Performance of novel silicon n-in-p planar Pixel Sensors

The performance of novel n-in-p planar pixel detectors, designed for future upgrades of the ATLAS Pixel system is presented. The n-in-p silicon sensors technology is a promising candidate for the pixel upgrade thanks to its radiation hardness and cost effectiveness, that allow for enlarging the area instrumented with pixel detectors. The n-in-p modules presented here are composed of pixel sensors produced by CiS connected by bump-bonding to the ATLAS readout chip FE-I3. The characterization of these devices has been performed before and after irradiation up to a fluence of 5 x 10**15 1 MeV neq cm-2 . Charge collection measurements carried out with radioactive sources have proven the functioning of this technology up to these particle fluences. First results from beam test data with a 120 GeV/c pion beam at the CERN-SPS are also discussed, demonstrating a high tracking efficiency of (98.6 \pm 0.3)% and a high collected charge of about 10 ke for a device irradiated at the maximum fluence and biased at 1 kV.Comment: Preprint submitted to Nuclear Instruments and Methods A. 7 pages, 13 figure

Sistem Pendukung Pengambilan Keputusan Pengadaan Obat Menggunakan Model Pareto ABC Dan Optimasi Kualitatif (Studi Kasus: Apotik PS)

Apotik PS sering mengalami kesulitan dalam mengambil keputusan untuk pengadaan obat. Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya faktor yang harus dipertimbangkan oleh pengelola apotik yaitu jumlah penjualan item obat, investasi, dan alokasi biaya. Pengelola apotik dituntut untuk menemukan cara mengendalikan pemesanan yang tepat dengan biaya yang optimal sehingga mengurangi terjadinya penumpukan obat dan menghindari masa kadaluarsa obat. Untuk itu dalam makalah ini diuraikan pengembangan sistem pendukung pengambilan keputusan pengadaan obat yang dapat memberikan rekomendasi pengadaan obat kepada pengelola apotik. Sistem dirancang dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan pengguna terkait proses analisis Pareto ABC, yaitu metode yang digunakan untuk analisis perencanaan sediaan. Sistem ini dibuat dalam bentuk aplikasi desktop menggunakan Pemrograman Java dan Database Management System MySQL. Model yang digunakan adalah metode analisis Pareto ABC dan optimasi kualitatif. Sistem telah diuji oleh pengguna dengan hasil bahwa sistem sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna dan rekomendasinya dapat mendukung pengambilan keputusan pengadaan obat di apotik

Detecting relevant tweets in very large tweet collections: the London Riots case study

In this paper we propose to approach the subject of detecting relevant tweets when in the presence of very large tweet collections containing a large number of different trending topics. We use a large database of tweets collected during the 2011 London Riots as a case study to demonstrate the application of the proposed techniques. In order to extract relevant content, we extend, formalize and apply a recent technique, called Twitter Topic Fuzzy Fingerprints, which, in the scope of social media, outperforms other well known text based classification methods, while being less computationally demanding, an essential feature when processing large volumes of streaming data. Using this technique we were able to detect 45% additional relevant tweets within the database

Novel Silicon n-in-p Pixel Sensors for the future ATLAS Upgrades

In view of the LHC upgrade phases towards HL-LHC the ATLAS experiment plans to upgrade the Inner Detector with an all silicon system. The n-in-p silicon technology is a promising candidate for the pixel upgrade thanks to its radiation hardness and cost effectiveness, that allow for enlarging the area instrumented with pixel detectors. We present the characterization and performance of novel n-in-p planar pixel sensors produced by CiS (Germany) connected by bump bonding to the ATLAS readout chip FE-I3. These results are obtained before and after irradiation up to a fluence of 10^16 1-MeV n_eq/cm^2, and prove the operability of this kind of sensors in the harsh radiation environment foreseen for the pixel system at HL-LHC. Circular Orbits in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

The stability under radial and vertical perturbations of circular orbits associated to particles orbiting a spherically symmetric center of attraction is study in the context of the n-dimensional: Newtonian theory of gravitation, Einstein's general relativity, and Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory of gravitation. The presence of a cosmological constant is also considered. Scaling and correlations in the dynamics of forest-fire occurrence

Forest-fire waiting times, defined as the time between successive events above a certain size in a given region, are calculated for Italy. The probability densities of the waiting times are found to verify a scaling law, despite that fact that the distribution of fire sizes is not a power law. The meaning of such behavior in terms of the possible self-similarity of the process in a nonstationary system is discussed.
