The analysis of the press in the province of Lleida between 1898 and 1939, both with
regard to the type involved (political, satirical, religious, sports, etc.) and its periodicity
(daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) becomes an essential tool for understanding the
phenomenon of the press as a decisive factor in the configuration and consolidation of
the society and culture of mass communication in Catalonia. In this respect, the analysis
is based and focused on interpreting the temporal dynamics of the press, on
distinguishing the different models of frequencies used and the characteristics and role
of each in the various regions or areas, and on studying the extent and effectiveness
of the regional presence of the press in terms of territory, populations, societies,
resources, political and social circumstances, etc. In short, all these features
instrumentalize and characterize it as modern mass media press in key years for its
dynamism, consolidation and development
Towards a flexible and secure runtime for embedded devices
International audienceAdvancing towards the Internet of Things, a need for bigger connectivity between every time smaller embedded devices is foreseen. In the near future, heterogeneous resource-restricted devices will probably have a set of services with a strong need for connection. Two needs are envisioned as mandatory: flexibility and security. There is firstly a need for some degree of isolation between services but there is also a need for services to be able to have their runtime altered without having to stop the whole platform. This generates a clash of interests and needs, since achieving both flexibility and security balanced is apparently incompatible. The purpose of this article is to explain the needs and requirements that such systems will most surely have, as well as inspiring technologies and related works, in order to advance towards a platform with flexible and secure services that will add bigger capabilities to the devices
Cardalia: una aplicació web per al intercambi de cartes col·leccionables
Treballs Finals de Grau d'Enginyeria Informà tica, Facultat de Matemà tiques, Universitat de Barcelona, Any: 2023, Director: Polyxeni Gkontra[en] Magic: The Gathering is a collectable card game (CCG) created in 1993 and played by more than
40 million people worldwide. It has over 20,000 cards with different effects on the game, making
it one of the most complex CCGs in the world.
Wizards of the Coast is the company that markets it. It offers mainly, as sale products, initiation
decks and card envelopes, the latter being the main mechanism for players to expand their card
collection and build their decks. On the other hand, there is an unofficial market for the sale of
loose cards including the shops specializing in the game and various online platforms.
Sometimes, even if there is such a market, players do not have the ability to purchase the cards
they want, either for economic reasons or due to a lack of product. At the same time, however,
they have many cards that they do not use and are useful in the game. Therefore, this project
consists of providing an online tool for Magic players to exchange cards with other players.
The project features Cardalia, a web application to enhance the Magic The Gathering game
community and the availability of their cards. The project aims to create an efficient, reliable and
robust web application that allows users to perform exchanges of Magic cards using a simple and
intuitive interface.
The application bases its architecture on the REST API style. Works with two different programs:
CardaliaAPI, the backend of the application programmed in Go, charged with storing user data
and obtaining card information; and CardaliaWEB, the frontend programmed with React,
javascript-based framework, charged with facilitating an online graphical interface that allows
users to exchange cards with each other
Influència de la composició en les propietats de cerà miques lliures de plom basades en (Bi0.5Na0.5)TiO3
Treballs Finals de Grau de QuÃmica, Facultat de QuÃmica, Universitat de Barcelona, Any: 2016, Tutora: Lourdes Mestres VilaPiezoelectric and ferroelectric materials are used in a wide range of applications , and lead zirconate titanate-based (PZT) ceramics are the most used piezoelectric materials. PZT shows great dielectric and functional properties. However, due to the cataloging of PZT as a hazardous material by the European Union the need for researching on lead-free ceramics with similar properties that PZT presents has increased. During lasts years, new materials not harmful for the environment and for human health have been studied.
Bismuth Sodium titanate (BNT) is presented as a possible candidate to replace PZT, as it shows good ferroelectric behavior with remanent polarization 38μC/cm2 and has the Curie temperature at 320ºC. However, a huge issue of BNT ceramics is that BNT is hard to polarize due to the high coercive field and high conductivity caused by the loss of volatile elements as bismuth and/or Sodium so BNT usage as a piezoelectric material is limited.
