    paper investigates the perception and attitudes of non-business major students in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) towards economics education and their relationship on students’ academic performance. One of the key performance indicators in the academic programme of the university is to achieve less than twenty percent failures in all subjects offered. A four-semester examination results revealed that students constantly obtained high failure rate in two economics introductory subjects. Using students taking these two economics courses as respondents, dimensions of attitudes towards economics education were identified through the use of an exploratory factor analysis. Four factors were extracted from a 26- item questionnaire identified as ‘Value’, ‘Difficulty’, ‘Cognitive’ and ‘Affective’. Cronbach’s Alpha for the four factors was acceptable. The findings suggested that there was no significant difference between male and female students on the four dimensions of attitude even though the achievement of female students’ was higher than males. Students who did not perform were found to have a more negative attitude on the four dimensions of attitude compared to those who performed. Regression of the final exam scores on the four latent variables obtained from the factor analysis revealed that subject difficulty and gender, taken together, were significantly associated with students’ achievemen

    The Electronic Lecturer Evaluation System (E-LEva) is an online system to evaluate the performance of UiTM Pahang lecturers at the end of every semester. The main users of e-LEva are students, the Academic Affairs (HEA) Department of UiTM Pahang and the lecturers. The main purpose of e-LEva is to let the students have a better platform to evaluate their lecturers. The HEA can immediately retrieve the statistics of the evaluation and lecturers can identify the level of the students’ satisfaction regarding the teaching and learning process. This information is also important to inform the lecturers of the quality of their teaching styles implemented in the classroom. The previous traditional process was very complicated and tedious; the process of data compilation itself took more than three months. Thus, the implementation of e-LEva helps the management especially the HEA of UiTM Pahang in reducing time, resources and cost. e-LEva was developed based on the specific requirements identified by the HEA. To fulfill the requirements of the university, academics and students, a lot of improvements have been done on e-LEva within the two years of its implementation. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimanakah pengurusan administrasi pasca pemekaran kecamatan Bina Widya. Tuntutan dari pemekaran wilayah yang terjadi selama ini pada umumnya didasari oleh tidak terjangkau pemerintah dalam menjalankan fungsi pelayanan yang maksimal sebagai akibat dari luasnya wilayah dan perkembangan jumlah penduduk di samping sarana dan prasarana penunjang lainnya. Hal ini bagi penulis cukup menarik untuk dielaborasi lebih lanjut untuk mengetahui kenapa itu bisa terjadi. Padahal pelayanan Publik sudah dibuka oleh pemerintah, karena sudah ada beberapa masyarakat yang mengurus KTP dan surat lainnya, namun masih banyak masyarakat yang belum mengetahui hal ini. Sehingga penulis tertarik melakukan penelitian tentang dampak dari pemekaran wilayah Kecamatan Bina Widya terhadap pelayanan publik di wilayah ini, khususnya dalam hal pelayanan administrasi pengurusan Kartu Keluarga. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pejabat dan pegawai yang terdapat dalam Kantor Kecamatan Bina Widya. sampel yang penulis gunakan teknik yang disebut teknik total sampling yaitu teknik pengambilan sampel dimana jumlah sampel sama dengan populasi. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara adalah Di dalam konsep di atas apabila dikaitkan dengan permasalahan ini di mana pihak kecamatan telah memenuhi dan menjalankan tupoksi nya berdasarkan perwako yang ada dengan memberikan pelayanan yang terbaik kepada masyarakat dan bimbingan kepada masyarakat serta menempatkan orang-orang yang berkompeten dan professional dalam melaksanakan tugas dikarenakan kecamatan barudimekarkan pasti ada beberapa kendala dihadapi namun pihak kecamatan mampu mengatasi hal tersebut.     Determination of Optimal Time-Average Wind Speed Data in the Southern Part of Malaysia

Researchers often suggest it as an ideal place for generating electricity from wind power. However, before a location is chosen, several factors need to be considered. By analyzing the location ahead of time, resource waste can be avoided and maximum profitability to various parties can be realized. For this study, the focus is to identify the distribution of the wind speed of Mersing and to determine the optimal average of wind speed. This study is critical because the wind speed data for any region has its distribution. It changes daily and by season. Moreover, no determination has been made regarding selecting the average wind speed used for wind studies. The wind speed data is averaged to 1, 10, 30, and 60 minutes and used to find the optimal wind speed average. This study used Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Chi-Square as the goodness of fit. The finding shows that the wind speed distribution in Mersing varies according to the time average used and the best fit distribution is Gen. Gamma.  In contrast, the optimal average wind speed is 10 minutes due to the highest similarity results with 1-minute data. These affect the reliability of the finding, accuracy of the estimation and decisions made. Therefore, the implementation of this study is significant so that the wind distribution in a particular area is more accurate

    Solar energy is known as renewable and clean source of energy. This tremendous amount of energy is widely used from small portable application to gigawatt size power plant generation. It has been utilized for various off grid or standalone applications including for vehicles. However, the progress of Solar Car (SC) was unsatisfied. Unlike Hydrogen Car (HC) and Pure Electric Vehicle (PEV), there is no commercialize SC marketed yet. Many strategies contributed to the successful of HC and PEV such as supportive policy, taxation, facilities and private involvement. The main component of SC can be simplified and consists of the structure, photovoltaic (PV) module, rechargeable battery pack, electric motor and power management unit. Main issue for SC is how to match between energy require and supply. Researchers are trying to find multiple solution from various aspects. Thirty SC prototypes were developed globally by numerous parties and most of them from academic bodies or universities. The purpose of the development is for solar car racing and to break commercialization boundary. As far as technology is concern, to achieve self-powered SC is quite challenging. The nearest potential solution can be learned from HC and PEV. All these potential solutions must be balance with the other side factor and come with a cost

