Estado Confusional Agudo após Corticoterapia Inalada
Background: The connection between corticotherapy and neuropsychiatric symptoms is
widely known, being one of the first questions
we need to assess when presenting with first
episode psychiatric symptoms or confusional
state.
Aims: To date, data on cases related to inhaled
corticotherapy and neuropsychiatric effects is
scarce. In this paper we describe a rare case in
a young woman.
Methods: The clinical case presented led us
to try to understand the data published on the
subject in order to discuss it in greater length.
Results and Conclusions: We present and
discuss a 27-year-old patient’s case, with no
previous psychiatric disease, who was admitted to our Psychiatric ward after the onset of
severe acute behavioural disturbance characterized by aggressiveness, visual and auditory
hallucinatory activity, misidentification and
altered conscience status. It was later found
that seven days earlier she had been prescribed
inhaled corticotherapy for a minor respiratory
infection. A few days after corticotherapy withdrawal, the clinical symptoms improved significantly.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
General scalar products in the arbitrary six-vertex model
In this work we use the algebraic Bethe ansatz to derive the general scalar
product in the six-vertex model for generic Boltzmann weights. We performed
this calculation using only the unitarity property, the Yang-Baxter algebra and
the Yang-Baxter equation. We have derived a recurrence relation for the scalar
product. The solution of this relation was written in terms of the domain wall
partition functions. By its turn, these partition functions were also obtained
for generic Boltzmann weights, which provided us with an explicit expression
for the general scalar product.Comment: 24 page
Corporate social responsibility and circular economy from the perspective of consumers: A cross-cultural analysis in the cosmetic industry
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and circular economy (CE) have assumed considerable importance in the efforts for sustainable development. However, some consumers do not positively respond to CSR and CE activities, and few studies have analyzed the consumers' perspective about the topics. This study investigates consumer knowledge and perception about CSR and CE and their willingness to pay (WTP) for products from companies that follow these concepts, examining differences according to demographic characteristics. We carried out a survey with 302 Brazilian and Italian consumers of cosmetic products. Our results show that most consumers have a low understanding of CSR and CE and a low perception of the socio-environmental initiatives of companies that follow CSR and CE concepts. Nevertheless, most consumers show WTP for products from companies that follow these concepts. We identified demographic variables that allowed us to relate the profile of consumers with their knowledge about CSR and CE and their WTP. We provide insights for companies and policymakers in advancing toward CSR and CE

Magnetic properties of GdZn (T = Fe, Co) investigated by X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy
We investigate the magnetic and electronic properties of the GdZn
( = Fe and Co) compounds using X-ray resonant magnetic scattering (XRMS),
X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) and X-ray magnetic circular
dichroism (XMCD) techniques. The XRMS measurements reveal that the
GdCoZn compound has a commensurate antiferromagnetic spin structure
with a magnetic propagation vector =
below the N\'eel temperature ( 5.7 K). Only the Gd ions carry a magnetic moment forming an
antiferromagnetic structure with magnetic representation . For the
ferromagnetic GdFeZn compound, an extensive investigation was
performed at low temperature and under magnetic field using XANES and XMCD
techniques. A strong XMCD signal of about 12.5 and 9.7 is observed
below the Curie temperature ( 85 K) at the Gd- and edges,
respectively. In addition, a small magnetic signal of about 0.06 of the
jump is recorded at the Zn -edge suggesting that the Zn 4 states are spin
polarized by the Gd 5 extended orbitals
The Distance to Nova V959 Mon from VLA Imaging
Determining reliable distances to classical novae is a challenging but
crucial step in deriving their ejected masses and explosion energetics. Here we
combine radio expansion measurements from the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array
with velocities derived from optical spectra to estimate an expansion parallax
for nova V959 Mon, the first nova discovered through its gamma-ray emission. We
spatially resolve the nova at frequencies of 4.5-36.5 GHz in nine different
imaging epochs. The first five epochs cover the expansion of the ejecta from
2012 October to 2013 January, while the final four epochs span 2014 February to
2014 May. These observations correspond to days 126 through 199 and days 615
through 703 after the first detection of the nova. The images clearly show a
non-spherical ejecta geometry. Utilizing ejecta velocities derived from 3D
modelling of optical spectroscopy, the radio expansion implies a distance
between 0.9 +/- 0.2 and 2.2 +/- 0.4 kpc, with a most probable distance of 1.4
+/- 0.4 kpc. This distance implies a gamma-ray luminosity much less than the
prototype gamma-ray-detected nova, V407 Cyg, possibly due to the lack of a red
giant companion in the V959 Mon system. V959 Mon also has a much lower
gamma-ray luminosity than other classical novae detected in gamma-rays to date,
indicating a range of at least a factor of 10 in the gamma-ray luminosities for
these explosions.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables, submitted to ApJ 2015-01-21, under

Coherent Adiabatic Spin Control in the Presence of Charge Noise Using Tailored Pulses
We study finite-time Landau-Zener transitions at a singlet-triplet level
crossing in a GaAs double quantum dot, both experimentally and theoretically.
Sweeps across the anticrossing in the high driving speed limit result in
oscillations with a small visibility. Here we demonstrate how to increase the
oscillation visibility while keeping sweep times shorter than T2* using a
tailored pulse with a detuning dependent level velocity. Our results show an
improvement of a factor ~2.9 for the oscillation visibility. In particular, we
were able to obtain a visibility of ~0.5 for St\"uckelberg oscillations, which
demonstrates the creation of an equally weighted superposition of the qubit
states.Comment: Related papers at http://pettagroup.princeton.ed
