The latex production facilities of BUNA GMBH/Schkopau, East Germany, produce waste water burdened with monomers and solids. This project, carried out as a joint venture of BUNA GMBH and the Chemical Engineering Department of RWTH Aachen and funded by the BMFT, is to provide the basis for a suitable water treatment process. Various processes, i.e. reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration and microfiltration, monomer evaporation and adsorption on activated carbon, were investigated with a view to their applicability and economic efficiency. The various process stages will be combined in different ways. In order to clean monomer loaded waste waters of rubber production there were investigated three modifications of processing. In laboratory-scale there were obtained experimental results to coagulation, evaporation, micro-/ultrafiltration and reversal osmosis. These data were the basis of the lay-out of equipments and the selection of suitable membranes. First economical investigations showed, that the modification of processing by using membrane processes is favourable compared to the evaporation process. The check and improvement of the results in pilot-plant-stage had been prepared by work out of the duty specification and procurement of the equipment. The use of the results is considered to be realised in a manufacturing plant of the BUNA AGAvailable from TIB Hannover: D.DT.F.QN1(8,9) / FIZ - Fachinformationszzentrum Karlsruhe / TIB - Technische InformationsbibliothekSIGLEBundesministerium fuer Forschung und Technologie (BMFT), Bonn (Germany)DEGerman
