THE LOVE THAT FRIGHTENS. CLINICAL-PEDAGOGICAL REFLECTIONS

    Get PDF
The experience of love is common to all human beings, of all ages, social classes and geographical origins (Bettetini, 2012; Passerini, 2008). Contemporary society has typically dragged love out of the intimate sphere, partly as a result of technological advances in the mass communication media, especially Internet. The media constantly dwell on the themes of love and sex, honing in on people’s love lives and making gossip about them a global affair, exposing the most intimate details of the love affairs of the famous and not so famous, and shamelessly flaunting nudity

The topic of the transversal competences and soft skills needed for professions, required both by Europe and by the productive world, has exploded. In 2016, the European Commission issued a new Skills Agenda for Europe, which stresses the centrality of competences, especially digital and entrepreneurship competences, conceived as presuppositions for employment and innovation in the digital economy and society. Nowadays, in Italy a specific law dedicated to the competences of educators and pedagogists has been proposed. The great risk that can be glimpsed in the European model, on a critical and clinical perspective, is in the presumption of engineering existential flows and processes that, with this rationalizing operation, they can really be controlled and governed. The specificity of transversal competences and soft skills of the education professions, which manage with pedagogical intentionality and educational design all the areas of the course of human existence, from birth to old age, in multiple contexts, has to be stressed. Therefore, the formative pathways for the education of these professions require even more urgently a transformation of the pedagogical device, of the learning setting, of the educational models and didactic practices proposed to the students by the teachers and university organizations.

LOVE IN TRANSITION TIMES . THE EDUCATORS OF ADOLESCENTS AMONG CARE , LOVE AND POWER

By this paper, I want to develop the analysis and the reflection on the problems the educators meet, working with difficult adolescents into the socio-educational services, managing the emotional and love relationships of the young. Authoritarian or punitive interventions, when applied to matters that are highly delicate and complex, are bound to generate consequences that are not always positive or under the control of the educators. If educators are not open to exploring the affective dimensions, they may inadvertently reiterate the abuse that their clients have already undergone. It is necessary to give the right space to the expression of the emotional needs and difficulties of adults, educators, youngsters

Supervision as a Kind of Qualitative Evaluation

    Get PDF
The contribution presents a reflection on supervision as one of the possible forms of qualitative evaluation, in the field of work with adult educators. Supervision structures a context where theory and practice, emotions and cognitions, values, representations and fears, anxieties and conflicts can be made to dialogue in continuation. The supervisor continuously offers feedback and interpretations to the educators, thanks to attentive listening and decodes what they express. The constructivist approach to Evaluation, on the one hand, gives full value to the subjectivity of the actors involved in the evaluation process and aims to interpret and understand. So, we can call it hermeneutic evaluation (Perla, 2004). Hermeneutic evaluation sets the problem of finding the meaning of the points of view of the participants. This is where the meeting point with the supervision activity, which consists precisely of a practice guided by a leader who helps the educators to better understand their theoretical frameworks of reference and their basic educational models, lies. Supervision and Evaluation therefore represent two important tools for developing the professionalism of the operators, as shown by the case-study analyzed. The practice of supervision is part of a path of  lifelong learning and education (Oggionni, 2013; Zannini, 2005), which passes through experimentation, evaluation and redesigning, in the face of constant monitoring of the needs and learning of the individual and of the team.

Are we in times of social change? Are the non-profit entities drivers of that change? This research analyzes some of the factors that can give us some clues about the current situation of associations and the role they are playing in our society. The work focuses on two case studies whose information is gathered with techniques such as interviewing, observation and documentary analysis. Among the conclusions, the social, political and educational impact of the entities in our society is analyzed exhaustively. The article deepens on the basis of the three levels of incidence of the associations; welfare, promotional and structural. From here, a socio-educational level is formed that affects the formation of volunteers, formal education, content, methodology and the relationship they establish with educational centers. Finally, we reflect on the challenges that arise from the analysis of the current situation

