: In the beverage industry, Brazil follows the worldwide trend of consuming healthy foods that offer health, convenience, innovation and pleasure. Therefore, the objective of this project was to study the stability of a guava and green coconut water drink, without sucrose and preservatives, bottled by thermal and aseptic processes, verifying its shelf life through physicochemical, microbiological and sensory analyzes for at least 17 days. The mixed beverage formulation was 35% guava pulp and 65% coconut water, two samples pasteurized at 90 °C/1 minute and packaged in glass (T90v) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) (T90p), the third pasteurized sample at 98 °C/10 minutes was filled into glass (T98v) and the fourth untreated sample was filled into PET (Tnat). To study the shelf life of the four mixed guava and coconut water beverages, pH, soluble solids, titratable acidity, sugars and vitamin C, microbiological and sensory analyzes were performed. In the physicochemical analyzes the oscillations were low in the two days (5º e 17º) analyzed. The Tnat sample presented total coliform counts on the 17th day of storage, and the T90v, T90p and T98v samples did not count the microorganisms analyzed during the 17 days. Sensory analysis was performed only on the T90v and T90p samples, on the fifth and seventeenth day, and the T90v drink presented better sensory acceptance, regarding the aroma attribute and the overall evaluation, taste perceptions and purchase intention.

atenção a crianças e adolescentes cronicamente adoecidos”. Nesse estudo discutimos
A análise teórica
Neste campo, a
interação humana é intensificada pelas circunstâncias do crescimento, desenvolvimento, sofrimento e morte da clientela. This is a Master’s Degree in Children and Women Health dissertation of IFF/FIOCRUZ,
which theme is The construction of resilience by the nursing staff in the attention to
chronically ill children and adolescents. We discuss professional resilience dialoguing with
hospital care and health promotion. There has been a significant increase in the number of
chronically ill children in the decades past the 60’s, altering the epidemiological profile and
entailing new human, scientific and technological dependencies. We question what attributes
and skills that promote resilience are developed by nursing professionals in their work with
this kind of patient. This study is relevant for contributing with the production of knowledge
on this theme e for proposing an interface between the medium and high complexity attention,
public health and the inherent socio-anthropological aspects. We start from the presupposition
that the continuous labor with chronic illnesses and death during infancy and adolescence
contributes to the construction of resilience by the nursing professional., where skills are
exhaustively put to test in the coping of hardships. The general goal of this research is to
analyse the process of resilience construction by the nursing staff in a situation of hospital
care to chronically ill children and adolescents. Specific objectives: identify attributes and
skills that favor this construction by these workers, better comprehend the strategies used by
nursing professionals in the process of resilience building and verify what are the marks
produced in the staff by the assistance to chronically ill children and adolescents. This is a
qualitative research that took place at pediatric units of a hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro,
in a scenario of attention to chronically ill children and adolescents. The subjects were 56
nursing workers. Data collection occurred in 3 distinct moments: application of a resilience
scale, group discussion for score analysis and semi-structured interview. The theoretical
analysis was organized following the precepts of the symbolic interactionism while
dialoguing with categories of resilience and chronic illness, trying to uncover possible
meanings related to the analytical object. The relational dimension of the analysis highlighted
3 thematic nuclei: 1) the relationship between adults and children; 2) the perspective of
violence that emerges in relations; 3) the chronicity as a mark that mediates interactions in
health care. We conclude that nursing workers lack a support network capable of assisting
them in the coping of hardships and the reframing of their assistancial practice. The work with
chronically ill children and adolescents presents peculiarities that demand more from the
professional than pure technical skill. In this field, human interaction is intensified by circumstances related to the growth, development, suffering and death of these patients
Water governance and social learning in the watershed subcommittee Cotia-Guarapiranga metropolitan region of São Paulo
This research analyzes the participatory process that preceded the creation of the Specific Law for the Guarapiranga Basin (Law nº. 12.233 of 16/01/2006), emphasizing aspects of water governance and social learning. The analysis was based on the experience of the watershed subcommittee Cotia-Guarapiranga (SCBH-CG) in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo (MRSP). In the negotiation process for the approval of this law, representatives of the segments of the Government, state and local governments of municipalities of the basin, and civil society were involved from 1999 to 2006. This experience demonstrated the challenges of a process of negotiation among different stakeholders and their interests in water use that affect the availability of water in the Guarapiranga basin, which supplies about 4 million people in the MRSP. The results show that, although the process has been characterized by many moments of tension, conflicts, uncertainties and institutional delays, it represented a significant advance in the consolidation of the integrated system of water resources management in the basin. It should be noted also that although outcomes may seem modest, considering the existing challenges, they represent an important progress in terms of its scope to strengthen democratic and shared management of water resources. In this context, the conclusion is that participatory democracy in water governance is a process of social learning that has been improved gradually to reach more sustainability

The anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) came from testosterone, with restricted use in
medicine in some specific clinical conditions, and when correctly administrated are well
tolerated. However, there is a potential risk to health the use of AAS without medical
prescription and above the recommended dose, becoming evident the collateral effects. The
risk of adverse cardiovascular effects increasing is a main concerning. The abusive use of
anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) is associated with left ventricular hypertrophy. The
decanoate of nandrolone (nandrolone) is one of the most used AAS in the world. The
regression of left ventricular hypertrophy is a point of interest because of the possible
reduction of bad prognostic that it causes to the individual. Beta-blockers can revert the
variations associated to ventricular remodeling and can show the progressive deterioration
benefits from ventricular dysfunction. In this study was evaluated the effects of metoprolol on
histomorphological profile of heart induced by AAS in rats. Four groups, each with 10 rats,
were studied: 1) Control Group (C): rats that received twice a week injections of olive oil
during five weeks as a control group (1 ml intramuscular);2) Nandrolone Group (N): rats that
received twice a week injections of nandrolone during five weeks (15 mg/kg weight,
intramuscular); 3) Metoprolol Group (M): rats that received twice a week injections of olive
oil (1 ml intramuscular) during five weeks and daily injections of metoprolol (4 mg/kg
weight, intraperitonial) during five weeks and 4) Nandrolone-Metoprolol Group (NM): rats
that received twice a week injections of nandrolone (15 mg/kg weight, intramuscular) during
five weeks and daily injections of metoprolol (4 mg/kg weight, intraperitonial) during five
weeks. The animals were weighed to control body weight and heart beat frequency. The heart
weight/animal weight ratio was quantified. The evaluation of ventricular remodelling was
obtained through histological processing and morphological analyses, measuring miocytes
diameter using HL Image 97. These microphotographies allowed the transversal diameter
measurement of, at least, five ventricular fibers, with a total of 125 fibers measured by
animal. The diameter of each fiber, in micrometers, was obtained in the HL Image 97
program.
It was verified that the animals from Nandrolone (N) group showed a significant
increasing of the ventricular fiber diameter compared with control group (C). In the
association of nandrolone and metoprolol (NM) the diameter was 50 % lower than the group
that received only nandrolone (N).
The nandrolone decanoate promotes ventricular remodeling characterized by the
increasing of myocardiocytes transversal diameter and the metoprolol associated with this
nandrolone causes cardioprotective and repairing effect, decreasing the induced myocardium
A relação
A avaliação do
anabolizante, exerce efeito modulador neste processo reduzindo a HVE induzida

Phytochemical characterization and bioactivity of ethanolic extracts on eggs of citrus blackfly
ABSTRACT: The main objectives of this study were to determine the content of secondary metabolites (carotenoids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and tannins) of Argemone mexicana L., Ipomoea carnea Jacq. subsp. Fistulosa (Martius ex Choisy), Amorimia rigida (A.Juss.) W. R. Anderson, Ricinus communis L. and Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & L. M. Perry using UV-VIS spectroscopy, and evaluating the bioactivity of the ethanolic extracts on citrus blackfly eggs (Aleurocanthus woglumi Ashby, 1915). Pera sweet orange leaves infested with citrus blackfly eggs were treated by immersion in 0.5, 1.0, 5.0, and 10%; each replicate consisted of 30 eggs. The experimental design was completely randomized, with seven treatments and four replications. Three immersions of leaves with eggs were performed, and the mortality was evaluated seven days after the procedure. Leaves were placed in Petri dishes and kept in incubators [25±1°C; relative humidity (RH) 60±5% and 12 hours]. S. aromaticum peduncle presented high content of tannins and phenolic compounds, while R. communis leaves showed high content of phenolic compounds. The commercial product Bioneem© caused egg infeasibility greater than 85% at all concentrations. Treatments (10%) that caused the greatest egg mortality were Bioneem© (94.74%), R. communis extract (81.58%), and the extract of S. aromaticum peduncle (80.57%)
