Study of hot deformation behavior of CuFe2 alloy

    Get PDF
Nil strength temperature of 1062 degrees C and nil ductility temperature of 1040 degrees C were experimentally set for CuFe2 alloy. The highest formability at approx. 1020 degrees C is unusable due to massive grain coarsening. The local minimum of ductility around the temperature 910 degrees C is probably due to minor formation of gamma-iron. In the forming temperatures interval 650-950 degrees C and strain rate 0.1-10 s(-1) the flow stress curves were obtained and after their analysis hot deformation activation energy of 380 kJ.mol(-1) was achieved. Peak stress and corresponding peak strain values were mathematically described with good accuracy by equations depending on Zener-Hollomon parameter.Web of Science64270670

    Get PDF
Yeasts represent a very diverse group of microorganisms, and even strains that are classified as the same species often show a high level of genetic divergence. Yeasts biodiversity is closely related to their applicability. Biotechnological importance of yeast is almost immeasurable. For centuries, people have exploited its enzymatic potential to produce fermented food as bread or alcoholic beverages. Admittedly, yeasts application was initially instinctual, but with science and technology development, these microorganisms got the object of thorough scientific investigations. It must be recognized that yeast represents an excellent scientific model because of its eukaryotic origin and knowledge of genetics of yeast cells as well as metabolism examined in detail. In 1996, the genome of baker yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been elucidated, what opened the opportunity for the global study of the expression and functioning of the eukaryotic genome. Also, currently, an international team is working on the synthesis of the 16 yeast chromosomes by synthetic biology tools, and the results are expected till the end of the year. Nowadays, yeast is regarded as a versatile tool for biotechnological purposes

Comparative study of fungal cell disruption—scope and limitations of the methods

    Get PDF
Simple and effective protocols of cell wall disruption were elaborated for tested fungal strains: Penicillium citrinum, Aspergillus fumigatus, Rhodotorula gracilis. Several techniques of cell wall disintegration were studied, including ultrasound disintegration, homogenization in bead mill, application of chemicals of various types, and osmotic shock. The release of proteins from fungal cells and the activity of a cytosolic enzyme, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, in the crude extracts were assayed to determine and compare the efficacy of each method. The presented studies allowed adjusting the particular method to a particular strain. The mechanical methods of disintegration appeared to be the most effective for the disintegration of yeast, R. gracilis, and filamentous fungi, A. fumigatus and P. citrinum. Ultrasonication and bead milling led to obtaining fungal cell-free extracts containing high concentrations of soluble proteins and active glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase systems

The topic of this Bachelor Thesis is knowledge of Polish people about benefits from health insurance. The most important thing was checking if society knows primary issue about it. Moreover, the purpose of the research was to verify awareness about benefits, which society can get, when risk of health arise. For that reason, research was performed by survey. Interviewees was in different age, have another background and various salary. It was done in order to check whether there is any relation between those factors and knowledge about health insurance. The research has shown that Polish society has cognisance about benefits from health insurance and there is dependence between attribute people and standard of knowledge

The subject of my thesis is an institution of civil budget, which nowadays is becoming more popular, not only in Poland but also in the whole world. The two aspects have been given- a legal and social one. As a result of them, it gives a background for complex definition its positive and negative aspects. What is more, comparison of functioning a civil budget in selected polish cities, help to examine of how this mechanism is working in practice, if it is actually necessary for local residents and if its potential is being used in our country

CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder (CDD)—Rare Presentation in Male

    No full text
CDKL5 deficiency disorder (CDD) is a developmental encephalopathy caused by pathogenic variants in the X-linked cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDKL5) gene. This rare disorder occurs more frequently in females than in males. The incidence is estimated to be approximately 1: 40,000–60,000 live births. So far, 50 cases have been described in boys. The clinical course in males tends to be more severe and is often associated with death in the first or second decade of life. The authors present an unreported 2.5-year-old male patient with drug-resistant epilepsy who was diagnosed with a de novo mutation in the CDKL5 gene. First seizures developed in the fifth week of life and have progressed steadily since then. The child’s psychomotor development was strongly delayed, and generalized hypotonia was noticed since birth. Brain MRI showed areas of incomplete myelination, posterior narrowing of the corpus callosum, a pineal cyst of up to 3 mm, and open islet lids. Intensive antiseizure medications (ASMs), a ketogenic diet, and steroid therapy were not successful. Short-term improvement was achieved with the implantation of a vagal nerve stimulator (VNS). Due to the progressive course of the disease, the boy requires frequent modification of ASMs

    No full text
Cyanobacteria are blue-green Gram-negative and photosynthetic bacteria which are seen as one of the most morphologically numerous groups of prokaryotes. Because of their ability to fix gaseous nitrogen and carbon dioxide to organic materials, they are known to play important roles in the universal nutrient cycle. Cyanobacteria has emerged as one of the promising resources to combat the issues of global warming, disease outbreaks, nutrition insecurity, energy crises as well as persistent daily human population increases. Cyanobacteria possess significant levels of macro and micronutrient substances which facilitate the versatile popularity to be utilized as human food and protein supplements in many countries such as Asia. Cyanobacteria has been employed as a complementary dietary constituent of feed for poultry and as vitamin and protein supplement in aquatic lives. They are effectively used to deal with numerous tasks in various fields of biotechnology, such as agricultural (including aquaculture), industrial (food and dairy products), environmental (pollution control), biofuel (bioenergy) and pharmaceutical biotechnology (such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressant, anticoagulant and antitumor); recently, the growing interest of applying them as biocatalysts has been observed as well. Cyanobacteria are known to generate a numerous variety of bioactive compounds. However, the versatile potential applications of cyanobacteria in biotechnology could be their significant growth rate and survival in severe environmental conditions due to their distinct and unique metabolic pathways as well as active defensive mechanisms. In this review, we elaborated on the versatile cyanobacteria applications in different areas of biotechnology. We also emphasized the factors that could impede the implementation to cyanobacteria applications in biotechnology and the execution of strategies to enhance their effective applications