    Artikel ini membincangkan tentang sosok negarawan Malaysia yang juga merupakan Perdana Menteri Malaysia ke-tiga iaitu Tun Hussein Onn (1976-1981). Beliau menggantikan Allahyarhan Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato Husin yang meninggal dunia di England semasa memegang jawatan Perdana Menteri Malaysia. Sebagai pengganti, kewibawaan dan karisma beliau sebagai seorang pemimpin sebuah negara yang masih muda telah diuji dengan pelbagai perkara. Selain itu, beliau juga merumuskan beberapa langkah baharu demi kebaikan dan kemajuan negara. Tempoh beliau memegang jawatan sebagai Perdana Menteri tidaklah panjang kerana meletak kawatan pada tahun 1981 atas sebab-sebab kesihatan. Namun demikian, dalam jangka masa yang pendek itu, beliau telah meletakkan namanya sebagai seorang pemimpin dan negarawan yang mencorakkan Malaysia

    Charge-discharge characteristics improvement through optimization of voltage range for LiNiCoMnO2 electrode for high energy density lithium-ion batteries

    The development of suitable electrode materials for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) to enhance the performance of LIBs in order to meet increasingly demand globally is one of the challenges. Thus, for almost three decades since 1980, continuous study for high performance LIBs electrode has been done. In this report, the optimization charge-discharge characteristic of LiNiCoMnO2 (LNCM) cathode – layered structured material with lithium metal as anode has been evaluated. The electrode was assembled together with Celgard as separator and organic electrolyte Lithium hexafluorophosphate (1M LiPF6, EC:DEC 1:1) in coin cells (CR2032) under argon atmosphere inside a glove box. The charge-discharge performance test was conducted using Neware battery testing system. The discussion in this paper is focusing on the characteristic features of the charge-discharge profile, optimize charge-end voltage and rate capability (C-rate). The studies discovered the voltage range has been optimized up to 3.3-4.5 V at a constant current of 0.35 mA (0.1 C) with voltage plateau of 4.0 V. The result indicated the optimized range has the highest specific capacity of 118 mAh/g and most stable coulombic efficiency (94.3%)

    Synthesis of Cuo and Zno nanoparticles and Cuo doped Zno nanophotocatalysts

    Nanocrystalline copper oxide (CuO) particles were precipitated by using different sources of copper salts and oxalic acids. The transformation to monoclinic CuO is achieved by heating the copper precipitate at 300°C for 4 h. Dice-like and flower-like structures were obtained from the effects of by-product’s acidity to the morphology of copper oxalate (Cu (C2O4)). The particle sizes of all samples, determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), were in the range of 10-30 nm. 0.5% CuO doped ZnO (CuO-ZnO) nanophotocatalysts were successfully prepared by mixing synthesized CuO nanoparticles with synthesized ZnO in absolute methanol. No significant changes in morphology were observed between the undoped and doped ZnO except for a higher surface area obtained for CuO doped ZnO. The doping of CuO on ZnO also resulted in enhanced photocatalytic performance of ZnO in the photodegradation of methyl orange dye

    0.5 - 2.0% CuO-doped ZnO (CuO-ZnO) photocatalysts were prepared with a simple mixing method where the oxides were initially synthesized through precipitation. The physico-chemical properties of CuO-doped ZnO photocatalysts were studied via XRD, TEM, XRF and BET method and their photoactivity was evaluated by degrading methyl orange (MO) dye. The properties of ZnO were not affected by the addition of CuO except for the particle size of the photocatalyst, which increased proportionally with CuO. In a photoactivity study, 1.0% CuO-ZnO photocatalyst has the highest degradation rate with the optimum mass loading of 1.5 g L-1. Increasing the initial concentration of MO reduced photocatalysts' photoactivity. The degradation of MO followed the pseudo-first order reaction. The photoactivity of CuO-ZnO was maintained until the fifth cycle, which indicates that it is a very stable compound

    Pendayaupayaan psikologi dalam kajian ini merupakan perubahan yang positif kepada dimensi psikologi ahli-ahli PWPK seperti efikasi diri, kebanggaan diri dan tingkahlaku proaktif yang diperolehi setelah menyertai Organisasi Berasaskan Komuniti (OBK).Atas alasan ini kajian ini dilakukan bagi menentukan hubungan antara tahap penyertaan(pembuatan keputusan, perlaksanaan dan penerimaan faedah dengan pendayaupayaan psikologi dalaman ahli PWPK di Johor. Seramai 366 ahli daripada 60 kumpulan PWPK telah dipilih dengan menggunakan kaedah persampelan kelompok pelbagai peringkat (cluster multistages sampling) sebagai responden kajian ini. Maklumat kajian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan soal selidik dan dianalisis menggunakan Pearson product moment correlation SPSS. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan ketiga-tiga tahap penyertaan mempunyai hubungan yang positif dengan pendayaupayaan psikologi. Justeru itu, bagi memastikan PWPK berfungsi sebagai medium pendayaupayaan, maka tahap penyertaan aktif perlu diperluaskan lagi