Under the care of a team of health professionals in an out-of-hospital cardiorespiratory arrest (PCREH), they can be found in conditions in extreme conditions of ambient temperature, depending on the area where they are located, the time of the year, and even the time of day. Objective: The objective of this study was to verify whether the efficacy of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was affected by extreme heat (40ºC) and cold (0ºC) temperature environments, compared to a CPR in ambient temperature (22ºC).Method: 2 minutes of uninterrupted external chest compressions (ECC) were performed under ambient temperature conditions of 40ºC, 0ºC and 22ºC, in a realistic mannequin Resusci Anne QCPR with SIMPAD.Results: 30 participants, both people with prior training in CPR (86.7%) and without it (13.3%), were part of the sample, 26 women (86.7%) and 4 men (13.3%), with a mean age of 27.37 ± 8.88 years. No statistically significant differences were found in the efficacy of CPR; but there were differences between the total number of CT (p = 0.042), the average depth of the ECC (p = 0.015) and the average frequency (p = 0.034). The Borg scale of perceived exertion (RPE) showed an average of 4.4 ± 1.303 at 22° C, 4.97 ± 1.402 at 40° C and 4.87 ± 2.08 at 0° C (p> 0.05). There were no significant differences in hair lactate. Conclusions: It is concluded that there are no significant differences between the three conditions, although it seems that the cold and room temperatures resemble results and that the heat temperature offers a slight disadvantage of the others.

Effect of antibiotics against Mycoplasma sp. on human embryonic stem cells undifferentiated status, pluripotency, cell viability and growth

    Get PDF
Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are self-renewing pluripotent cells that can differentiate into specialized cells and hold great promise as models for human development and disease studies, cell-replacement therapies, drug discovery and in vitro cytotoxicity tests. The culture and differentiation of these cells are both complex and expensive, so it is essential to extreme aseptic conditions. hESCs are susceptible to Mycoplasma sp. infection, which is hard to detect and alters stem cell-associated properties. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the efficacy and cytotoxic effect of PlasmocinTM and ciprofloxacin (specific antibiotics used for Mycoplasma sp. eradication) on hESCs. Mycoplasma sp. infected HUES-5 884 (H5 884, stable hESCs H5-brachyury promoter-GFP line) cells were effectively cured with a 14 days PlasmocinTM 25 µg/ml treatment (curative treatment) while maintaining stemness characteristic features. Furthermore, cured H5 884 cells exhibit the same karyotype as the parental H5 line and expressed GFP, through up-regulation of brachyury promoter, at day 4 of differentiation onset. Moreover, H5 cells treated with ciprofloxacin 10 µg/ml for 14 days (mimic of curative treatment) and H5 and WA09 (H9) hESCs treated with PlasmocinTM 5 µg/ml (prophylactic treatment) for 5 passages retained hESCs features, as judged by the expression of stemness-related genes (TRA1-60, TRA1-81, SSEA-4, Oct-4, Nanog) at mRNA and protein levels. In addition, the presence of specific markers of the three germ layers (brachyury, Nkx2.5 and cTnT: mesoderm; AFP: endoderm; nestin and Pax-6: ectoderm) was verified in in vitro differentiated antibiotic-treated hESCs. In conclusion, we found that PlasmocinTM and ciprofloxacin do not affect hESCs stemness and pluripotency nor cell viability. However, curative treatments slightly diminished cell growth rate. This cytotoxic effect was reversible as cells regained normal growth rate upon antibiotic withdrawal.Fil: Romorini, Leonardo. Gravitational bremsstrahlung from spinning binaries in the post-Minkowskian expansion

We present a novel calculation of the four-momentum that is radiated into gravitational waves during the scattering of two arbitrarily spinning bodies. Our result, which is accurate to leading order in GG, to quadratic order in the spins, and to all orders in the velocity, is derived by using a Routhian-based worldline effective field theory formalism in concert with a battery of analytic techniques for evaluating loop integrals. While nonspinning binaries radiate momentum only along the direction of their relative velocity, we show that the inclusion of spins generically allows for momentum loss in all three spatial directions. We also verify that our expression for the radiated energy agrees with the overlapping terms from state-of-the-art calculations in post-Newtonian theory.Comment: Version accepted for publication. 5 pages, 2 figures, 1 table + supplemental material.
