In the present work we have focused the discussion on the experimental and theoretical SERS spectra of the organic compound pATP recorded on silver colloids. The huge SERS of pATP on metal substrates is significantly different from its ordinary Raman spectra due to the formation of a new specie namely p,p’ –dimercaptoazobenzene (DMAB). The features of the SERS spectra of pATP are strongly dependent on many factors as i.e. the laser power density or the laser wavelength but there are still important aspects to understand as, for example, the effect of the concentration that has already been studied before by our group. In this case we have analyzed the effect of the concentration at different wavelengths on the SERS spectra of pATP on silver nanoparticles.Universidad de Málaga. Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature. This study was funded by the financial aid conceded to the Research Group CTS267 by Junta de Andalucia (Spain).Exercise addiction (EA) affects a considerable number of individuals who regularly perform exercise-sport activities. The co-occurrence of EA manifestations and the continuum of disordered eating-eating disorders (EDs) is so common in sports that a deeper understanding of them as comorbidities is warranted. The aim of this review is to provide an up-to-date overview and synthesis of the research on the relationship between maladaptive exercise and dysfunctional eating in the sport context. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. A total of 22 empirical studies (23 articles) with young and adult female and male athletes from several sports and competition levels was included. EA in conjunction with eating disturbances is frequent among athletes, yet the prevalence rates are inconsistent. Existing evidence suggests that EA is a relevant outcome of ED pathology among athletes, supporting the classical secondary type of EA. However, research also reveals that excessive exercising plays a central role in the psychopathology of disordered eating. There is a need for further quantitative research addressing the features and correlates of the EA-EDs dyad, qualitative research on the subjective experiences of athletes with disordered exercise and eating, longitudinal and experimental research to establish possible causal paths and attempts to develop comprehensive conceptual models of EA and its co-occurrence with EDs, in order to improve the identification, prevention, and management of this dyadic condition in the sport context.CRUE-CSIC agreementSpringer NatureJunta de Andalucia European Commissio

Management of progressive pulmonary fibrosis associated with connective tissue disease

Introduction: Fibrotic interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a frequent and severe complication of connective tissue disease (CTD). Areas covered: In this narrative review, we update the most relevant differential characteristics of fibrotic ILD associated with CTD (CTD-ILD) and propose a diagnostic and therapeutic approach based on a review of the articles published between 2002 and 2022 through PubMed. Expert opinion: The subset of ILD, mainly the radiological/histological pattern and the degree of fibrotic component, usually determines the prognosis and therapeutic strategy for these patients. Some patients with CTD-ILD can develop progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) with severe deterioration of lung function, rapid progression to chronic respiratory failure, and high mortality. PPF has been described in many CTDs, mainly in systemic sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis, and requires a multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic approach to improve patient outcomes

Comparison of Cu-CHA-zeolites in the hybrid NSR-SCR catalytic system for NOx abatement in mobile sources

DeNOx activity in a NSR–SCR hybrid system of two copper-containing chabazite-type zeolitic catalysts was addressed. A Pt-Ba-K/Al2O3 model catalyst was used as the NSR (NOx storage and reduction) catalyst. For the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system, two Cu-CHA zeolites were synthesized employing a single hydrothermal synthesis method assisted with ultrasound and incorporating Cu in a 2 wt.%, 2Cu-SAPO-34 and 2Cu-SSZ-13. The prepared catalysts were characterized, and the crystallinity, surface area, pore size, HR-TEM and EDX mapping, coordination of Cu ions and acidity were compared. The NH3 storage capacity of the SCR catalysts was 1890 and 837 ÎŒmol NH3·g−1cat for 2Cu-SAPO-34 and 2Cu-SSZ-13, respectively. DeNOx activity was evaluated for the single NSR system and the double-bed NSR–SCR by employing alternating lean (3%O2) and rich (1%H2) cycles, maintaining a concentration of 600 ppm NO, 1.5% H2O and 0.3% CO2 between 200 and 350 °C. The addition of the SCR system downstream of the NSR catalyst significantly improved NOx conversion mainly at low temperature, maintaining the selectivity to N2 above 80% and reaching values above 90% at 250 °C when the 2Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst was located. The total reduction in the production of NH3 and ~2% of N2O was observed when comparing the NSR–SCR configuration with the single NSR catalyst.SMR acknowledges the Economy and Competitiveness Spanish Ministry for the Ph.D. grant (PRE-2018-086107). Introduction. In the past decades, global warming resulting from the emission of greenhouse gases, consisting mainly of carbon dioxide and methane, has become one of society’s main concerns. In this context, there has been a growing interest in developing technologies that allow the capture and storage of CO2 in an economical and sustainable way. The application of a heterogeneous bimetallic nickel-barium catalyst as a dual material has been studied for its use in the CO2 regeneration cyclic process. The present work shows the data corresponding to the substitution of Ba by Ca or Sr and K as a bimetallic catalytic systems to analyse the structural and physicochemical properties and the effect on CO2 storage capacity. Experimental/methodology. The catalysts were synthesised by an ultrasonic assisted coprecipitation of the heterometallic mixed precursors employing an atomic ratio Ni:Me = 1:1 using colloidal silica as surface area promoting agent, and calcined at 800 °C in air for 4 h. X-ray diffraction (XRD), KBr-FTIR infrared, Raman spectroscopy and nitrogen adsorption-desorption were employed for the characterisation. The CO2 adsorption capacity was analysed at low temperature and at high reaction temperature. Results and discussion. The influence of the incorporation of the metal in combination with nickel has been studied and it has been found that, even at high temperature, it maintains a cubic structure with a surface area higher than 80 m2·g-1. The crystal size of bivalent or monovalent cation was not affected by the modification of the catalytic formulation. There is a correlation between CO2 adsorption capacitity and the electronegativity of the second metal incorporated to the nickel structure.Universidad de MĂĄlaga. Selective rearrangement of Nd3+ centers in LiNbO3 under ferroelectric domain inversion by electron beam writing

The following article appeared in Physical Review B - Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 78.1 (2008): 014114 and may be found at https://journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevB.78.014114Different values of the electronic charge provided by a direct electron beam writing system have been used to produce polarization inverted domain regions in the micrometer range on Nd3+ optically activated LiNbO3. The effect of the electronic charge on the Nd3+ center structure has been studied by means of low-temperature luminescence from Nd3+ ions. The axial crystal field acting on the Nd3+ centers has been analyzed through the F4 3/2 energy-level splitting of the Nd3+ ions. From there we have determined the position of Nd3+ ions into the Li+ octahedra for the different unequivalent centers in domains reversed with different electronic doses. The results show that the axial crystal field acting on the unequivalent Nd3+ centers can be selectively modified by means of the different doses applied to produce the inversion of the polarization. Moreover, a control of the discrete shifts suffered by the Nd3+ ions into the Li+ octahedra after the inversion process can be carried out in the range 0-0.02Å by selecting the type of Nd center to be shifted by means of the different electronic charge. The behavior of each Nd3+ center after the polarization inversion under different doses can be discriminated and the different nature, as well as the polar character of the Nd3+ centers, is clearly manifeste
