Trapezoidal type inequalities related to h-convex functions with applications

A mapping M(t) is considered to obtain some preliminary results and a new trapezoidal form of Fejer inequality related to the h-convex functions. Furthermore the obtained results are applied to achieve some new inequalities in connection with special means, random variable and trapezoidal formula

Cognitive function, vascular events, and mortality in old age

The life expectancy of individuals has been almost doubled in the past century. The aging population brings challenges to the economic and medical burden of care-needed dependent older people limited by age-associated cognitive impairment. Age-associated cognitive decline is a meaningful experience that occurs over the lifespan. This thesis aimed to evaluate the association of cognitive performance with the risk of cardiovascular events and various causes of mortality in elderly populations. The lower cognitive function performance might be an early manifestation of clinically unrecognized cerebral and systemic vascular pathologies, which signals the future risk of cardiovascular events and mortality. In the present research, we included two longitudinal studies, the PROspective Study of Pravastatin in the Elderly at Risk (PROSPER) prospective randomized controlled trial in the elderly population of Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands that aimed to evaluate whether treatment with pravastatin decreases the risk of cardiovascular events, and Leiden 85-Plus Study which is a prospective population-based study of 85-year-old inhabitants of Leiden district, the Netherlands. Based on our findings and also considering results from other studies, we concluded that cognitive impairment associates with cardiovascular events and several causes of mortality in elderly individuals.LUMC / Geneeskund

COVID-19: The Immune Responses and Clinical Therapy Candidates.

The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), with rising numbers of patients worldwide, presents an urgent need for effective treatments. To date, there are no therapies or vaccines that are proven to be effective against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Several potential candidates or repurposed drugs are under investigation, including drugs that inhibit SARS-CoV-2 replication and block infection. The most promising therapy to date is remdesivir, which is US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for emergency use in adults and children hospitalized with severe suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19. Herein we summarize the general features of SARS-CoV-2's molecular and immune pathogenesis and discuss available pharmacological strategies, based on our present understanding of SARS-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infections. Finally, we outline clinical trials currently in progress to investigate the efficacy of potential therapies for COVID-19

A note on characterization of h-convex functions via Hermite-Hadamard type inequality

A characterization of h-convex function via Hermite-Hadamard inequality related to the h-convex functions is investigated. In fact it is determined that under what conditions a function is h-convex, if it satisfies the h-convex version of Hermite-Hadamard inequality

Bacterial causative agents of neonatal sepsis and their antibiotic susceptibility in neonatal intensive care units (Nicus) and neonatal wards in Iran: A systematic review

    Get PDF
Context: Sepsis is one of the most common causes of neonatal mortality, especially in developing countries. The purpose of this study was to systematically review the bacterial causative agents of neonatal sepsis and their antibiotic susceptibility in Iran. Material and Methods: We searched all previously published papers to gather related information on Iranian neonatal sepsis in international and national databases (in both Persian and English) from 2006 to 2018. The standard STROBE checklist was used for quality assessment. The data were analyzed by statistical methods with a random-effects model using Stata 14 software. Results: A total of 89,472 neonates with sepsis (presented in 17 studies) were included in this systematic review. The mortality rate of neonates was 28.0. The proportions of neonatal sepsis caused by Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria were 66.0 and 33.0, respectively. The most common bacteria causing neonatal sepsis were Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram-negative) and coagulase-negative staphylococci and Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive). Conclusions: Gram-negative bacteria are the most common causes of neonatal sepsis in Iran. Imipenem is the most effective antibiotic against Gram-negative bacilli and vancomycin against Gram-positive cocci causing neonatal sepsis in Iran. © 2020, Author(s)

Sharp Estimation Type Inequalities for Lipschitzian Mappings in Euclidean Sense on a Disk

    Get PDF
Some sharp trapezoid and midpoint type inequalities for Lipschitzian bifunctions defined on a closed disk in Euclidean sense are obtained by the use of polar coordinates. Also, bifunctions whose partial derivative is Lipschitzian are considered. A new presentation of Hermite-Hadamard inequality for convex function defined on a closed disk and its reverse are given. Furthermore, two mappings Ht and ht are considered to give some generalized Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities in the case that considered functions are Lipschitzian in Euclidean sense on a disk

Hermite–Hadamard’s trapezoid and mid-point type inequalities on a disk

    Get PDF
Abstract Some trapezoid and mid-point type inequalities related to the Hermite–Hadamard inequality on the disk of center C=(a,b) C=(a,b)C=(a,b) and radius R, D(C,R)⊆R2 D(C,R)R2D(C,R)\subseteq \mathbb{R}^{2}, are investigated. It is shown that the estimated value obtained in the trapezoid and mid-point type inequalities has a relation with the integral of the partial derivative of the considered function on ∂(C,R) (C,R)\partial (C,R), the boundary of D(C,R) D(C,R)D(C,R)

Estimation type results related to Fejér inequality with applications

Abstract This paper deals with some new theorems and inequalities about a Fejér type integral inequality which estimate the difference between the right and middle part in Fejér inequality with new bounds. Also some applications to higher moments of random variables, an error estimate for trapezoidal formula, and some inequalities in connection with special means are given