In order to follow the same strategy used in the PZT, in this work the ceramic method has been used to synthetize the bismuth Sodium titanate doped with barium titanate (BNT-BT). The (1-x)(Bi0.5Na0.5)TiO3-xBaTiO3 system has a MBP between x=0.06-0.07, a region where the rhombohedral and tetragonal phases coexist and wherein a relevant improvement of the functional properties of the ceramic is detected. In this essay, the BNT-BT was synthesized using 5% and 20% excess of Sodium with the purpose of studying how that excess affects the piezoelectric properties of the BNT-BT. BNT-BT with Sodium excess was prepared by solid state reaction as it is a reproducible and scalable method as well as economic and technology viable.
The temperature used for the calcinations of the mixture of the reagents was 700ºC. The resulting IR spectra of the calcined powder and the mixture of the reagents indicated the absence of carbonates and water on the calcined powder, and confirmed the formation of the perovskite structure of the BNT-BT after the treatment at 700ºC.Once the reaction was completed, and in order to densify the material, knowing that the best functional properties have a close relation with the density of the ceramics, BNT-BT ceramics were sintered at different temperatures 1200ºC, 1150ºC and 1100ºC.
The microstructuctural and compositional analysis of the surface of the ceramics using the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) coupled with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) show that the dense ceramics present a non homogeneous chemical composition on the surface on the ceramics where two different phases, one of BNT-BT and another of Sodium Titanate, were found. Regarding grain morphology, shape changes were found with the addition of more Sodium excess.
Based on the sintering temperature and the amount of Sodium, the materials present different crystalline structures and different degrees of crystallinity as was observed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The BNT-BT phases found were pseudocubic perovskite structure for ceramics with 5% Sodium excess sintered at 1150ºC and 1100ºC and triclinic for the 5% Sodium excess sintered at 1200ºC and all the ceramics sintered with a 20% of Sodium excess. On all the studied cases it was observed the presence of a secondary phase. It was proven that this phase found on the ceramics was Sodium Titanate which can be found with a monoclinic structure when is treated at 800ºC or rhombohedral structure at 900ºC.
Finally, using Impedance Spectroscopy (IS), it could be observed how the sintering temperature have not influence on its behavior as a dielectric material. However, the amount of Sodium excess affects the dielectric behavior of the material

Development of a Guide to Multidimensional Needs Assessment in the Palliative Care Initial Encounter (MAP).
Context
Ensuring patient-centered palliative care requires a comprehensive assessment of needs beginning in the initial encounter. However, there is no generally accepted guide for carrying out this multidimensional needs assessment as a first step in palliative intervention.
Objectives
To develop an expert panel-endorsed interview guide that would enable proactive and systematic Multidimensional needs Assessment in the Palliative care initial encounter (MAP).
Methods
A preliminary version of the MAP guide was drafted based on a published literature review, published semistructured interviews with 20 patients, 20 family carers, and 20 palliative care professionals, and a nominal group process with palliative care professionals and a representative of the national patient's association. Consensus regarding its content was obtained through a modified Delphi process involving a panel of palliative care physicians from across Spain.
Results
The published systematic literature review and qualitative study resulted in the identification of 55 needs, which were sorted and grouped by the nominal group. Following the Delphi process, the list of needs was reduced to 47, linked to six domains: Clinical history and medical conditions (n = 8), Physical symptoms (n = 17), Functional and cognitive status (n = 4), Psycho-emotional symptoms (n = 5), Social issues (n = 8), and Spiritual and existential concerns (n = 5).
Conclusion
MAP is an expert panel-endorsed semi-structured clinical interview guide for the comprehensive, systematic, and proactive initial assessment to efficiently assess multiple domains while adjusting to the needs of each patient. A future study will assess the feasibility of using the MAP guide within the timeframe of the palliative care initial encounter.post-print820 K
