    A developmental and genetic classification for malformations of cortical development: update 2012.

    Malformations of cerebral cortical development include a wide range of developmental disorders that are common causes of neurodevelopmental delay and epilepsy. In addition, study of these disorders contributes greatly to the understanding of normal brain development and its perturbations. The rapid recent evolution of molecular biology, genetics and imaging has resulted in an explosive increase in our knowledge of cerebral cortex development and in the number and types of malformations of cortical development that have been reported. These advances continue to modify our perception of these malformations. This review addresses recent changes in our perception of these disorders and proposes a modified classification based upon updates in our knowledge of cerebral cortical development

    The group approach to AdS space propagators: A fast algorithm

    In this letter we show how the method of [4] for the calculation of two-point functions in d+1-dimensional AdS space can be simplified. This results in an algorithm for the evaluation of the two-point functions as linear combinations of Legendre functions of the second kind. This algorithm can be easily implemented on a computer.     Background: Cervical cancer patients per hour has increased by 2.5 people. Women died because of cervical cancer are 1.1 per hours. Indonesia is the second country after Tiongkok with the largest number incidence of cancer. Pap smear is one of the screening programs to reduce the numbers of cervical cancer genesis. Moreover in Indonesia, the rates of screening Pap smear less than 5%. This study aimed to investigate path analyze of using pap smear with as early detection of cervical cancer by planned theory of behavior in women in Sewon 1 Public Health Center, Bantul.Subjects and Method: This was an observational analytic study with the direction cross sectional design. A total sample of 96 women with comprised 32 cases and 64 control with fixed-disease sampling method. Data analysis used path analysis.Results: The results show there is influence between intentions and screening Pap smear (p=<0.000), perceived behavioral control with Pap smear test (p=0.010). An indirectly interaction with the screening Pap smear through intention on attitudes (p=<0.001), subjective norms (p=0.036), and control behavior perceptions (p=0.034).Conclusion: from this study there are interactions directly and indirectly the uses of screening Pap smear based on planned of behavior theory.Keywords: Planned of behavior theory, screening pap smearCorrespondence:Fatimah Dewi Anggraeni.     Path Analysis on Factors Associated with the Risk of Scabies Among Students at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Blokagung, Banyuwangi, Indonesia

    Background: Scabies is an infectious disease that is particularly important in populations with low socioeconomic level in developing countries. Scabies is not life-threatening so usually get treatment is low. But actually the chronic and severe scabies can cause dangerous complications. This study aimed to analyze factors associated the students with scabies disease.Subjects and Methods: This was an observational analytical study with cross-sectional design. This was conducted at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School of Blokagung Banyuwangi, Indonesia in March 23 to April 30,2016. A total of 90 samples were amounted 30 students with scabies and 60 had not scabies. Data collection was using questionnaire. Data analysis used STATA 13.Results: Four variables associated with scabies was associated indirectly obtained between knowledge and myth was negative amounting to the value of -1.88 (p < 0.001) path coefficient between knowledge and healthy behaviors is positive that amounting to 1.68 with value (p = 0.016), the path coefficient between myth - 2:39 (p = 0.038), the path coefficient between allowance to health behaviors positive value that is equal to 2:00 (p = 0.026), the path coefficient between health behavior with scabies is negative in the amount - 3:43 (p < 0.001).Conclusion: The level of knowledge, myths, pocket money indirectly related to the incidence of scabies through healthy behaviors.     Effect of fluoridated toothpicks and dental flosses on enamel and dentine and on plaque composition in situ

