Old and New Fields on Super Riemann Surfaces
The ``new fields" or ``superconformal functions" on super Riemann
surfaces introduced recently by Rogers and Langer are shown to coincide with
the Abelian differentials (plus constants), viewed as a subset of the functions
on the associated super Riemann surface. We confirm that, as originally
defined, they do not form a super vector space.Comment: 9 pages, LaTex. Published version: minor changes for clarity, two new

Analysis of airborne Doppler lidar, Doppler radar and tall tower measurements of atmospheric flows in quiescent and stormy weather
The first experiment to combine airborne Doppler Lidar and ground-based dual Doppler Radar measurements of wind to detail the lower tropospheric flows in quiescent and stormy weather was conducted in central Oklahoma during four days in June-July 1981. Data from these unique remote sensing instruments, coupled with data from conventional in-situ facilities, i.e., 500-m meteorological tower, rawinsonde, and surface based sensors, were analyzed to enhance understanding of wind, waves and turbulence. The purposes of the study were to: (1) compare winds mapped by ground-based dual Doppler radars, airborne Doppler lidar, and anemometers on a tower; (2) compare measured atmospheric boundary layer flow with flows predicted by theoretical models; (3) investigate the kinematic structure of air mass boundaries that precede the development of severe storms; and (4) study the kinematic structure of thunderstorm phenomena (downdrafts, gust fronts, etc.) that produce wind shear and turbulence hazardous to aircraft operations. The report consists of three parts: Part 1, Intercomparison of Wind Data from Airborne Lidar, Ground-Based Radars and Instrumented 444 m Tower; Part 2, The Structure of the Convective Atmospheric Boundary Layer as Revealed by Lidar and Doppler Radars; and Part 3, Doppler Lidar Observations in Thunderstorm Environments
Supersymmetric Pair Correlation Function of Wilson Loops
We give a path integral derivation of the annulus diagram in a supersymmetric
theory of open and closed strings with Dbranes. We compute the pair correlation
function of Wilson loops in the generic weakly coupled supersymmetric flat
spacetime background with Dbranes. We obtain a -u^4/r^9 potential between heavy
nonrelativistic sources in a supersymmetric gauge theory at short distances.Comment: 18 pages, Revte
Prenex Separation Logic with One Selector Field
International audienceWe show that infinite satisfiability can be reduced to finite satisfiabil-ity for all prenex formulas of Separation Logic with k â„ 1 selector fields (SL k). This fact entails the decidability of the finite and infinite satisfiability problems for the class of prenex formulas of SL 1 , by reduction to the first-order theory of a single unary function symbol and an arbitrary number of unary predicate symbols. We also prove that the complexity of this fragment is not elementary recursive, by reduction from the first-order theory of one unary function symbol. Finally, we prove that the Bernays-Schönfinkel-Ramsey fragment of prenex SL 1 formulas with quantifier prefix in the language â * â * is PSPACE-complete
Social Preferences, Skill Segregation and Wage Dynamics
We study the earning structure and the equilibrium asignment of workers to firms in a model in which workers have social preferences, and skills are perfectly substitutable in production. Firms offer long-term contracts, and we allow for frictions in the labour market in the form of mobility costs. The model delivers specific predictions about the nature of worker flows, about the characteristic of workplace skill segregation, and about wage dispersion both within and cross firms. We shows that long-term contracts in the resence of social preferences associate within-firm wage dispersion with novel "internal labour market" features such as gradual promotions, productivity-unrelated wage increases, and downward wage flexibility. These three dynamic features lead to productivity-unrelated wage volatily within firms.Publicad
Self dual models and mass generation in planar field theory
We analyse in three space-time dimensions, the connection between abelian
self dual vector doublets and their counterparts containing both an explicit
mass and a topological mass. Their correspondence is established in the
lagrangian formalism using an operator approach as well as a path integral
approach. A canonical hamiltonian analysis is presented, which also shows the
equivalence with the lagrangian formalism. The implications of our results for
bosonisation in three dimensions are discussed.Comment: 15 pages,Revtex, No figures; several changes; revised version to

Thermal Fluctuations of Elastic Filaments with Spontaneous Curvature and Torsion
We study the effects of thermal flucutations on thin elastic filaments with
spontaneous curvature and torsion. We derive analytical expressions for the
orientational correlation functions and for the persistence length of helices,
and find that this length varies non-monotonically with the strength of thermal
fluctuations. In the weak fluctuation regime, the persistence length of a
spontaneously twisted helix has three resonance peaks as a function of the
twist rate. In the limit of strong fluctuations, all memory of the helical
shape is lost.Comment: 1 figur
