A high-performance lateral polysilicon photodiode was designed in standard 0.18 um CMOS technology. The device has a frequency bandwidth far in the GHz range: the measured bandwidth of the poly photodiode was 6 GHz, which gure was limited by the measurement equipment. The high intrinsic (physical) bandwidth is due to a short excess carrier lifetime. The external (electrical) bandwidth is also high because of a very small parasitic capacitance (<0.1 pF). This is the best bandwidth performance among all reported diodes designed in a standard CMOS. The quantum efficiency of this poly photodiode is 0.2% due to the very small light sensitive diode volume. The diode active area is limited by a narrow depletion region and its depth by the technology

Introduction. Poisoning caused by drugs with cardiodepressive effects is an urgent condition in medicine which is associated with high mortality rate regardless of modern therapeutic methods. Accidental or intentional poisoning whit these drugs produces heart activity depression and cardiovascular collapse as consequences. Current therapy for severe poisoning caused by beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers includes both unspecific and specific antidote therapy whit glucagon, as well as application of adrenergic drugs, calcium, phosphodiesterase inhibitors and hyperinsulinemia/euglycemia therapy. However, even whit the application of these drugs, prompt measures of unspecific detoxication therapy and cardiopulmonary reanimation are crucial for survival of patients with severe poisoning. Case report. A 28-year-old female patient was hospitalized for cardiogenic shock and altered state of conscioussnes (Glasgow coma score = 4), caused by acute poisoning with 2 g of metoprolol (Presolol®), 1.8 g of diltiazem (Cortiazem®) and 50 mg of cilazapril (Zobox®). Prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation was applied during the first 16 hours of hospitalization, including administration of crystaline solutions (8 L), 17 mg of adrenaline, 4 mg of atropine, 4 mg of glucagone and 1.6 g of dopamine, with electro-stimulation by temporary pacemaker and mechanical ventilation. In a defined time period, normalized state of consciousness was registered, mechanical ventilation was stopped and normal heart activity and hemodynamic stability were accomplished. During hospitalization the patient was treated for mild pneumonia and after ten days, completely recovered, was released and sent to home treatment. Conclusion. Prompt measures of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and multidisciplinary treatment in intensive care units significantly increase the chances of complete recovery of a patient with severe poisoning caused by drugs with cardiodepressive efects

Non-commutative SU(N) gauge theories and asymptotic freedom

In this paper we analyze the one-loop renormalization of the θ\theta-expanded SU(N)\rm SU(N) Yang-Mills theory. We show that the {\it freedom parameter} aa, key to renormalization, originates from higher order non-commutative gauge interaction, represented by a higher derivative term bhθμνF^μνF^ρσF^ρσ b h \theta^{\mu\nu}\hat F_{\mu\nu}\star\hat F_{\rho\sigma}\star\hat F^{\rho\sigma}. The renormalization condition fixes the allowed values of the parameter aa to one of the two solutions: a=1a=1 or a=3a=3, i.e. to b=0b=0 or to b=1/2b=1/2, respectively. When the higher order interaction is switched on, (a=3a=3), pure non-commutative SU(N) gauge theory at first order in θ\theta-expansion becomes one-loop renormalizable for various representations of the gauge group. We also show that, in the case a=3a=3 and the adjoint representation of the gauge fields, the non-commutative deformation parameter hh has to be renormalized and it is asymptotically free.Comment: 16 pages, no figure

F(1,...,1; 2,...,2,k,n)...By Borel's description, integral and mod 2 cohomology of ag manifolds is a polynomial algebra modulo a well-known ideal. In this doctoral dissertation, Gr obner bases for these ideals are obtained in the case of complex and real Grassmann manifolds, and real ag manifolds F(1; : : : ; 1; 2; : : : ; 2; k; n). In the case of Grassmann manifolds, Gr obner bases are applied in the study of Z- cohomology of complex Grassmann manifolds. It is well-known that, besides Borel's description, this cohomology can be characterized in terms of Schubert classes. By establishing a connection between this description and Gr obner bases that we obtained, a new recurrence formula that can be used for calculating (all) Kostka numbers is derived. Using the same method for the small quantum cohomology of Grassmann manifolds (instead of the classical), these formulas are improved. In the case of real ag manifoldsF(1,...,1; 2,...,2,k,n), Gr obner bases are used to obtain new results on the immersions and embeddings of these manifolds, and for the calculation of the cup-length of some manifolds of this type

