    Analysis Of The Florida\u27s Showcase Green Envirohome Water/wastewater Systems And Development Of A Cost-benefit Green Roof Optimization Model

    The Florida Showcase Green Envirohome (FSGE) incorporates many green technologies. FSGE is built to meet or exceed 12 green building guidelines and obtain 8 green building certificates. The two-story 3292 ft2 home is a Near Zero-Loss Home , Near Zero-Energy Home , Near Zero-Runoff Home , and Near Zero-Maintenance Home . It is spawned from the consumer-driven necessity to build a home resistant to hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fire, mold, termites, impacts, and even earthquakes given up to 500% increase in insurance premiums in natural disaster zones, the dwindling flexibility and coverage of insurance policies, and rising energy, water and maintenance costs (FSGE 2008). The FSGE captures its stormwater runoff from the green roof, metal roof and wood decking area and routes it to the sustainable water cistern. Graywater from the home (after being disinfected using ozone) is also routed to the sustainable water cistern. This water stored in the sustainable water cistern is used for irrigation of the green roof, ground level landscape, and for toilet flushing water. This study was done in two phases. During phase one, only stormwater runoff from the green roof, metal roof and wood decking area is routed to the sustainable water cistern. Then, during phase two, the water from the graywater system is added to the sustainable water cistern. The sustainable water cistern quality is analyzed during both phases to determine if the water is acceptable for irrigation and also if it is suitable for use as toilet flushing water. The water quality of the sustainable cistern is acceptable for irrigation. The intent of the home is to not pollute the environment, so as much nutrients as possible should be removed from the wastewater before it is discharged into the groundwater. Thus, the FSGE design is to evaluate a new on-site sewage treatment and disposal (OSTD) system which consists of a sorption media labeled as Bold and GoldTM filtration media. The Bold and GoldTM filtration media is a mixture of tire crumb and other materials. This new OSTD system has sampling ports through the system to monitor the wastewater quality as it passes through. Also, the effluent wastewater quality is compared to that of a conventional system on the campus of the University of Central Florida. The cost-benefit optimization model focused on designing a residential home which incorporated a green roof, cistern and graywater systems. This model had two forms, the base model and the grey linear model. The base model used current average cost of construction of materials and installation. The grey model used an interval for the cost of construction materials and green roof energy savings. Both models included a probabilistic term to describe the rainfall amount. The cost and energy operation of a typical Florida home was used as a case study for these models. Also, some of the parameters of the model were varied to determine their effect on the results. The modeling showed that the FSGE 4500 gallon cistern design was cost effective in providing irrigation water. Also, the green roof area could have been smaller to be cost effective, because the green roof cost is relatively much higher than the cost of a regular roof

    Determinants of Entrepreneurial Venture Growth in the Philippines Using the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor

    Entrepreneurial venture growth requires the capacity to produce products that are acceptable to the market, and the level of support given to enterprises helps them produce, innovate, and gain market access. However, entrepreneurs are faced with challenges related to physical and social infrastructure, local and global business environment, a level playing field, access to financing, and access to skill development and knowledge. If these remain unmitigated, they have the potential to hamper entrepreneurial growth. Hence, we inquire on the critical drivers of venture growth that will allow entrepreneurs to stimulate their enterprises using founder characteristics, firm attributes, and entrepreneurial strategies. Using the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) data for the Philippines, we found empirical evidence that entrepreneurial strategies are being moderated by founder characteristics and form attributes in driving entrepreneurial venture growth. We recommended interventions that will enable enterprises to increase their international orientation and export participation through enhanced access to global value chains

    Lexical Derivation of the PINT Taxonomy of Goals: Prominence, Inclusiveness, Negativity Prevention, and Tradition

    What do people want? Few questions are more fundamental to psychological science than this. Yet, existing taxonomies disagree on both the number and content of goals. We thus adopted a lexical approach and investigated the structure of goal-relevant words from the natural English lexicon. Through an intensive rating process, 1,060 goal-relevant English words were first located. In Studies 1-2, two relatively large and diverse samples (total n = 1,026) rated their commitment to approaching or avoiding these goals. Principal component analyses yielded 4 replicable components: Prominence, Inclusiveness, Negativity prevention, and Tradition (the PINT Taxonomy). Study 3-7 (total n = 1,396) supported the 4-factor structure of an abbreviated scale and found systematic differences in their relationships with past goal-content measures, the Big 5 traits, affect, and need satisfaction. This investigation thus provides a data-driven taxonomy of higher-order goal-content and opens up a wide variety of fascinating lines for future research

