The economy of the whole world developed so quickly, encourage increased consumption of energy gradually. Energy consumption in the building sector has also increased with the demands of society in thermal comfort in the room. With the hot weather, the influence of the temperature in the room will rise. Some things that need to be reviewed in the manufacture of concrete in the place are the price is relatively low, easy to obtain, has high compressive strength, and has resistant to any environmental conditions. However, some problems still need to be resolved in the development of the Phase Change Material (PCM) composite that has a stable form. The proposed PCM has a thermal comfort temperature (16-26 ℃). The main purpose of this research was to investigate the influence of addition beeswax as a water-resistant mixture on the mechanical and thermal properties of concrete. In this research, the cement used was ordinary Portland Cement and replaced some of its Weight with paraffin wax in the mixture. The results of the research with the use of 10, 20 and 30% beeswax in a mixture of a concrete show that the increase in the content of Beeswax resulted in a decrease in the compressive strength of 22% and an increase in heat absorption by the concrete between without PCM with the Concrete-PCM is obtained by 10%

Frameworks for urban green infrastructure (UGI) indicators

Climate-induced pressures spur on the need for urban green infrastructure (UGI) planning. This approach offers a possible way to improve ecosystem functionality and human well-being in adversely affected urban regions, wherein UGI is perceived as a green and nature-based climate change mitigation/adaptation strategy. In Pakistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province lacks such urban landscape and greening policies (ULGP) or legislative frameworks for transitioning to green action plans (GAP), to alleviate the risk of multi-climatic hazards. Thus, this study aims to investigate a sustainable UGI-indicator-based framework model, based on the due inclusion of the concerned stakeholders. The relative importance index (RII) and inter-quartile range (IQR) techniques are employed for field data analysis. The findings proclaim excellent reliability (α > 0.7) and internal consistency, wherein sustainable UGI indicators are grouped based on their importance. The results portray the ecological and economic sustainability dimensions as being important (RII = 0.835 and RII = 0.807, respectively), socio-cultural dimensions as being moderately important (RII = 0.795), and a set of UGS elements (RII ≥ 0.77) as vital for bolstering individual UGI indicators. The main UGS elements emerging in each category can be grouped as follows: ecological category—“reducing rainwater runoff” (RII = 0.94); socio-cultural category—“enhancement of mental and physical health” (RII = 0.90); and eco category—“minimizing the risk of flood disasters” (RII = 0.96). The simulation results demonstrate the need for an inclusive perspective when building the urban green space (UGS) infrastructure (and standards) that will be most suitable for ensuring climate-resilient urban regions. This study contributes to putting the scientific research knowledge of the natural green-landscape-based (NBLB) approach into practice. The study calls for the establishment of an effective, pragmatic relationship between the urban landscape and greening policies, alongside a constructive relationship with the native inhabitants to ensure eco-friendly and resilient settlement

Rising vulnerability of the urban green infrastructure (UGI) is grabbing global attention, for which inclusive urban landscape and greening policies (ULGP) and frameworks are crucial to support green growth. As such, this research intends to explore the local community’s perspective to assemble sustainable UGI indicators for vital taxonomy of the urban green space (UGS) elements, aiming to develop a multi-functional and sustainable UGI-indicator-based framework that is eco-friendly and supports green-resilient cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, Pakistan. An in-depth household survey was executed in three KP districts: Charsadda, Peshawar, and Mardan, placing self-administered 192 questionnaires while covering themes around climate change adaptation, urban resilience, and UGI. Relative importance index (RII) and the interquartile range (IQR) methods were set up for data analysis that revealed excellent reliability (α > 0.88) and internal consistency. The results confirmed community-based UGI indicators with a focus on promoting green-energy-saving strategies as e-imp (level 9, RII = 0.915), while other (ten) UGI indicators as important (RII = 0.811–0.894) and (eleven) as moderately important (RII = 0.738–0.792). These UGI indicators were found to be enhanced by UGS elements (RII ≥ 0.70). These findings provide a foundation for urban policy change and the development of a sustainable UGI framework to build an eco-regional paradigm for greener growth

