Conocimiento de la educación como marco de interpretación de la Teoría de la Educación como disciplina

This work tries to establish the limits of Theory of Education within the framework of Knowledge Education, as well as considering that Theory of Education is part of that knowledge. In this sense, depending on the way we consider or understand such Knowledge, we can put together Theory of Education in one way or another. With this purpose, in this work we analyze the evolution of Knowledge Education from an interpretative scheme based on the "Knowledge Growing Paradigm", out of which we deduce three ways to understand Education, what will logically result in three different approaches. Thus, we should bear in mind that, from each one of these, Theory of Education is interpreted differently: as Philosophies of Education, as Interpretative Theories, or as an Academically Substantive Subject of Pedagogy, being the latter an Autonomous Scientific Subject. This work concludes by stating that, since the three of them are Knowledge Education, they can make us to understand Theory of Education in three diverse ways, but, actually, it should only be understood as Theory of Education the one that is constructed from the Education Scientific Autonomous Subject, i.e. from Pedagogy as Science. Moreover, Theory of Education should focus in General Pedagogy Intervention and in the intervention's general dimensions.

Mixed Integer Linear Programming for Feature Selection in Support Vector Machine

    Get PDF
This work focuses on support vector machine (SVM) with feature selection. A MILP formulation is proposed for the problem. The choice of suitable features to construct the separating hyperplanes has been modelled in this formulation by including a budget constraint that sets in advance a limit on the number of features to be used in the classification process. We propose both an exact and a heuristic procedure to solve this formulation in an efficient way. Finally, the validation of the model is done by checking it with some well-known data sets and comparing it with classical classification methods.Comment: 37 pages, 20 figure

Is Gastronomy A Relevant Factor for Sustainable Tourism? An Empirical Analysis of Spain Country Brand

    Get PDF
Tourism has become a fundamental industry for the economic growth of many countries. Due to this, there is growing competitiveness among the different destinations to attract as many tourists as possible. As a result, disciplines such as marketing have developed tools to differentiate some destinations from others and concepts such as place branding and country brand have emerged. One of the key factors forming the country brand is gastronomy, as food tourism is one way to reduce the growing problem of sustainability in tourism, as it impacts different aspects of the country’s environment. However, there is a great lack of scientific works that relate both variables. In this paper, we propose to establish that, in the case of Spain, tourists’ perception of Spanish gastronomy is a key element of its country brand. To do that, this study relies on the use of Partial Least Squares Structural Equations Modeling (PLS-SEM) using a 496 cases data set

Nowcasting solar radiation using cloud satellite and high resolution numerical model outputs

    Get PDF
Póster presentado en: EMS Annual Meeting: European Conference for Applied Meteorology and Climatology celebrado del 4–8 de septiembre de 2017 en Dublin, IrelandAEMET (the Spanish Meteorological Agency) is currently developing a project for the Spanish transmission system operator, Red Eléctrica de España, to improve hourly Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) and direct Normal Irradiance (DNI) forecasts in Spanish solar power plants. Nowcasting is a technique for very short-range forecasting (normally within 6h ahead) covering only a very specific geographic region. There is a need of using nowcasting models to forecast the availability of solar radiation in order to low electricity generating costs. We present the current status of a nowcasting tool developed by AEMET that provides every 15 min the hourly solar radiation accumulated fluxes for the coming 4 hours. The meteorological data used for this model are: satellite cloud type observations and forecasts based on high resolution winds (EUMETSAT SAFNWC/MSG software package outputs), radiation from high resolution numerical weather prediction model (HARMONIE/AROME radiation outputs) or a combination of both sources of information depending on different forecast time horizons. The accuracy of the tool has been analyzed comparing the GHI and DNI forecasts with the ground solar radiation measurements from seven stations of AEMET network. The verification results in terms of RMSE are similar to those found in the bibliography, with the advantage that the satellite component of the tool does not require the use of a model to convert satellite imagery to average insolation on the groun

    The stratified p-center problem

This work presents an extension of the p-center problem. In this new model, called Stratified p-Center Problem (SpCP), the demand is concentrated in a set of sites and the population of these sites is divided into different strata depending on the kind of service that they require. The aim is to locate p centers to cover the different types of services demanded minimizing the weighted average of the largest distances associated with each of the different strata. In addition, it is considered that more than one stratum can be present at each site. Different formulations, valid inequalities and preprocessings are developed and compared for this problem. An application of this model is presented in order to implement a heuristic approach based on the Sample Average Approximation method (SAA) for solving the probabilistic p-center problem in an efficient way.Comment: 32 pages, 1 pictur

Validation Report for “Convective Rainfall Rate” (CRR-PGE05 v4.0)

    Get PDF
SAF/NWC/CDOP2/INM/SCI/VR/12, Issue 1, Rev. 0The purpose of this document is to present the Scientific Validation Results for the version 4.0 of the PGE05 (Convective Rainfall Rate product belonging to the SAFNWC/MSG software). The main change of version 4.0 with respect to version 3.1.1 is that calibration matrices have been substituted by analytical functions although the physical base of the algorithm remains the same. Also, a tuning of the calibration analytical functions has been done against radar data. This document describes the validation methodology and the results obtained in order to test the CRR product value. Two different validation processes have been carried out: Convective Rainfall Rate product is thought to be used by forecasters. Results of an objective extended validation using 78 days with convective events occurred along the year 2008 over Spain are presented here
