Body is our access key to places: the medium that allow us to possess, belong, and identify ourselves in places. Body remembers places, mediating the twoway relationship between abstract and physical, social and mental, individual and collective perspectives. Body expresses different cultural images of societies: going through social space and making the collective experience possible. Each body is indeed a “place” in which social and political constructions take shape. The paper considers body as the starting and the ending point of the reflection, presenting a circular path for reconstructing the relationship with places through sounds. The research questions shall be as follows: when body experiences the space of theater, which geographies come to life? how does sound affect this process, developing the sense of attachment to places? why is this important – for both individuals and places
Place-Based Education: An Educational Approach Inside Local Place
Sense of place is rooted in people. Several studies show that attachment to a place is connected with the development of identity through spatial, material, and emotional dimensions. It fosters identification and the development of one’s social and cognitive skills. In an educational sense, cultivating a sense of place means inviting the individual to gather many authentic experiences that strengthen ties. This study discusses the place-based education (PBE) approach at the epistemological level, in the context of the learning-teaching relationship. PBE can help to understand culture, the environment and space by creating a multidisciplinary approach. Moreover, PBE can build a new assumption of being a collective resource. Starting from some studies and evidence that support a positive partnership between the individual and the place, some PBE experiences are analyzed to develop deep learning with children and students

bstract: The international workshop is a start up for a biggest project of research about soundscape. The concept of this first step is connect an international group of research (Swiss, Brazilian, Italians, Spanish and French researchers) in a scientific workshop which will promote participation, disseminate scientific reflections and even include artistic performances (Music and Physical Theatre). During the Travelling Soundscape Workshop in Locarno development an innovative methodology: the “Travelling Focus Group (TFG)” for discovering the area and the sounds which characterize the landscape. In the TFG realized in the workshop one can: a) test and apply the potential of participatory methodology by participating; b) contribute to the achievement of participatory sound mapping, centered on the acoustic dimension;
c) achieve a reading and a “personal territorial listening”, the quality and depth of which will depend on the group involved. This process of appreciation becomes a driving force for promoting accessibility of the area through a participatory sound map of the case study of the territory which can be extended to include the entire Swiss and Brazilian context
The essay aims to the outline the first thoughts flourished within an interdisciplinary research group of musicologists, musicians, historians and education experts, who are inquiring in both theoretical and practical ways to approach resonant landscapes: «The ear has to be sensitive to the marvellous world of sounds surrounding us» has been the first challenge faced by the group, starting from the first definition of “resonant landscape” by R.M. Schäfer (1977). Every landscape has its peculiar and unique sounds. They are determined by the perceptive ways, used by the individuals and the groups of people, as “resonant imprinting” able to connote a type of culture, able to contribute, together with other human expressions, to create the local identity. giving voice to these perceptions means to trigger paths of reflection and of listening education allowing to amplify a sensory channel that tends to be more and more neglected by the western culture
Atlanti.
THE GEOBLOGS: TOOLS FOR AN “AUGMENTED CARTOGRAPHY”
Can digital cartography synthesize feelings, ideas, values, and territorial projects?
This question guides our reflection, which focuses the attention on a specific tool:
the GeoBlog as a support to participatory processes. Starting from the recognition of
the good practices on the national territory, we are going to zoom on a case study
which was promoted in collaboration with the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei. The
experiences show that the link between reality and the virtual world is essential for
the success of the projects and that the performative power of the map contributes
to keep this tension alive. The first issue to deal with concerns the legitimacy of this
tool and the political propensity for seizing the suggestions emerging on the Net,
which is an environment characterized by a strong disparity of access but, at the
same time, proves to be a structure suitable to amplify voices which are often hardly
represented
