A craftsman in the Urbanization of São Paulo: Rizkallah Jorge Tahan (1895-1949)

Ponencia presentada a Session 9: Forma urbana y relaciones entre historia y proyecto: el medio ambiente como patrimonio / Urban form and relationships between design and history: environmental heritage, arquitecture and planningSão Paulo between the late 19th century and early 20th was one of the main destinations of immigrants, specially because of the needs of supplying a labor for coffee, something that didn't mean that the immigration was only restricted to rural areas. The city has hosted both migrants dissatisfied with their contracts on farms, as those who directly saw it as a final destination, as the case of Syrian-Lebanese. The article analyzes the presence of this colony and focus on the trajectory of one of his representatives, Rizkallah Jorge Tahan, this research intends to reconstruct the trajectory of this immigrant and analyze his interventions in the urban space of São Paulo

Designerly Modus of Wandering and Shared Film Creation in “Corpos Palimpsésticos”: Artistic creations in times of socio-affective contingencies

“Corpos Palimps sticos”1 emerged in 2020, in a moment of worldwide pandemic due to Covid-19 and because of the end of our relationship as lovers. Soon after our separation, and thanks to the call for proposals of the Residency Program “Residências em Residências Circolando / Central Elétrica 2020 – FASE 2”, the idea of mourning the separation through a creative gesture was born. The fruition of artistic objects in their physical places has been interrupted due to the restriction to people gathering in closed spaces. This new reality has forced artists to rethink the format of their works so they could reach a public that, without the usual places, is now reterritorialized in a digital environment. Thus, the project’s goal was the production of video-performances and the constant online sharing of our creation process. The project had an interdisciplinary approach, and although design and filmmaking were the privileged areas, the work also included text creation, photography, music, and scientific research. We will analyse here existing approaches of creation methods such as co-creation in documentary, art-based research, art thinking and a recontextualization of design thinking in order to reframe these modes of creation in “Corpos Palimps sticos”. By using more than a single methodology, we are interested in a process where our areas of research/creation can dialogue randomly in a non-hierarchical way. Once the residency was over, we systematized the creation process that gave rise to this text. Finally, we created the term “Designerly Modus of Wandering” and used the term “Shared Film Creation” of a previous research to base our creative journey in the areas of design and film creation

A Jurupiga é um tipo de licor feito a partir da uva, sendo produzida majoritariamente na Ilha dos Marinheiros, 2º distrito de Rio Grande. Este artigo é baseado nas pesquisas feitas para o projeto de mestrado “O modo de fazer Jurupiga: Memória, identidade e patrimônio na Ilha dos Marinheiros (Rio Grande/RS)” e tem por objetivo abordar o modo de fazer Jurupiga e seu significado enquanto referência cultural e identitária, através da narrativa do produtor Hermes da Silva Dias. Além disto, se busca compreender o impacto que a geração da lei, que no ano de 2010 a tornou patrimônio imaterial da cidade de Rio Grande, teve na comunidade.Sem bols

Museificação territorial: fundamentos de um conceito

The word “museification” has been used in the reflections of various disciplinary fields. It is a concept that has been little discussed and lacks epistemological clarity. Thus, this article presents a conceptual approach dedicated to understanding the process of museification, seeking a basis to formulate its definition and to enable territorial analysis. This was a qualitative research, with a case study in which eight processes of museification, identified in the conceptual foundation, are used in the analysis of the Caravaggio Circuit (Santa Teresa, ES, Brazil). The result demonstrates the true link between the museification of the territory and the cultural itineraries.A palavra “museificação” tem sido utilizada em reflexões de diversos campos disciplinares. Trata-se de concepção ainda pouco discutida, carente de clareza epistemológica. Assim, este artigo apresenta uma abordagem conceitual dedicada ao entendimento do processo de museificação, buscando embasamento para formular sua definição e viabilizar análises territoriais. Configura-se como pesquisa qualitativa, com estudo de caso no qual oito processos próprios da museificação, identificados na fundamentação conceitual, são usados na análise do Circuito Caravaggio (Santa Teresa, ES, Brasil). A multidisciplinary treatment of congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors: a 14-year follow-up case report

