This bachelor’s thesis covers the topic of evaluation of the geographical location of stations on the Internet with the help of measurements of the delay and implementation of the CBG method, which embodies both theoretical and practical parts of the bachelor’s thesis. The first part of this thesis is dedicated to passive geolocation methods, types of delays in data network, and their subsequent measurement. The second part pursues active geolocation methods, specifically the CBG method. Aim was to program a localization algorithm in the programming language PHP, subsequently evaluate accuracy of the method and compare with available methods IP geolocation.

Integrating Artificial Intelligence for Automated Storytelling in Turn-based Strategy Games

    Get PDF
This project is inspired by turn-based strategy games, Final Fantasy Tactics, X-Com 2, and modern turn-based strategy games. This project is structured around the use of artificial intelligence for storytelling within strategy games. The focus of this project utilizes artificial intelligence in creating a quest generation system for storytelling. The resulting quest system creates new quests dynamically after communicating with an artificial intelligence allowing players to potentially experience an ever-expanding story from quest

A crush for tuberculin testing of cattle

    Get PDF
Always a useful asset on any farm where livestock are kept, a strongly-constructed crush is essential where tuberculin testing makes it necessary to deal with dry stock, bulls and young animals that have not been previously handled. The crush described in this article was specially designed for tuberculin testing, but will serve equally well for vaccinating, branding, de-horning—in fact for any operation where restraint is necessary

Empowering Patients With A Hotline To The Chief Nursing Officer

The purpose of this nursing research study was to explore the perceptions of patients who were provided with a direct line of communication via a “hotline” to the Chief Nursing Officer in order to provide them with a voice in decisions which directly involve their care.Qualitative analysis revealed recurring themes identifying the “hotline” as reassuring, and offering a level of security. Another theme involved the patients relating situations that needed to be remedied including noise within the hospital environment, waiting for pain medication or using the call light without receiving assistance in a timely manner. Some calls to the hotline centered on compliments for the nursing staff. The findings from this phenomenological study which viewed the hospital world through the lens of patients' eyes have many implications for nursing practice. Implications for nursing practice include enhanced communication among nurses and patients, increased patient satisfaction with their health care experience and improved staff satisfaction in the acute care environment. A hotline to the chief nursing officer is only one way to ensure that the patients’ voices are heard and acted upon but this direct line of communication was found to be an effective tool.

Swap Test-based Characterization of Quantum Processes in Universal Quantum Computers

Quantum Computing has been presenting major developments in the last few years, unveiling systems with a increasing number of qubits. However, unreliable quantum processes in universal quantum computers still represent one of the the greatest challenges to be overcome. Such obstacle has its source on noisy operations and interactions with the environment which introduce decoherence to a quantum system. In this article we verify whether a tool called Swap Test is able to identify decoherence. Our experimental results demonstrate that the Swap Test can be employed as an alternative to a full Quantum Process Tomography, with the advantage of not destroying the qubit under test, under certain circumstances, as long as some modifications are introduced

Effect Of Saturable Absorption On The Behavior Of Spontaneous Emission In Semiconductor Lasers

    Get PDF
A substantial reduction of the spontaneous emission intensity is observed at the onset of stimulated emission in some injection lasers. It is shown that this effect is caused by the saturation of optically absorbing traps present in the active region. It is suggested that saturable optical absorption is also responsible for previously unexplained similar reduction observed by Nicoll in bulk semiconductor lasers. © 1973 American Institute of Physics.232949