This brain signal is obtained from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. A significant obstacle to the development of BCIs based on EEG is the classification of subject-independent motor imagery data since EEG data are very individualized. Deep learning techniques such as the convolutional neural network (CNN) have illustrated their influence on feature extraction to increase classification accuracy. In this paper, we present a multi-branch (five branches) 2D convolutional neural network that employs several hyperparameters for every branch. The proposed model achieved promising results for cross-subject classification and outperformed EEGNet, ShallowConvNet, DeepConvNet, MMCNN, and EEGNet_Fusion on three public datasets. Our proposed model, EEGNet Fusion V2, achieves 89.6% and 87.8% accuracy for the actual and imagined motor activity of the eegmmidb dataset and scores of 74.3% and 84.1% for the BCI IV-2a and IV-2b datasets, respectively. However, the proposed model has a bit higher computational cost, i.e., it takes around 3.5 times more computational time per sample than EEGNet_Fusion.Peer reviewe

    Get PDF
One of the wide engineering fields is aircraft technologies and one of the most common needs for Airplane or UAV is estimating the altitude, which is some time difficult to estimate due to weather fluctuations and instability of the main parameters like pressure and speed. However, a combination of different sensors has been used to estimate altitude to guarantee an accurate reading and it is the method used these days. To overcome this problem is to use more capable technology such as machine vision based system to estimate the altitude, as advantages light weight, intelligence and accuracy, cheaper than commercial sensors as well as, computationally inexpensive. In this paper, we propose a vision-based system that can perform altitude estimation from aerial images. The satisfactory experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system

Background: Self-efficacy is developed through a person’s interaction with his/her physical and social environment. Self-efficacy in caring is an essential attribute of care workers to develop a positive attitude towards their clients, improve work performance, and enhance job satisfaction. Care workers’ self-efficacy may vary according to the context in which the care is being provided. Aged care is a multidimensional and challenging setting, and characteristics of aged care services are different from those of acute care services. The objective of this review is to give an overview of the self-efficacy of residential aged care workers in caring for older people and factors influencing their self-efficacy. Methods: The protocol for this review is based on the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewer’s Manual for Scoping Review. A systematic search of the literature on electronic databases MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, AgeLine, SCOPUS, and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global will be carried out using predefined search terms to identify relevant studies. This review will include studies that examined the self-efficacy of direct care workers in caring for older people living in residential aged care facilities. All primary studies irrespective of the study design will be included. Studies conducted to develop measures or studies with informal care workers or students as study participants will not be considered. Two reviewers will independently conduct title and abstract screening, full-text screening, and data charting. A third reviewer will resolve discrepancies, while the final decision for conflicting studies will be made by consensus within the review team. Descriptive statistics will be utilized to analyze the quantitative findings, and the result will be presented in narrative form accompanied by tables and charts. Content analysis will be carried to analyze the qualitative findings and will be presented in narrative form supported by illustrative quotations. Discussion: This study will be an important source of knowledge to policymakers and aged care providers to understand the self-efficacy of aged care workers to support and enhance their self-efficacy and thereby improve their caring behaviors towards their clients. Performance Analysis of Sensing-based Semi-Persistent Scheduling (SB-SPS) MAC Protocol for C-V2X

    Get PDF
Sensing-based Semi-Persistent Scheduling (SB-SPS) MAC protocol is proposed as part of the latest cellular vehicle to everything (C-V2X) standard for medium access between vehicles. As C-V2X uses LTE based frame structure, mode 4 of the C-V2X standard uses SB-SPS to allocate resource blocks effectively. C-V2X shows great potential for the future as it brings many improvements such as enhanced range, reliability, and the ability to support and evolve with emerging technologies such as 5G. In this article, the SB-SPS protocol’s performance was analyzed in different scenarios using OMNET++, SUMO, and Veins simulator. Different vehicle speeds and densities were used to observe the effect on packet loss and throughput. It was found that as packet loss decreased, throughput increased when the mobility of vehicles decreased. The effects of changing some important parameters of SB-SPS were also observed. The results showed that while parameters such as increasing the number of subchannels increased the packet delivery ratio (PDR), the change in the probability of resource reselection parameter did not affect the PDR
