Tesis doctoral: Dinámica hidrológica de una cuenca pirenaica de campos abandonados con pinar en expansión (Alt Berguedà, Barcelona)

The Cal Parisa catchrnent is a representative example of agricultural abandoned terraced fields where forest is in clear expansion over these terraces. This process also occurs in other Pyrenean regions and european alpine landscapes. The surface forest of Cal Parisa basin has increased in area fiom 5 % in 1967 to 25 % in 1988. This fact could change the hydrological balance of this kind of region and would involve a discharge decrease in the rivers.Measurement of soil water content using the TDR method in the Cal Parisa basin during two years shows that the soil water content in forest areas is lower and statisticaily different in relation to gmssland areas. The interception effect and a Ggher evapotranspiration-of forest areas explains this Merent soil water content between grassland areas and forest areas. The runoff volume generated in fomt areas appears lower than terraced and non forested areas. This fact indicates a possible future decrease of human usable water if forest areas continue increasing as they are at present. At present the real evapotranspiration from the Cal Parsa catchment represents 80 % of the annual precipitation volume whde the runoff volume is about 20% of the annual precipitation volume. On the other hand, the forest areas have an important role in the runoff temporal distribution. The forest involves delayed and lower maxirnum hydrograph discharge in relation to terraced and grassland areas

Crustáceos decápodos de Las Hoyas (Cuenca) y del Montsec de Rúbies (Lleida). Calizas litográficas del Cretácico inferior de España

Three species of decapoda crustacean have been differentiated: one form belongs to the Astacidea infraorder (Psedastacus llopisi) and two forms belong to the Caridea infraorder. A new genus (Delclosia) for the last two forms and a new species for the form from Las Hoyas (Delclosia martinelli) are defined. Pseudastacus llopisiis present in both outcrops. Delclosia roselli is only present in the Montsec and Delclosia martinelli in Las Hoyas. Both outcrops (Montsec in Lleida and Las Hoyas in Cuenca) configurate the overall lithographic limestones from the Lower Cretaceous of Spain. The exceptional preservation of the forms and their high level of articulation and segment conexion, are indicative of good fossilitation conditions: a quiet aquatic environment and a quick burial with an early diagenethic mineralization

Nota preliminar sobre la tafonomía de la asociación fósil del Pleistoceno Medio en la Cova Gran (Serra del Montmell, Baix Penedès, NE de España)

The Cova Gran shows a fossil assemblage of vertebrates that for their characteristhics of fragmentation, differential  representation of bones and the presence of bites marks, indicates it was transported to the cave by some kind of predator. The presence of Microtus brecciensis-indicates it is Middle Pleistocene in age

Monitoring soil water content variability in the Cal Parisa basin (Alt Llobregat) with TDR. Experimental design and first results

    Get PDF
A small catchment on abandoned fields in the Pyrenees was monitored with the TDR method to evaluate the temporal and spatial variations of soil water content in relation with the hydrological response. The first results obtained over one year show a series of three periods of increasing wetness and three periods of decreasing wetness. Frequently saturated zones show high moisture values and stability over several rnonths, mesophile grassland zones show a wide and variable moisture range, and forested zones show the lowest soil moisture content

    Taphonomy

Trabajo presentado en el II International Symposium on Lithographic Limestones celebrado en Cuenca.-- Field trip guide book. The taphonomic anal ysis of the Las Hoyas site is still at an early stage. This analysis is necessary since it is considered a prerequisite for paleoecological reconstructions (Shipman, 1981). Besides, taphonomic analysis has its own aims; in this case they could be summarized as the establishment of the temporal succession of processes which led to the formation of the site.Peer reviewe