Absence of the maxillary lateral incisor creates an aesthetic problem which can be managed in various ways. The condition requires careful treatment planning and consideration of the options and outcomes following either space closure or prosthetic replacement. Recent developments in restorative dentistry have warranted a re-evaluation of the approach to this clinical situation. Factors relating both to the patient and the teeth, including the presentation of malocclusion and the effect on the occlusion must be considered. The objective of this study was to describe the etiology, prevalence and alternative treatment modalities for dental agenesis and to present a clinical case of agenesis of the maxillary lateral incisors treated by the closure of excessive spaces and canine re-anatomization. A clinical case is presented to illustrate the interdisciplinary approach between orthodontics and restorative dentistry for improved esthetic results. In this report, the treatment of a girl with a Class II malocclusion of molars and canines with missing maxillary lateral incisors and convex facial profile is shown. Treatment was successfully achieved and included the space closure of the areas corresponding to the missing upper lateral incisors, through movement of the canines and the posterior teeth to mesial by fixed appliances as well as the canines transformation in the maxillary lateral incisors. This is a 14-year follow-up case report involving orthodontics and restorative dentistry in which pretreatment, posttreatment, and long-term follow-up records for the patient are presented

Food risk regulation : the tensions of the Brazilian Health Surveillance System

Este artigo aborda a dinâmica das práticas da vigilância sanitária de alimentos no Brasil, destacando as suas particularidades quanto aos riscos e modalidades de intervenção, assim como ressaltando os recentes instrumentos adotados para o controle dos riscos relativos à composição nutricional dos alimentos e suas repercussões no âmbito institucional. Instituída no Brasil desde a Primeira República, essa prática vem se remodelando ao longo dos anos, tanto pela complexidade crescente dos riscos, quanto pela introdução de novos instrumentos institucionais. Nos últimos anos, evidencia-se um esvaziamento da competência regulatória quando da adoção dos instrumentos, acordos e termos de compromisso, firmados entre o governo e as indústrias para lidar com os riscos de ordem nutricional dos produtos alimentícios. Instrumentos construídos sem a participação dos consumidores, com elasticidade de prazos para cumprimento pelas indústrias e ineptos para a fiscalização, denotando retrocessos na construção democrática e na prática da regulação sanitária de alimentos no Brasil.This article addresses the dynamics of Brazilian food control practices, highlighting their special risk-related features and the types of intervention, as well as the recently adopted instruments to control risks related to the nutritional composition of food and their institutional repercussions. Food regulation in Brazil dates back to the First Republic. The practice has been remodeled over the years, due to both the increasing complexity of the risks and the introduction of new institutional operational mechanisms. In recent years, with the adoption of instruments such as agreements and terms of commitments established between government and industry and designed to control risks, it has become possible to identify widening gaps in regulatory competence. The adoption of mechanisms without the participation of consumers, with elastic deadlines for compliance by industries and insusceptible to inspection, represents a setback in the democratic process and the practice of health regulation of food currently under way in Brazil

Information Architecture for Organizations: An Ontological Approach

In the scope of corporations, information and knowledge management are essential practices that are carried out through information systems. In this chapter, we discuss the foundations of an ontological-based architecture for organizing information and knowledge within corporations. Our research focus on three main efforts: (i) to shed some light on the ontological status of corporations, (ii) to understand the relations between corporate units, and (iii) to approach the duties that corporations have to manage. After presenting background theories, we analyze the corporation through two dimensions, namely, a descriptive and a normative. While the former approaches the structure of the corporation from the point of view of its units, the latter approaches it from the point of view of duties and obligations. The descriptive side of our investigation is conducted through principles of top-level formal ontologies; the normative side is addressed through the so-called social ontology. The relevance of developing such analysis rests on the need of a better understanding of corporations, its structures, and its activities. Such insight can provide a formal framework suitable to be applied in information systems, working in the context of modern technologies like the Semantic Web
