Gain prediction theory of single foil Gas Electron Multiplier detector was developed. Gas electron multiplier (GEM) detector with single foil was developed. Soft X-ray spectra with an energy of 5.9 keV emitted by the isotope Fe-55 were measured. On this basis, the dependence of gain and energy resolution from the detector voltage was determined. The simple theory of gain dependence on various detector parameters was developed. Preliminary results of the study confirmed the potential usefulness of the GEM detector as a substitute for the multiwire proportional chamber.Opracowano teorię wzmocnienia jednofoliowego detektora z gazowym powielaniem elektronów. Opracowano detektor z gazowym powielaniem elektronów z pojedynczą folią. Zmierzono widmo miękkiego promieniowania X, o energii 5,9 keV, emitowanego przez izotop Fe-55. Na tej podstawie wyznaczono zależność wzmocnienia i energetycznej zdolności rozdzielczej od napięcia zasilającego detektor. Opracowano prosta teorią zależności wzmocnienia od różnych parametrów detektora. Wstępne rezultaty badań potwierdzają potencjalną przydatność detektora GEM jako substytutu wielodrutowej komory proporcjonalnej

Tematyka olimpijska w audycjach Rozgłośni Polskiej Radia Wolna Europa

The author presents the Olympic theme in Polish broadcasts of Radio Free Europe, which was one of the main media of the information war during the Cold War. Did the policy influence the content of these programmes? The answer to this question is in the negative. The Olympic Games on Radio Free Europe were presented in a professional manner. Journalists knew sports and sporting competition was the most important for them. Medialny obraz pielgrzymek Jana Pawła II do Polski w latach osiemdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku na łamach „Tygodnika Mazowsze”

The article presents a reconstruction of the media image of two pilgrimages of John Paul II to Poland in the 1980s. Texts from Tygodnik Mazowsze, one of the most important periodicals in the so-called second publishing circuit (underground publishing), were chosen as the source material and magazine content analysis was selected as the method. It allowed for the identification of differences in the descriptions of both pilgrimages. Based on thematic categorization, it was possible to indicate that the media image of papal visits in Tygodnik Mazowsze was mainly influenced by the socio-political context. Descriptions of pilgrimages were part of the black-and-white image of the world.W artykule przedstawiono rekonstrukcję obrazu medialnego dwóch pielgrzymek Jana Pawła II do Polski w latach osiemdziesiątych XX wieku. Materiałem były  teksty z „Tygodnika Mazowsze”, jednego z najważniejszych czasopism drugiego obiegu wydawniczego. Jako metodę wybrano analizę zawartości czasopism. Pozwoliła ona na określenie różnic w opisach obu wizyt. Na podstawie kategoryzacji tematycznej udało się wskazać, że na obraz medialny pielgrzymek papieskich w „Tygodniku Mazowsze” wpływa głównie kontekst społeczno-polityczny. Agitation and propaganda function of the NSZZ „Solidarność” underground company bulletins

W artykule przedstawiono badania funkcji podziemnych biuletynów zakładowych NSZZ „Solidarność” ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem funkcji agitacyjno-propagandowej, która, zdaniem autora, jest wiodącą w badanym segmencie wydawnictw. Jako metodę badawczą wybrano analizę zawartości. Posłużyła ona do zbadania cech (funkcji) tekstów opublikowanych w analizowanych czasopismach. Pozwoliła także na zweryfikowanie postawionej hipotezy. Materiałem badań były wybrane tytuły prasy związkowej, która stanowiła poważną część prasy wydawanej nielegalnie w latach 80. ubiegłego stulecia.The article presents research on the functions of the NSZZ “Solidarność” underground company bulletins, with particular emphasis on the agitation and propaganda function, which, according to the author, is the leading in the studied publishing segment. Content analysis was chosen as the research method. It was used to examine the features (functions) of texts published in the analysed magazines. It also allowed the verification of the thesis. The research material was selected titles of the trade union press, which constituted a significant part of the press published illegally in the 80s of the last century

Mathematical Model for Thermal Investigations of Two -Speed Mine Motors

W silnikach indukcyjnych dwubiegowych przeznaczonych do pracy w podziemiach kopalń stosowane jest wodne chłodzenie kadłubów oraz tarcz łożyskowych. Z pomiarów cieplnych tego typu silników wynika, że w poszczególnych elementach konstrukcyjnych występują znaczne nierównomierności rozkładu temperatury. Najbardziej narażonymi na uszkodzenia termiczne elementami silnika dwubiegowego są uzwojenia stojana, w których przy znamionowym obciążeniu silnika różnica pomiędzy maksymalną a minimalną temperaturą (w zależności od mocy i typu silnika) osiąga wartość nawet kilkunastu °C. Stosowanie w obliczeniach projektowych [1, 5] tych silników uproszczonych modeli cieplnych, umożliwiających jedynie obliczenie średnich temperatur elementów, nie pozwala w pełni określić stopnia wykorzystania cieplnego poszczególnych jego elementów. Przeprowadzenie takiej oceny wymaga znajomości maksymalnych temperatur podstawowych elementów konstrukcyjnych silnika dwubiegowego w znamionowych warunkach zasilania i obciążenia.The paper presents a thermal model of two‑speed induction motors with water‑cooled frames. This model is made basing on the method of finite differences with the use of interpretation of the heat conduction equations in the form of thermal-electrical networks. It enables calculating temperature distributions in all constructional elements of induction motor and in the stream of water flowing in the frame as well as in the streams of air flowing in ventilation ducts of the rotor core and the frame. Basing on the model, a computer program that can be used for computer aided design is developed. Exemplary thermal calculations are carried out for the two-speed induction motor of 85/250 kW. The results obtained from simulations are compared with those from thermal measurements

Porównanie wpływu procesu druku 3D oraz procesu wtryskiwania na właściwości tribologiczne polilaktyd (PLA)

This article presents the results of studies on the tribological properties of linear wear and kinetic friction of polylactide processed by 3D printing (FFF) and injection moulding. Research was conducted on a pin on disc apparatus, and the test specimens used were polylactide cylinders with the counter specimen of C45 steel disc. Research was planned and executed with the planned experiment method for two variables: velocity of the counter specimen and pressure. The range of specified values was in the following sections: p = (0.2;0.6) MPa and v = (0.2;1.0) m/s . The conducted experiment had a target of defining the influence of a somewhat new method of 3D printing on the tribological properties of materials that might find application in prototyping plain bearings.W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań właściwości tribologicznych: zużycia liniowego oraz tarci kinetycznego dla polilaktydu przetworzonego w procesie druku 3D (FFF) oraz w procesie wtryskiwania. Badania przeprowadzone zostały na aparaturze pin on disc, próbkę stanowił materiał badany, przeciwpróbkę – tarcza stalowa C45. Badania zostały zaplanowane i przeprowadzone przy pomocy eksperymentu rotalnego dla dwóch zmiennych – prędkości obrotowej tarczy stalowej oraz nacisku. Zakres określonych wartości zawierał się w przedziałach: p = (0.2;0.6) MPa and v = (0.2;1.0) m/s . Przeprowadzony eksperyment miał na celu przedstawienie wpływu stosunkowo nowej metody druku 3D na właściwości tworzyw sztucznych, mogących znaleźć zastosowanie w wytwarzaniu prototypowych lub krótkobieżnych łożysk ślizgowych
