = 2,6-Me2C6H3NC, 1; 2,4,6-Me3C6H2NC, 2; tBuNC, 3; or C6H5NH2, 4). Reduction of 1, or alternatively of [TaCp★Cl4] in the presence of stoichiometric amounts of isocyanide, with two equivalents of Na/Hg gives the diamagnetic pseudo-octahedral tantalum(III) complex, [TaCp★Cl2(CN-2,6-Me2C6H3)35. Reaction of 4 with two equivalents of LiNEt2 affords the pseudo-octahedral imido complex [TaCp★Cl2(NC6H5). 6. All the complexes were characterized by usual IR and NMR spectroscopic methods and the molecular structure of I was confirmed by X-ray diffraction methods

    Get PDF
Populations of wild grapevine, Vitis vinifera L. subsp. sylvestris (Gmelin) Hegi, were discovered in S.W. of the Iberian Peninsula over the last years. Location, ecological aspects, sanitary characteristics, including the ELISA test to detect specific virus attack, are described. In vitro propagation and conservation are also considered. The paper also contains a global description of female and male individuals. This material could be used to start breeding programs of cultivated varieties and also to restore riverbank forests, which constitute one of the worst preserved ecosystems in the area

Acetazolamide in the resolution of cerebrospinal fluid cutaneous fistula after peridural analgesia: Case report1

    Get PDF
AbstractBackgroundCerebrospinal fluid cutaneous fistula following spinal anaesthesia is a serious and rare complication which requires a prompt diagnosis. However, the treatment management is not well defined.Clinical caseFemale aged 50 with a stage IIB cervical carcinoma, who had a peridural catheter inserted at lumbar level. Three days after surgery she refers severe headache, which was corroborated by leakage of cerebrospinal fluid through the puncture. She was prescribed antibiotics and acetazolamide 250mg every 8hours for five days with a favourable outcome.ConclusionIn this case, management with acetazolamide and suture of the fistula inhibits cerebrospinal fluid leakage, without the need for a blood patch

SORPTION OF LINEAR ALKYLBENZENE SULFONATES AND SULFOPHENYLCARBOXYLIC ACIDS ON MARINE SEDIMENTS

    Get PDF
The sorption of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) and of their main biodegradation intermediates, sulfophenylcarboxylic acids (SPC) has been characterized in marine sediments. The required equilibrium time for undecylbenzene sulfonate (C11LAS) sorption is 12 h, and 24 h for sulfophenyl undecanoic acid (C11SPC). C11LAS sorption decreases with temperature due to the exothermic character of this process. C11SPC sorption is less complete and less homogeneous than for C11LAS. The alkylic or carboxylic chain length (C10-C13) is correlated positively with the partition coefficient, and the effect of the carboxylic group is more significant than that of the additional methylene group. Sorption of LAS and SPC homologues (C10-C13) are reversible processes. Desorption of SPC homologues is almost complete, but the desorption percentage of LAS homologue decreases with alkylic chain length. Small fractions of sorbed LAS homologues could take longer to be desorbed than the times covered by this study. This research has been supported by the Environmental and Climate Program of the European Commission PRISTINE (Contract ENV4-CT97-494) from Waste Water Cluster and by the Spanish Inter-Ministerial Science and Technology Commission “BALAS” project (CICYT, REN2001-2980-C02-01/HID)

    Get PDF

In this work, a theoretical review about the last tools used to assessment the executive functioning (EF) in people with intellectual disability (ID) is presented. Despite the growing importance that the research is giving to the executive function in the cognitive profile of people with ID, there are few studies about the executive function in this population and there are few standardized available tests. Therefore, the aim of this work is to make available a set of instruments to assessment the EF in the ID that could be used by psychologists and educators.peerReviewe

Higher transactivation activity associated with LTR and Tat elements from HIV-1 BF intersubtype recombinant variants

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: HIV-1 is characterized by its rapid genetic evolution and high diversity as a consequence of its error-prone reverse transcriptase and genetic recombination. This latter mechanism is responsible for the creation of circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) found in nature. Previous studies from our lab group have shown that the epidemic in Argentina is characterized by one highly prevalent circulating recombinant form, CRF12_BF, and many related BF recombinant forms. Since transcriptional transactivation of the HIV-1 long terminal repeat (LTR) promoter element requires the essential viral Tat protein, since these genetic structures underwent recombination in variants widely spread in South America, the aim of this work was to study transcriptional activity associated with the recombinant LTR and Tat elements. RESULTS: Differential transcriptional activity was measured for the BF recombinant LTR/Tat complex that is present in widely spread viral variants was demonstrated. This analysis demonstrated a higher activity for the BF complex when compared to its B subtype counterpart. CONCLUSION: This study indicates structural and functional consequences of recombination events within the LTR promoter and Tat transactivator protein of a naturally occurring HIV-1 recombinant form