In paper are presented some first results and experience in real time monitoring of line surge arresters installed on 110 kV transmission line Ston – Komolac in southern part of Croatia. Mentioned line is the first line in Croatian transmission network equipped with line surge arresters (LSA). The line with its length of 43,95 km is situated in region with high soil resistance, exposed to one of the highest level of lightning activity in Croatia. At the same time it is the most important line in connecting HPP Dubrovnik (240 MVA) to the main part of 110 kV transmission network. Due to all mentioned reasons and great number of annual outages, it was decided to equip the line with LSA for improving the lightning performance and the availability of line. As result of performed numerical simulations on simulation line model it was decided to install 110 kV gapless, IEC Class II line arresters. Also, to improve analysis of expected results the 61 line arresters were equipped with Excount-II type of monitoring sensors. The main goal was to determine the behaviour of line arresters arrangement across the line during overvoltage events on towers. This installed “realtime” monitoring system enables remote control and wireless exchange the collected data from local data logger installed on LSA. Line arresters activity is monitoring through numbers, date and time and level of surges and the condition state of LSA, through the measuring of leakage current. First results in application of LSA are showing significant reduction of line outages with registered relatively strong activity of monitored line arresters. Also, as it was expected some particular part of line is espied to be exposed to higher frequency and higher level of registered arresters surge current. During collecting the data of LSA activity, some practical problems were encountered with time synchronization between monitoring devices and it is mentioned and discussed in paper, too. Although the analysed time period of eight months with LSA application is too short to allow strong final conclusions, obtained first experience will be very helpful in assessment of further LSA application in Croatian transmission network

Pathogen control is re-emerging as a significant challenge to the health of both humans and animals. The livestock industry is in the process of massively replacing in-feed antibiotics with organic production friendly plant-based products. Nutrigenomics as a science of the effects of food constituents on gene expression is shedding more light on both benefits and detrimental side-effects of feed additive prolonged consumption on the host, indicating the need to understand the feed– host interactions and their influence on the host disease profile. In this study, we investigated the effects of 2% oregano powder supplementation on the liver gene expression in healthy male broilers from the hatch to 6 weeks of age. Deep RNAseq was performed on average 113.3 million paired and quality trimmed sequences per sample and four samples for the control and treatment each. The results demonstrate the severity of oregano effect on liver gene expression with substantial modifications in steroid hormone regulation, fat and carbohydrate metabolism alterations and strong influence on the host disease and function profile. Oregano supplementation was able to interfere with the transcriptional effects of a range of registered drugs and to significantly transcriptionally inhibit a range of cancer disease categories including liver cancer, and to modify fat and carbohydrate metabolism

The study analyses the role and impact of the event "Danube Fair" (Eastern Serbia) in the tourism progress of the less-advantaged border area. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the significance of the role of events in the tourism development of rural settings and the attraction of domestic and foreign visitors with the specific offer of this part of Serbia. The tourism valorization of the event “Danube Fair” was done according to the geographical and economic criteria, and it was determined that it belongs to the category of regional events. In the paper, special attention was paid to the analysis of tourists’ satisfaction with this event as a geographical criterion, especially in dependence with the visitors’ origin, since it is what the positioning of an event on the tourism market depends on, both on the local and on the international level. “Danube Fair” presents the example of a relatively small-scale event, which can become a basis of tourism growth, with proper valorization and affirmation of local products and services, and their introduction to the international tourism market. © 2020 Editura Universitatii din Oradea. On analytical solutions of f(R) modified gravity theories in FLRW cosmologies

    Get PDF
A novel analytical method for f(R) modified theories without matter in Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker spacetimes is introduced. The equation of motion for the scale factor in terms of cosmic time is reduced to the equation for the evolution of the Ricci scalar R with the Hubble parameter H. The solution of equation of motion for actions of the form of power law in Ricci scalar R, is presented with a detailed elaboration of the action quadratic in R. The reverse use of the introduced method is exemplified in finding functional forms f(R) which lead to specified scale factor functions. The analytical solutions are corroborated by numerical calculations with excellent agreement. Possible further applications to the phases of inflationary expansion and late-time acceleration as well as f(R) theories with radiation are outlined.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures. v2: minor changes, references added. v3: minor changes, more references added. v4: version to appear in IJMPD. v5: DOI and journal reference adde
