Abstract: The aim of our work is to address four points. First, to recover the philosophical figure of Manuel Granell (Oviedo, 1906 – Caracas, 1993), one of the great disciples of Ortega, unfortunately, forgotten. Second, to show that the recovery of Granell´s work offers some keys for an alternative interpretation of Ortega´s work considering the phenomenological tradition started by Brentano and Husserl, as a counterpart from the interpretation of other eminent disciples of Ortega like Antonio Rodríguez Huéscar or Julián Marías. Third, to address such problem following the Science of Estimation developed by Ortega in 1916, and forth, to show the close relation between such science and the so called “Ethologia” developed by Granell.Nuestro trabajo persigue cuatro objetivos.

Integral development of students is promoted through tutorial action. Tutorial action is understood as the personal development of students, their learning, and their capabilities for social and labour integration. A descriptive, nonexperimental and ex post facto design was used. The sample consisted of 569 primary school students. The importance of emotional education and student tutoring was highlighted by the results produced. A relationship was established between working on emotions and emotional regulation, cognitive re-evaluation, and capacity to respond in an emotionally appropriate way when faced with different situations.Unidad de Calidad, Innovacion Docente y Prospectiva, Universidad de Granada 19-2

Aceite de oliva virgen y regulación hormonal de la presión arterial: una revisión del papel de los enzimas proteolíticos

    Get PDF
The intake of high fat dietary levels is related to the development of several pathologies such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer. However, epidemiological studies have demonstrated that not only the amount but also the type of dietary fat participates in the origin of the diseases. In fact, several important beneficts have been attributed to the Mediterranean diet, characterized by the high intake of monoinsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid preferently. In any case, the relationship between the type of dietary fat an the development of diseases are unknown. Aminopeptidases are proteolytic enzymes involved in several biological proccesses, regulating blood pressure through the renin-angiotensin system. In this review, the influence of an olive oil-enriched diet is presented, analyzing their role in the regulation of blood pressure, local blood flow and fluid and electrolytic balance among other functions

This research study analyzes teacher training in order to promote and manage coexistence at secondary education schools by means of a description of students’ behaviors and by providing some proposals for improvement. We used a documentary analysis of university teacher training programs and a descriptive and assessment questionnaire of students’ behaviors towards coexistence and teachers´ reactions at five schools with a high immigration rate. Also, we developed a teacher focus group in order to put forwards some suggestions for improving these contexts. Results show a lack of training of teachers on these issues, significant differences in the assessment of certain behaviors measured by gender and teaching experience, disapproving responses by both males and females teachers, and a limited use of educational strategies that might improve coexistence at schools.

SARS-CoV-2 infection and lung cancer : potential therapeutic modalities

    Get PDF
Human coronaviruses, especially SARS-CoV-2, are emerging pandemic infectious diseases with high morbidity and mortality in certain group of patients. In general, SARS-CoV-2 causes symptoms ranging from the common cold to severe conditions accompanied by lung injury, acute respiratory distress syndrome in addition to other organs’ destruction. The main impact upon SARS-CoV-2 infection is damage to alveolar and acute respiratory failure. Thus, lung cancer patients are identified as a particularly high-risk group for SARS-CoV-2 infection and its complications. On the other hand, it has been reported that SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein binds to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2), that promotes cellular entry of this virus in concert with host proteases, principally transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2). Today, there are no vaccines and/or effective drugs against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Thus, manipulation of key entry genes of this virus especially in lung cancer patients could be one of the best approaches to manage SARS-CoV-2 infection in this group of patients. We herein provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the role of ACE-2 and TMPRSS2 genes, as key entry elements as well as therapeutic targets for SARS-CoV-2 infection, which can help to better understand the applications and capacities of various remedial approaches for infected individuals, especially those with lung cancer

Alzheimer's disease: Is there a relationship between brain renin-angiotensin system, estradiol and glucose transporter-4 (GLUT-4)?

    Get PDF
One of the diseases more related to the continuous aging of the population is Alzheimer's disease, which is a type of dementia currently without either effective diagnosis biomarkers or treatments. Its higher prevalence in women makes it necessary to study pathways/systems that could participate and/or be involved in its development, as well as those that could be affected by hormonal factors, which, in this case, are estradiol levels. In this sense, one of the systems under study that is gaining special relevance in the scientific community is the brain renin-angiotensin system and its regulatory proteolytic enzymes. This system is strongly modulated by estrogens, and it is also connected with the cerebral glucose metabolism through the angiotensin IV receptor, also recognized as the insulin-regulated aminopeptidase (IRAP). Due to the fact that the cerebral glucose metabolism is highly compromised in patients with Alzheimer's disease, it is necessary to know the elements of the systems and their functions in this process, namely, the cerebral renin-angiotensin system, estradiol and IRAP, an enzyme and receptor co-localized in brain tissue with the insulin-dependent glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4). Knowledge of the connection between them could shed light on the molecular mechanisms of this disease and also provide new diagnostic and therapeutic targets

Amoebicidal activity of cationic carbosilane dendrons derived with 4-phenylbutyric acid against Acanthamoeba griffini and Acanthamoeba polyphaga trophozoites and cysts

Amoebae from the genus Acanthamoeba are important pathogens responsible for severe illnesses in humans such as Acanthamoeba keratitis and granulomatous amoebic encephalitis. In the last few decades, AK diagnoses have steadily increased. Most patients suffering from AK were contact lens users and the infection was related to poor hygiene. However, therapy is not yet well established, and treatments may last for several months due to resistance. Moreover, these treatments have been described to generate cytotoxicity. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new therapeutic strategies against AK. In this study, the amoebicidal activity of different generation cationic carbosilane dendrons derived with 4-phenylbutyric acid was demonstrated against Acanthamoeba polyphaga and Acanthamoeba griffini trophozoites and cysts. In addition, the combination of chlorhexidine digluconate and the most effective dendron (ArCO(2)G(2)(SNMe3I)(4)) showed an in vitro effect against Acanthamoeba trophozoites and cysts, reducing the minimal trophozoite amoebicidal concentration as well as concentrations with cysticidal activity.Ministerio de Economía y CompetitividadUniversidad de AlcaláComunidad de Madri

This paper presents the results obtained concerning the possible presence of camelids in the city of Cordoba (Spain) in Roman and medieval times, after the review of all the faunal assemblages corresponding to these historical periods deposited in the Provincial Archaeological Museum of the city. This research has allowed the recovery and contextualization of nine dromedary bone remains corresponding to nine individuals, four of which have been dated by C. A stable isotope analysis has also been carried out which indicates the possible arrival of these animals from other provinces of the empire in Roman times and from North Africa in medieval times. Besides, we carried out a bibliographical update of all bone remains found in the Iberian Peninsula for the periods analyzed, concluding that the main use of them was for transporting and manufacturing different tools. This study have been funded through the Andalusian Regional Government’s I + D + i-FEDER Andalucía 2014-2020 program.
