    Complex symmetric partial isometries

    Get PDF
An operator T \in B(\h) is complex symmetric if there exists a conjugate-linear, isometric involution C:\h\to\h so that T=CT∗CT = CT^*C. We provide a concrete description of all complex symmetric partial isometries. In particular, we prove that any partial isometry on a Hilbert space of dimension ≤4\leq 4 is complex symmetric.Comment: 9 page

C∗C^*-algebras generated by truncated Toeplitz operators

    Get PDF
We obtain an analogue of Coburn's description of the Toeplitz algebra in the setting of truncated Toeplitz operators. As a byproduct, we provide several examples of complex symmetric operators which are not unitarily equivalent to truncated Toeplitz operators having continuous symbols.Comment: 12 page

Spatial isomorphisms of algebras of truncated Toeplitz operators

We examine when two maximal abelian algebras in the truncated Toeplitz operators are spatially isomorphic. This builds upon recent work of N. Sedlock, who obtained a complete description of the maximal algebras of truncated Toeplitz operators.Comment: 24 page

Exciton Dissociation Dynamics in Model Donor-Acceptor Polymer Heterojunctions: I. Energetics and Spectra

In this paper we consider the essential electronic excited states in parallel chains of semiconducting polymers that are currently being explored for photovoltaic and light-emitting diode applications. In particular, we focus upon various type II donor-acceptor heterojunctions and explore the relation between the exciton binding energy to the band off-set in determining the device characteristic of a particular type II heterojunction material. As a general rule, when the exciton binding energy is greater than the band off-set at the heterojunction, the exciton will remain the lowest energy excited state and the junction will make an efficient light-emitting diode. On the other hand, if the off-set is greater than the exciton binding energy, either the electron or hole can be transferred from one chain to the other. Here we use a two-band exciton to predict the vibronic absorption and emission spectra of model polymer heterojunctions. Our results underscore the role of vibrational relaxation and suggest that intersystem crossings may play some part in the formation of charge-transfer states following photoexcitation in certain cases

Phonon-driven ultrafast exciton dissociation at donor-acceptor polymer heterojunctions

A quantum-dynamical analysis of phonon-driven exciton dissociation at polymer heterojunctions is presented, using a hierarchical electron-phonon model parameterized for three electronic states and 24 vibrational modes. Two interfering decay pathways are identified: a direct charge separation, and an indirect pathway via an intermediate bridge state. Both pathways depend critically on the dynamical interplay of high-frequency C=C stretch modes and low-frequency ring-torsional modes. The ultrafast, highly non-equilibrium dynamics is consistent with time-resolved spectroscopic observations

Fire Impact on Wood: The Next Five Years

    Get PDF
A forecast of effects of fire regulations on ten wood product categories in the next five years is presented. With more federal regulations anticipated, fire properties of products sold in the marketplace will be affected. Each product is discussed with emphasis on significant fire performance categories. If tests demonstrate potential hazards such as flame-spread, ease of ignition, or toxicity of combustion products for any wood products, appro-propriate improvements must be made

An LP-Based Approach for Goal Recognition as Planning

Goal recognition aims to recognize the set of candidate goals that are compatible with the observed behavior of an agent. In this paper, we develop a method based on the operator-counting framework that efficiently computes solutions that satisfy the observations and uses the information generated to solve goal recognition tasks. Our method reasons explicitly about both partial and noisy observations: estimating uncertainty for the former, and satisfying observations given the unreliability of the sensor for the latter. We evaluate our approach empirically over a large data set, analyzing its components on how each can impact the quality of the solutions. In general, our approach is superior to previous methods in terms of agreement ratio, accuracy, and spread. Finally, our approach paves the way for new research on combinatorial optimization to solve goal recognition tasks.Comment: 8 pages, 4 tables, 3 figures. Published in AAAI 2021. On the stability analysis of periodic sine-Gordon traveling waves

    Get PDF
We study the spectral stability properties of periodic traveling waves in the sine-Gordon equation, including waves of both subluminal and superluminal propagation velocities as well as waves of both librational and rotational types. We prove that only subluminal rotational waves are spectrally stable and establish exponential instability in the other three cases. Our proof corrects a frequently cited one given by Scott.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figure

Analisa Dampak Pembangunan Rumah Sakit Siloam Manado Terhadap Kinerja Lalu Lintas Ruas Jalan Sam Ratulangi Dan Piere Tendean Manado
