    A comparative overview of modal testing and system identification for control of structures

    A comparative overview is presented of the disciplines of modal testing used in structural engineering and system identification used in control theory. A list of representative references from both areas is given, and the basic methods are described briefly. Recent progress on the interaction of modal testing and control disciplines is discussed. It is concluded that combined efforts of researchers in both disciplines are required for unification of modal testing and system identification methods for control of flexible structures

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kerusakan tegakan tinggal akibat pemanenan kayo dengan teknik reduced impact logging (RIL) di hutan alam tropika. Penelitian dilakukan di areal PT Inhutani II, Kalimantan Timur. Petak penelitian ini masing-masing 3 (tiga) plot permanen dengan ukuran masing masing 100 m x 100 m. Plot-plot permanenlpengukuran diletakkan secara sistematis pada kedua petak penelitian sedemikian rupa sehingga mewakili tempat-tempat sebagai berikut: lokasi tempat pengumpulan kayu (TPN), di lokasi jalan sarad utama dan di lokasi jalan sarad cabang. Hasil inventarisasi tegakan menunjukkan bahwa potensi tegakan rata-rata pada petak pemanenan kayo konvensional dan RIL masing-masing sebesar 353,51 N/ha dan 362,67 N/ha. Jumlah kerusakan tegakan tinggal rata-rata akibat pemanenan kayu pada petak pemanenan kayu konvensional dan RIL masing masing sebesar 134,67 N/ha (38,10 %) dan 85,33 N/ha (23,52 %). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan diterapkan teknik pemanenan kayu RIL dapat mengurangi kerusakan tegakan tinggal tingkat tiang dan pohon sebesar 9,86 N/ha atau 36,61 % dari yang dihasilkan pada petak pemanenan kayo konvensional. Dengan demikian pemanenan kayu konvensional menyebabkan kerusakan tegakan tinggal lebih besar dibandingkan dengan teknik RIL. This research examined the effect of reduced impact logging (RIL) to residual stand damages in natural tropical forest. A research was done at natural tropical forest of PT Inhutani II. East Kalimantan. The effect of reduced impact logging to residual stand were studied using the data of three plots with each size 100 m x 100 m are placed based on purposive sampling at landing, main skiddtrail and branch skiddtrail. respectively. The results of the research showed that that the potency of commercial timber species in conventional logging and RIL were 353.51 N/ha and 362.7 N/ha. The number of residual stand damages caused by conventional logging and RIL were 134.67 Nlha (38./0 %) and 85.33 Nlha (23.52 %). Results of the research showed that reduced impact logging is reduced trees damages 9.86 Nlha (36.61 %) compared with conventional logging. These researches indicated that conventional logging in the tropical natural forest caused heavier damage on residual stand when compared with a reduced impact logging

    The low energy spectrum of the ferromagnetic Kondo lattice model on a N-site complete graph extended with on-site repulsion is obtained from the underlying spl(2,1) algebra properties in the strong coupling limit. The ferromagnetic ground state is realized for 1 and N+1 electrons only. We identify the large density of states to be responsible for the suppression of the ferromagnetic state and argue that a similar situation is encountered in the Kagome, pyrochlore, and other lattices with flat bands in their one-particle density of states.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur

    This research is motivated by the case of human rights violations during the massacre witches in Banyuwangi in 1998. The central government that when it is exposed to many issues require a diversion issues in other areas to divert attention began when the reform era turn of the new order of oligarchs capitalist towards a democratic state. Therefore, this study will analyze the motives brutality of human rights violations that led to the massacre of the witches. The purpose of this research that examines how government as the dominant party using a various social control to a group that dominated the society. This study used qualitative methods - descriptive. The subjects were the victims and the community leaders who concern about the problems of this massacre case. By using the theory of hegemony to explore the phenomenon of the role of the state to a case that comes to the human rights violations like this. Namely data collection techniques with direct observation to the test site and the literature to comparison be empirical research results also snowball technique purposive sampling. Based on the analysis of cases of human rights violations during the massacre witches in Banyuwangi 1998 as a whole is a game the government on the transfer issue. Turbulent political force people to accept an issue to distract him from the turmoil in the capital but did not go according to the destination.     Penyempurnaan Teknik Penyadapan Resin Pinus Dengan Metode Kuakan

    Penyadapan resin pinus yang berlebihan berupa ukuran kuakan yang terlalu lebar dan dalam serta menggunakan stimulansia anorganik menyebabkan pohon menjadi rusak dan mudah tumbang. Salah satu cara untuk mengurangi kerusakan pohon dan meningkatkan produksi resin pinus adalah dengan memodifikasi teknik penyadapan. Modifikasi teknik penyadapan dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan aspek ekonomi, ekologi, sosial dan teknis. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi lebar dan jumlah kuakan per pohon yang paling optimal, jenis stimulansia organik yang tepat, serta menganalisis biaya dari modifikasi teknik penyadapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik penyadapan berupa perbedaan jumlah kuakan per pohon dan lebar sadapan memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata terhadap produksi resin. Akan tetapi, perbedaan jenis stimulansia organik dan interaksinya dengan jumlah serta ukuran kuakan tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap produksi resin yang dihasilkan. Selain itu, modifikasi teknik penyadapan dan stimulansia berpengaruh terhadap biaya dan pendapatan dari pihak pengelola

    Field‐dependent linewidths and photoluminescence energies in GaAs‐AlGaAs multiquantum well modulators

    Photoluminescence linewidths and transition energies have been measured in GaAs‐AlGaAs multiple quantum wells with large (≄160 Å) barrier widths as a function of applied transverse electric field. The experimental data agree well with values calculated by using a recently developed variational technique. It is apparent that heterointerface roughness is the dominant line broadening mechanism. The emission intensity decreases rapidly with field, principally due to carrier tunneling at high fields.     IK-FA, a new heuristic inverse kinematics solver using firefly algorithm

    In this paper, a heuristic method based on Firefly Algorithm is proposed for inverse kinematics problems in articulated robotics. The proposal is called, IK-FA. Solving inverse kinematics, IK, consists in finding a set of joint-positions allowing a specific point of the system to achieve a target position. In IK-FA, the Fireflies positions are assumed to be a possible solution for joints elementary motions. For a robotic system with a known forward kinematic model, IK-Fireflies, is used to generate iteratively a set of joint motions, then the forward kinematic model of the system is used to compute the relative Cartesian positions of a specific end-segment, and to compare it to the needed target position. This is a heuristic approach for solving inverse kinematics without computing the inverse model. IK-FA tends to minimize the distance to a target position, the fitness function could be established as the distance between the obtained forward positions and the desired one, it is subject to minimization. In this paper IK-FA is tested over a 3 links articulated planar system, the evaluation is based on statistical analysis of the convergence and the solution quality for 100 tests. The impact of key FA parameters is also investigated with a focus on the impact of the number of fireflies, the impact of the maximum iteration number and also the impact of (a, ß, ¿, d) parameters. For a given set of valuable parameters, the heuristic converges to a static fitness value within a fix maximum number of iterations. IK-FA has a fair convergence time, for the tested configuration, the average was about 2.3394 × 10-3 seconds with a position error fitness around 3.116 × 10-8 for 100 tests. The algorithm showed also evidence of robustness over the target position, since for all conducted tests with a random target position IK-FA achieved a solution with a position error lower or equal to 5.4722 × 10-9.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
