Z Generation Youth and Interest in Science

    Get PDF
Each year there is increasing the behavior of dependence on individuals in relation to the use of technologies, especially among the young people of Z Generation, born after the year 2000 and currently attending high school. Despite this, the relationship of science with these technologies seems not to be observed, since in several countries there is a decrease in the interest of young people for science. In view of this, aiming to investigate the interest of the young people of Z Generation by school science, this article wants to give the students of Canoas/RS a voice about this theme. The methodology adopted involved the application of a questionnaire called "Barometer: young people and science", belonging to the Project Sapiens that investigates nationwide the opinions, attitudes and interests of young people in relation to science and technology. The data presented here were collected in 19 schools, with the participation of 1.331 young people. The results show that they have more interest in other areas of science, such as health sciences, for example, than in relation to technological science. Being this low interest more evidenced in the girls than in the boys. This fact leads to the conclusion that young Z are effective in making use of technologies, however, do not reveal an interest in understanding it. In view of this, it is up to reflection on the need for educational actions that can make science teaching, especially that which involves the most interesting technologies, since the perception of students about science is certainly Influence on your academic and professional choices

Abstract: Food options with functional ingredients are a niche of great market potential. Considering this demand, the plants compounds and functional oils can be used as zootechnical additives. Functional oils are defined as oils that have an action in addition to their nutritional value. Due to the presence of bioactive compounds, functional oils have different therapeutic actions, acting as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and gut microbiota regulators. Brazil presents a rich biodiversity with great potential to obtain these alternative compounds. Considering this, we aimed to evaluate the effects of functional oils from copaiba (Copaifera spp.), cashew nut shell (Anacardium occidentale), and pepper species (Schinus molle L. and Capsicum annum L.) on coefficients of total tract apparent digestibility (CTTAD) of nutrients, intestinal fermentative metabolites, fecal microbiota, and inflammatory and oxidative markers in dogs submitted to periodontal surgery. Two treatments were evaluated: control and test, containing the blend of functional oils (0.1 g/animal/day). The treatments were offered for 35 days to 12 adult Beagle dogs, distributed in a completely randomized design (n=6). On day 30, the dogs were submitted to periodontal surgery. Fecal (days 30 and 35) and blood (days 0, 30, and 35) samples were collected for the evaluation of intestinal fermentative metabolites, fecal microbiota, and inflammatory and antioxidant responses in the blood. Dogs of the control group presented a more pronounced reduction in the genera Prevotella and Faecalibacterium after surgery (day 35) than the test group (P<0.05). Besides, dogs of the control group also presented a greater abundance of Streptococcus on day 35 (P<0.05). There was an increase in NF-kB concentration in the blood after surgery only in the control group (P<0.05). Additionally, dogs fed the oil blend showed lower lipid peroxidation (P<0.05) and a tendency (P=0.059) to higher glutathione transferase activity. The blend of functional oils does not alter the digestibility of nutrients and may modulate the intestinal microbiota. Furthermore, it controls the inflammatory and oxidative mechanisms after the surgical challenge in dogs

The objective of this research was to compare the physical and chemical characteristics and antioxidant activity of organic and conventional carrot (Daucus carota), green pepper (Capsicum annuum) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa). Five representative samples of conventional vegetables, certified organic and non-certified organic vegetables were gotten from farms and supermarkets in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The result shows that the organic carrot showed higher acidity (0.11 g % citric acid) and total sugar (5.68 g %) than those found in standard samples and certified organic ones (p<0.05). Regarding the density analysis and total soluble solids, there was no statistical difference between carrots, green peppers and lettuce from all types (p>0.05). It was observed that the vitamin C levels in carrot samples levels had no significant difference between the different forms of production (p>0.05). Conventional lettuce and certified organic pepper showed higher vitamin C than the other samples (p<0.05). The antioxidant activity of the samples was analysed by the capacity to reduce the DPPH (1,1- diphenyl-2-picryl- hydrazyl) radical, in which carrot and conventional pepper showed lower antioxidant activity (p<0.05) when compared to organic samples. There were no significant differences among the different forms of production in the lettuce samples (p>0.05). Carrot and green pepper, with seal certification or not, showed higher capacity to reduce DPPH than the conventional ones, this suggests that the form of cultivation has a direct relationship with the nutritional values of the vegetables. Keywords: Carrot, lettuce, green pepper; organic, conventional, antioxidant activity, physico-chemical analysi

    Get PDF
Human anatomy is one of the fundamental disciplines for the training of health professionals, especially in the medical field. Its didactic origin is based on the European school where the body was dissected in amphitheaters and anatomical knowledge was transmitted from the teacher to his students. With the restructuring of medical curricula, and the use of active methodologies, seeking to make the student the center of the learning process, anatomy started to be taught in another way. This study carries out an integrative review in the Scielo, Science Direct and Google Scholar databases, from 2015 to 2020, about the active methodologies used in the teaching of human anatomy for the medical course. The PICo strategy was used to form the guiding question and the results were presented through the Prisma Flow diagram. It was found that there are a number of tools and strategies that can be used aiming at the active teaching of human anatomy, however, a common point observed in most works is the approach of joint use with cadavers and anatomical parts, thus seeking to stimulate the development of the skills and competences of medical students

We intend to discuss the Brazilian women representativeness in cosmetic catalogs of the brands Avon Brasil and Natura. Our starting point has been the nonscientific observation of an assumed new brand positioning expressed in their advertisement, where it is visible a plural representation of women. Thus, our main goal is identifying if the assumed new brand positioning is also reflected in their catalogs. The research is based on an empirical step of Content Analysis of the corpus and qualitative interpretation theoretically based of the data, following the assumption of the Grounded Theory. Briefly, we have concluded that a more plural representation is concentrated on the catalog covers, especially concerning the brand Avon Brasil, but that the general content continues to reflect a unison and excluding model of women representation, concerning the body shape, youth maintenance and ethnic-racial phenotypes