Departamento Académico de Estadística e InformáticaDebido a la gran diversidad de negocios de la empresa, un importante grupo de medios de comunicación, es que se genera mucha información, cada vez más específica y detallada; y es aquí en donde entra la gerencia de Inteligencia de Negocios, la cual centraliza todos estos datos provenientes de distintas fuentes y plataformas con la finalidad de analizarlos y brindar soporte a las diferentes áreas que requieran de algún análisis a detalle para sustentar una venta, una adquisición, el desarrollo de proyectos, etc. Una de estos requerimientos especializados tiene que ver con la integración de datos de distintos orígenes tanto digitales como los que se generan en los sitios web, las redes sociales; o las tradicionales como los ingresos que genera la publicidad para la compañía, base de datos de audiencia, entre otros, ya que permitirán abordar análisis más complejos para encontrar hallazgos más específicos, diferenciales y relevantes. La presente monografía aborda el desarrollo de una nueva metodología de segmentación de usuarios registrados en la página web, en la cual se ha planteado considerar el tipo de contenido que ellos visitan según la sección en la que están alojadas las notas y complementándolos con la información personal, sociodemográfica, de ubicación y otras disponibles en el negocio, todo esto apoyado en el análisis clúster, específicamente el algoritmo k-means. Para el preprocesamiento de datos, limpieza, construcción del conjunto de datos y ejecución de la metodología se utilizó el software R, que posee múltiples funciones que ayudaron con estas tareas. Estas seis agrupaciones encontradas permitirán ofrecer a los clientes un nuevo producto comercial, que además otorgará una ventaja para los clientes ya que podrán especificar la audiencia específica a la que quieren impactar mejorando significativamente los resultados que se obtendrían a diferencia del método tradicional de publicidad digital.Due to the wide diversity of the company's business, an important group of media, a lot of information is generated, more specific and detailed each time; and this is where the Business Intelligence management comes in, which centralizes all these data from different sources and platforms in order to analyze them and provide support to the different areas that require a detailed analysis to support a sale, an acquisition, project development, etc. One of these specialized requirements has to do with the integration of data from different digital sources such as those generated on websites, social networks; or traditional ones such as advertising revenue generated for the company, audience database, among others, as they will allow to address more complex analysis to find more specific, differential and relevant findings. This monograph is about the development of a new methodology for segmentation of registered users on the website, in which it has been proposed to consider the type of content they visit according to the section in which the notes are hosted and complementing them with personal, sociodemographic, location and other information available in the business, all this supported by the cluster analysis, specifically the k-means algorithm. For data preprocessing, cleaning, construction of the data set and execution of the methodology, R software was used, which has multiple functions that helped with these tasks. These six clusterings found will allow offering clients a new sales product, which will also provide an advantage for consumers since they will be able to specify the specific audience they want to impact, significantly improving the results that would be obtained, unlike the traditional method of digital advertising

    A performance comparison of two small rocket nozzles

    An experimental study was conducted on two small rockets (110 N thrust class) to directly compare a standard conical nozzle with a bell nozzle optimized for maximum thrust using the Rao method. In large rockets, with throat Reynolds numbers of greater than 1 x 10(exp 5), bell nozzles outperform conical nozzles. In rockets with throat Reynolds numbers below 1 x 10(exp 5), however, test results have been ambiguous. An experimental program was conducted to test two small nozzles at two different fuel film cooling percentages and three different chamber pressures. Test results showed that for the throat Reynolds number range from 2 x 10(exp 4) to 4 x 10(exp 4), the bell nozzle outperformed the conical nozzle. Thrust coefficients for the bell nozzle were approximately 4 to 12 percent higher than those obtained with the conical nozzle. As expected, testing showed that lowering the fuel film cooling increased performance for both nozzle types

    Implementación del SG-SST basado en la ley N°29783 para reducir la accidentabilidad en una empresa textil ATE-2020

    Este presente trabajo de investigación se tuvo como propósito principal demostrar uso de la aplicación del Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo, disminuye el índice de accidentabilidad en una empresa textil, ATE-2020. Al momento de aplicar el Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo se obtuvieron mejoras en todas las dimensiones de aplicación las cuales fueron Evaluación de riesgos, Auditoría interna y Cultura de Prevención. La población del proyecto estuvo conformada por 3 meses antes, que se recolectó de las boletas de las salidas anticipadas por accidentes posteriormente serán recolectadas con el registro de accidentes que se viene estableciendo. La muestra es no probabilística por conveniencia, por el tiempo de desarrollo de la investigación es por eso que será igual a la población. De la misma manera, el tipo de tesis es aplicada, porque tiene un enfoque cuantitativo y de diseño cuasi-experimental. Los datos obtenidos aplicar esto nos dio como resultado que la aplicación del SG-SST reduce el índice de accidentabilidad se vio claramente una disminución de 4.37 a 0.76, por otro lado, para las hipótesis específicas también se utilizó Wilcoxon donde encontramos datos de discusión en el índice de frecuencia de 48.20 a 12.04 como en el de severidad de 84.46 a 42.1
