Weighted power variation of integrals with respect to a Gaussian process

We consider a stochastic process $Y$ defined by an integral in quadratic mean of a deterministic function $f$ with respect to a Gaussian process $X$, which need not have stationary increments. For a class of Gaussian processes $X$, it is proved that sums of properly weighted powers of increments of $Y$ over a sequence of partitions of a time interval converge almost surely. The conditions of this result are expressed in terms of the $p$-variation of the covariance function of $X$. Acoustic guide for noise-transmission testing of aircraft

Selective testing of aircraft or other vehicular components without requiring disassembly of the vehicle or components was accomplished by using a portable guide apparatus. The device consists of a broadband noise source, a guide to direct the acoustic energy, soft sealing insulation to seal the guide to the noise source and to the vehicle component, and noise measurement microphones, both outside the vehicle at the acoustic guide output and inside the vehicle to receive attenuated sound. By directing acoustic energy only to selected components of a vehicle via the acoustic guide, it is possible to test a specific component, such as a door or window, without picking up extraneous noise which may be transmitted to the vehicle interior through other components or structure. This effect is achieved because no acoustic energy strikes the vehicle exterior except at the selected component. Also, since the test component remains attached to the vehicle, component dynamics with vehicle frame are not altered

Matematikos mokymo ir švietimo politikos aspektai Lietuvoje

High-quality mathematics instruction for all means high expectations and strong support for all students. An insightful math teaching policy when apdating both school math curriculum and assessment system as well as  mathematics teacher training and in-service training program are required to implement this provision. This policy should be based on international mathematics education reserach. How realistic is it to implement in  Lithuania? From that point on, we will take mathematics teaching seriously depends on society's readiness for existing and future challenges. Kokybiškas matematikos mokymas visiems reiškia aukštus pasiekimų lūkesčius ir atitinkamą pagalbą kiekvienam mokiniui. Šiai nuostatai įgyvendinti reikalinga įžvalgi matematikos mokymo politika atnaujinant tiek mokyklinės matematikos programą, tiek pasiekimų vertinimo sistemą, tiek ir matematikos mokytojų rengimo bei kvalifikacijos kėlimo programą. Šios politikos pagrindu turėtų būti tarptautinio lygio matematikos mokymo  tyrimai. Kiek realu tai įgyvendinti Lietuvoje? Nuo to, kaip rimtai vertinsime matematikos mokymą, priklauso visuomenės pasirengimas esamiems ir būsimiems iššūkiams

Netikėta laureatė: Louise Glück Lietuvoje

The aim of this paper is to give an overview of the work of the American poet, Louise Glück, winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature, with a discussion of what kinds of challenges her poetry might pose for translators. Very few people knew of her work in Lithuania prior to the Nobel Committee’s announcement. Her poems were only published in Lithuanian translation for the first time in July, 2020, and only a handful at that. This paper argues that her work has important similarities and differences to Lithuanian poetry of the twentieth century, and that despite her free-verse lyrics written in rather plain diction, there are still many challenges to rendering her work in another language. The Lithuanian translations reveal stumbling points over ambivalent word choices, surreal imagery caused by ambiguous syntax, and the need for careful attention to the tone of the narrative voice (the lyrical subject) of the poems.Straipsnio tikslas – pateikti Amerikos poetės Louise Glück, 2020 metų Nobelio literatūros premijos laureatės, kūrybos apžvalgą, aptariant jos keliamus iššūkius vertėjams. Lietuvoje nedaug kas buvo susipažinęs su šios poetės kūryba iki šių metų Nobelio premijų komiteto sprendimo, nes jos eilėraščių vertimai į lietuvių kalbą pirmą kartą išleisti tik 2020 m. liepą. Ir tik pluoštelis. Straipsnyje aptariami svarbūs poetės kūrybos panašumai ir skirtumai su XX a. lietuvių poezija ir pažymima, kad, nepaisant L. Glück verlibro ir gana paprasto ir aiškaus žodžių pasirinkimo, vertėjas, bandantis perteikti jos eiles kita kalba, susiduria su įvairiais sunkumais. Vertimų į lietuvių kalbą analizė atskleidė, kad neretai užkliūnama verčiant dviprasmius žodžius, kartais dviprasmiškumų sukelia eilėraščių sintaksė ir siurrealistiniai įvaizdžiai. Abstract— The developing of integrated character and environment education materials learning resources is the researches with the purpose are: (1) producing the eligibility learning resources to implement, (2) describing the result of mastery concept, (3) describing the valuation of character, and (4) describing the students response. This developing refers to 4D Model. The results of this research are: (1) the eligibility of learning resources to implement, (2) the mastery concept has been completed in 88,08 %, (3) the valuation of careness about environmental in score 3,47, communicative and creative character in score 3,59, and (4) the students response in score 3,39. Within Pond Variations of Gas Fluxes and the Spatio-temporal Variations of Benthic Algae and Limnological Characteristics in Shallow Ponds Located in the Hudson Bay Lowlands (HBL), near Churchill, Manitoba

The enhanced warming in the Subarctic is thawing the permafrost in the Hudson Bay Lowlands (HBL), making the peatlands carbon sources to the atmosphere. In the HBL, studies have observed that the shallow aquatic systems are sequesters of carbon. In this study, we observed that temperature is a significant variable in determining respiration rates from extracted pond sediment cores that were manipulated in incubation experiments. In the ponds that were studied, Strange Pond had an average sequestration or net ecosystem exchange (NEE) of -0.71 mol/m2/s and the average oxygen production was 1.03 mol/m2/s. The ponds were benthically driven cyanobacteria and was responsible for the processing of autochthonous carbon in the system. It was found that as the area of the pond becomes smaller, the spatial location of pond water and benthos sampling is of minor importance in characterizing the pond as a whole
