The experimental results show that the engine power and torque are lower than the value obtained from Diesel fuel. As for exhaust emission, adding MFO do increase CO emission and particulate matter, but reduce the NOx emission. It is proven that medium fuel oil can be used as an alternative fuel for diesel engine, with some lose of the engine performance and emission characteristics

Cost for Diesel fuel is higher in recent years have cause problem to the consumer. It is necessary to find alternative fuel that is less expensive to be used for generating power. Fuel oil is a type of fuel that has been identified as a possible alternative source of fuel to be used for diesel engine. The engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics based on Diesel fuel and medium fuel oil (MFO) mixture is the main study in this project. Beside 100% Diesel fuel, a blend of 5%MFO, 10% MFO, 15% MFO and 20% MFO are used. The suitable viscosity of fuel mixture is studied as viscosity plays important criteria for the fuel to be used in diesel engine. Engine performance and exhaust emission of all fuel blends were investigated and compared with ordinary Diesel fuel in a single cylinder diesel engine without any modification.

Impact damage analysis for glass reinforced epoxy laminated plates using single stage gas gun

The overall purpose of the research is to investigate the effect of thickness on fiberglass reinforced epoxy laminates. In this study, simplified coupon specimens made from Epoxy/C-glass (200 g/m2) and Epoxy/C-glass (600 g/m2) with different thicknesses were used. To perform the high velocity impact tests (250 m/s), an instrumented single stage gas gun was used. The impacted specimens were examined to determine the extent of damages induced around the impacted point. For the projectiles velocity of 250 m/s, it was found that Epoxy/C-glass 200 g/m2 was able to absorb 21.5 J of energy at the thickness of 12 mm, while Epoxy/C-glass 600 g/m2 was able to absorb 96.1 J of energy at 10 mm thickness. Both the fibreglasses compute damage in terms of slight matrix breakage and cracking. A general trend was observed on the overall ballistic test results, which indicated that, as the plate thickness continue to increase, the damage at the lower skin decreases and could not be seen

Our business name is Hobby Store. The type of business that we will be doing is selling radio control models such airplanes, helicopters, cars and watercrafts and we also offer services related to the business. This type of business has been in the market of Malaysia for a long time ago. We have make a study about the business of radio control at a company named Hobby World Sdn Bhd. This company was establish since 1981. This company was known to be the pioneer company of the official distributor of radio control models in Malaysia. The models are imported from other countries such as Japan, United States of America, Korea and others .There are no manufacturer of this radio control models in Malaysia. All are imported things

Income Disparity and Mental Wellbeing among Adults in Semi-Urban and Rural Areas in Malaysia: The Mediating Role of Social Capital

    Get PDF
Mental illness is rising worldwide and is more prevalent among the older population. Among others, socioeconomic status, particularly income, has a bearing on the prevalence of mental health. However, little is known about the underlying mechanism that explains the association between income and mental health. Hence, this study seeks to examine the mediating effect of social capital on the association between income and mental illness. Cross-sectional data consisting of 6651 respondents aged 55 years and above were used in this study. A validated tool known as the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale, 21 items (DASS-21) was applied to examine mental illness, namely depression, anxiety, and stress. The Karlson, Holm, and Breen (KHB) method was employed to assess the intervening role of social capital on the association between income and mental illness. Results showed that those who disagreed in trust within the community had the highest partial mediation percentage. Those who disagreed in reciprocity, however, had the lowest partial mediation percentage, which explained the positive association between the middle 40% (M40) of the income group and depression, anxiety, and stress. Overall, the study suggests the need to increase trust and attachment within society to curb the occurrence of depression and anxiety.https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph1911660419pubpub1

Hybridization of MMT/Lignocellulosic fiber reinforced polymer nanocomposites for structural applications: a review

    Get PDF
In the recent past, significant research effort has been dedicated to examining the usage of nanomaterials hybridized with lignocellulosic fibers as reinforcement in the fabrication of polymer nanocomposites. The introduction of nanoparticles like montmorillonite (MMT) nanoclay was found to increase the strength, modulus of elasticity and stiffness of composites and provide thermal stability. The resulting composite materials has figured prominently in research and development efforts devoted to nanocomposites and are often used as strengthening agents, especially for structural applications. The distinct properties of MMT, namely its hydrophilicity, as well as high strength, high aspect ratio and high modulus, aids in the dispersion of this inorganic crystalline layer in water-soluble polymers. The ability of MMT nanoclay to intercalate into the interlayer space of monomers and polymers is used, followed by the exfoliation of filler particles into monolayers of nanoscale particles. The present review article intends to provide a general overview of the features of the structure, chemical composition, and properties of MMT nanoclay and lignocellulosic fibers. Some of the techniques used for obtaining polymer nanocomposites based on lignocellulosic fibers and MMT nanoclay are described: (i) conventional, (ii) intercalation, (iii) melt intercalation, and (iv) in situ polymerization methods. This review also comprehensively discusses the mechanical, thermal, and flame retardancy properties of MMT-based polymer nanocomposites. The valuable properties of MMT nanoclay and lignocellulose fibers allow us to expand the possibilities of using polymer nanocomposites in various advanced industrial applications
