German Cultural Diplomacy in Indonesia: Building Cooperation in a Changing World

    Get PDF
This study examines how Germany is engaged in Indonesia through its cultural diplomacy-oriented institutions in the fields of education, science, culture and media. It aims to provide an overview for German decision makers and may also assist Indonesian actors to better understand and appreciate Germany’s principled approach to cultural diplomacy and its intentions in building an ever-stronger partnership with Indonesia. Finally, the study contains a special section focusing on bilateral cooperation in the promotion of interfaith dialogue and radicalisation prevention

Methodology for the creation of synthetic data for quality management and predictive maintenance in the field of hydroforming (IHU)

Companies are increasingly challenged by the impending loss of knowledge due to demographic change and employee loss. In times of advancing digitalization, it is important to make large datasets accessible and usable, aiming at increasing resource efficiency within the company on the one hand and being able to offer customers additional services on the other. Given the background of implementing efficient quality management and predictive maintenance with the same system, technological key figures and process control must first be determined. In the field of intelligent maintenance, however, it is not always possible to record error states of physical systems in series operation as a data set. Deliberately allowing faults to occur under real production conditions could lead to fatal failures or even the destruction of the system. The targeted generation of faults under highly controlled conditions can also be timeconsuming, cost-intensive, or even impractical

Prosody generation with a neural network

The use of neural networks in speech synthesis has been especially successful in the domain of prosody generation. The approach presented here differs from others in a) the transformation from a simple input to an output vector consisting of different parameters and b) the use of subcorpora that allow specialized networks. The network operates in a prominence-based synthesis system, where prominence is the most important parameter and is, consequently, the input parameter for the network. The output is not yet evaluated formally but the synthetic speech sounds natural and lively

Towards a Rigorous Methodology for Measuring Adoption of RPKI Route Validation and Filtering

A proposal to improve routing security---Route Origin Authorization (ROA)---has been standardized. A ROA specifies which network is allowed to announce a set of Internet destinations. While some networks now specify ROAs, little is known about whether other networks check routes they receive against these ROAs, a process known as Route Origin Validation (ROV). Which networks blindly accept invalid routes? Which reject them outright? Which de-preference them if alternatives exist? Recent analysis attempts to use uncontrolled experiments to characterize ROV adoption by comparing valid routes and invalid routes. However, we argue that gaining a solid understanding of ROV adoption is impossible using currently available data sets and techniques. Our measurements suggest that, although some ISPs are not observed using invalid routes in uncontrolled experiments, they are actually using different routes for (non-security) traffic engineering purposes, without performing ROV. We conclude with a description of a controlled, verifiable methodology for measuring ROV and present three ASes that do implement ROV, confirmed by operators

Increasing the Traceability Through Targeted Data Acquisition for Given Product Process Combinations

AbstractToday's manufacturing companies are faced with the challenge to achieve a high adherence to delivery dates under volatile market demands and to achieve a high efficiency of the order to delivery process. This challenging situation can only be handled with the help of an optimal alignment of the production, the production planning as well as the production controlling processes. Sufficient and high quality information from the production are the major basis for successfully mastering the tasks of production planning and control. With the help of the approach proposed in this paper, companies can start setting up a targeted data acquisition concept for their product process combination. It helps them, amongst other things, preventing production problems and responding rapidly to fluctuating customer needs
