Effect of Potash Levels and Plant Density on Potato Yield

Get PDF
The research study effect of potash levels and plant density on potato yield was carried out during 2012 at New Developmental Farm Horticulture Section, University of Agriculture, Peshawar. Experiment was layout in split plot arrangement of the Randomized Complete Block Design while each treatment was repeated thrice. Four levels of Sulphate of potash (SOP) i.e. 0.00, 50.00, 100.00 and 150.00 kg ha-1and three plant spacing i.e. 15 cm, 25 cm and 35 cm were studied for different growth and yield parameters. Result showed that the tallest plant height (97.07 cm), highest number of tubers plant-1 (8), the number of large size tuber plot-1 (37) and yield of large size tubers plot-1 (6.5 t ha-1) was recorded at 35 cm plant spacing. The highest number of tubers plot-1 (82.25), number of medium size tuber (36.50), yield of medium size tuber (8.13 t ha-1) and total yield (15.91 t ha-1) were recorded at 25 cm plant spacing. The highest number of small size tuber plot-1 (33.16) and yield of small size tubers (4.52 t ha-1) was recorded at 15 cm plant spacing , while the tallest plant height (98.87 cm), maximum number of tubers plant-1(6.85), number of tubers plot-1(88.66), highest number of small size tubersplot-1 (28.77), medium size tubersplot-1 (39.44), large size tubers plot-1 (28), highest yield of small size tubers (3.55), medium size tubers (7.55), large size tubers (5.16 t ha-1) and total tuber yield (16.27 t ha-1) was recorded by using potash @ of 150 kg ha-1. Result lead to the conclusion that the best performance of potato crop were recorded in most of growth and yield parameter at 25 cm plant spacing with 150 kg potash ha-1. Therefore, this production technology is recommended for the highest potato crop under the agro climatic condition of Peshawar

Mechanism of saline deposition and surface flashover on high-voltage insulators near shoreline:mathematical models and experimental validations

Get PDF
This paper deals with sea salt transportation and deposition mechanisms and discusses the serious issue of degradation of outdoor insulators resulting from various environmental stresses and severe saline contaminant accumulation near the shoreline. The deterioration rate of outdoor insulators near the shoreline depends on the concentration of saline in the atmosphere, the influence of wind speed on the production of saline water droplets, moisture diffusion and saline penetration on the insulator surface. This paper consists of three parts: first a model of saline transportation and deposition, as well as saline penetration and moisture diffusion on outdoor insulators, is presented; second, dry-band initiation and formation modelling and characterization under various types of contamination distribution are proposed; finally, modelling of dry-band arcing validated by experimental investigation was carried out. The tests were performed on a rectangular surface of silicone rubber specimens (12 cm × 4 cm × 8 cm). The visualization of the dry-band formation and arcing was performed by an infrared camera. The experimental results show that the surface strength and arc length mainly depend upon the leakage distance and contamination distribution. Therefore, the model can be used to investigate insulator flashover near coastal areas and for mitigating saline flashover incidents.</p

A Historical Study of World Religious Monuments and Celebrities Memorable Places in Religious Perspective

Get PDF
The most tangible expression of religious ecology is through the veneration of nature. Diversity of procedure & approaches were designated as holy in different religions, and they are held in deep respect in honor of their assumed holiness. Many examples can be seen through the glimpse into the human civilization & history. The sacred journey is a religious act suggested for the specific spiritual cause, and it stand for a corridor to scrupulous holy sites. This research study will explore the status of Pilgrimage and the holiness of sacred places in their particular religious doctrine and practice using qualitative method. The research study will elaborate that some sacred journeys are difficult and require great obligation to complete. The purpose of research is to examine the sacred places are a bond to their followers because they have heartily association with them. The devotees have to offer sacrifice and sometime keeps fasting and travel bare-footed. It is also persuaded by the world religions to visit these sacred monuments. People visit and purified spiritually

Intraocular Metastasis as the Presenting Symptom of NSCLC and the Role of Bevacizumab: A Case Report

Get PDF
Introduction: Metastasis to the eye is a rare clinical entity accounting for about 2-9% ocular malignancies. Clinical awareness can lead to prompt diagnosis and appropriate management.Case presentation: We here present a case of a 60-year-old patient who visited to several ophthalmologists with the complaint of blurry vision in his left eye. He was diagnosed with anterior uveitis and elevated intraocular pressure. A masquerade syndrome was suspected, and anterior chamber paracentesis was performed, which revealed metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). CT chest revealed a left lung mass with right paratracheal lymphadenopathy. No other evidence of metastatic disease was found on PET/CT scan and MRI of the brain. He received treatment for stage IV lung cancer with carboplatin, paclitaxel, and bevacizumab. The intraocular tumor cell infiltration was treated with intravitreal bevacizumab that resulted in subjective and objective improvement. Conclusion: Metastasis to the eye may present in a masquerade-like fashion as intraocular inflammation. Tumor specific therapy directed locally within the eye may be a component of an overall treatment plan.

Motivation for Muslim Travellers to the Holy City of Jerusalem

Get PDF
This paper discusses and explores empirical and personal insights into religious tourism and pilgrimage, exploring it from a Muslim pilgrims’ perspective, reflecting on characterisations and motivations and discussing the sacred Journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from the Holy Mosque (Makkah) to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Travel is important for Muslims. Indeed, it was during the journey of Miraj that Allah ordered Muslims to pray the five daily prayers. The concept of Islam is not merely praising Allah (SWT). Islam also means to serve society according to the directions of Allah (SWT) and the teachings of his final Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH). Islam strongly prohibits divisiveness of community or society in terms of sociological groups, racism and sectarianism. Thus, the main purpose of Muslim visitors when visiting pilgrimage sites is holistic, to enhance their knowledge, find pleasure, love and to offer dedication. Muslim visitor’s motivation for pilgrimage to sites such as Al Aqsa Mosque is to offer prayers and visit the holy site. This paper will begin with a brief discussion on the Islamic approach to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and explain the principles on which Islamic values for society are based according to the teachings Allah (SWT) and the perfect examples of his Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The paper will also explore the journey of Miraj and will offer discussion on pilgrimage engagement in religious rituals at the holy city of Jerusalem