    The aim was to evaluate the effect of two toothpicks and two dental flosses on demineralized enamel and dentine and on plaque composition, using an in situ model with simulated approximal spaces within dentures. Fifteen subjects with full dentures were recruited and 14 completed the study. It consisted of two crossover periods, the first comparing a birch toothpick with AmF and a birch toothpick with NaF, and the second comparing a dental floss with AmF + NaF and a dental floss without F. Between these four periods, there was a control period without any approximal cleaning. In small, rectangular sample holders, one enamel and one dentine specimen were embedded, forming a triangular, approximal-like space. Two sample holders were mounted in the premolar-molar region of the upper or lower dentures. The subjects used the toothpicks or dental flosses 3 times/day for 4 weeks. The results showed that all toothpicks and dental flosses inhibited further demineralization compared to the control period ( p <0.001). The dental flosses were somewhat more effective in this respect than the toothpicks, especially in dentine. There were relatively small numerical differences between AmF and NaF toothpicks, but in favour of NaF regarding mineral gain ( p <0.05). The fluoridated floss gave somewhat less lesion depth in dentine than the non-fluoridated floss ( p <0.01). Toothpicks and flosses resulted in lower counts of microorganisms in plaque compared to the control period ( p <0.001); the AmF toothpick gave a more pronounced reduction than the NaF toothpick ( p <0.001).     An Algebraic Approach to Linear-Optical Schemes for Deterministic Quantum Computing

    Linear-Optical Passive (LOP) devices and photon counters are sufficient to implement universal quantum computation with single photons, and particular schemes have already been proposed. In this paper we discuss the link between the algebraic structure of LOP transformations and quantum computing. We first show how to decompose the Fock space of N optical modes in finite-dimensional subspaces that are suitable for encoding strings of qubits and invariant under LOP transformations (these subspaces are related to the spaces of irreducible unitary representations of U(N)). Next we show how to design in algorithmic fashion LOP circuits which implement any quantum circuit deterministically. We also present some simple examples, such as the circuits implementing a CNOT gate and a Bell-State Generator/Analyzer.Comment: new version with minor modification

    Digenean trematodes of Seriolella porosa (Pisces, Centrolophidae) in San MatĆ­as Gulf, Argentina

    Seriolella porosa (Silver warehou) is an important fish resource in the Argentine Sea. No previous studies have been carried out to date on its parasite fauna. The present study aims to (i) identify the digenean trematodes that parasitize Silver warehou, (ii) estimate parasite frequency and abundance, and (iii) establish their relationship with fish size and sex. A total of 100 specimens of S. porosa from San MatĆ­as Gulf, Argentina were examined between September and October 2006. Host size and sex were determined. Parasites extracted from the stomach lumen were fixed, conserved in 5% formalin, and stained with Langeron's hydrochloric carmine. The following parameters were also determined: dispersion coefficient, prevalence, intensity, and parasite abundance. Differences in parasitism were assessed using non-parametric tests. Four adult digenean species were found in the stomach, namely Lecithocladium cristatum, Aponurus laguncula, Elytrophalloides oatesi and Gonocerca cf. phycidis. L. cristatum was not only dominant but also the most prevalent and abundant species. None of the digeneans showed interspecific association with each other and therefore they might follow different patterns of colonization (i. e., different intermediate hosts, seasonal and/or spatial distribution of the infective stages). Significant differences were observed among the digeneans analyzed in respect to the sex of the host. Results from this study show that Silver warehou plays a key role as a final host of a significant number of digeneans in the ecosystem.     Advancing functional connectivity research from association to causation

    Cognition and behavior emerge from brain network interactions, such that investigating causal interactions should be central to the study of brain function. Approaches that characterize statistical associations among neural time series-functional connectivity (FC) methods-are likely a good starting point for estimating brain network interactions. Yet only a subset of FC methods ('effective connectivity') is explicitly designed to infer causal interactions from statistical associations. Here we incorporate best practices from diverse areas of FC research to illustrate how FC methods can be refined to improve inferences about neural mechanisms, with properties of causal neural interactions as a common ontology to facilitate cumulative progress across FC approaches. We further demonstrate how the most common FC measures (correlation and coherence) reduce the set of likely causal models, facilitating causal inferences despite major limitations. Alternative FC measures are suggested to immediately start improving causal inferences beyond these common FC measures
