The supersymmetric Penrose transform in six dimensions
We give a supersymmetric extension to the six-dimensional Penrose transform
and give an integral formula for the on-shell (0, 2) supermultiplet. The
relationship between super fields on space-time and twistor space is clarified
and the space-time superfield constraint equations are derived from the
geometry of supertwistor space. We also explain the extension to more general
(0,n) supermultiplets and give twistor actions for these theories.Comment: 20 page
Induction motor control system with voltage controlled oscillator circuit
A voltage controlled oscillator circuit is reported in which there are employed first and second differential amplifiers. The first differential amplifier, being employed as an integrator, develops equal and opposite slopes proportional to an input voltage, and the second differential amplifier functions as a comparator to detect equal amplitude positive and negative selected limits and provides switching signals which gate a transistor switch. The integrating differential amplifier is switched between charging and discharging modes to provide an output of the first differential amplifier which upon the application of wave shaping provides a substantially sinusoidal output signal. A two phased version with a second integrator provides a second 90 deg phase shifted output for induction motor control
Understanding the role of shame and its consequences in female hypersexual behaviours: A pilot study
Background and aims:
Hypersexuality and sexual addiction among females is a little understudied phenomenon. Shame is thought to be intrinsic to hypersexual behaviours, especially in women. Therefore, the aim of this study was to understand both hypersexual behaviours and consequences of hypersexual behaviours and their respective contributions to shame in a British sample of females (n = 102).
Methods:
Data were collected online via Survey Monkey.
Results:
Results showed the Sexual Behaviour History (SBH) and the Hypersexual Disorder Questionnaire (HDQ) had significant positive correlation with scores on the Shame Inventory. The results indicated that hypersexual behaviours (HBI and HDQ) were able to predict a small percentage of the variability in shame once sexual orientation (heterosexual vs. non-heterosexual) and religious beliefs (belief vs. no belief) were controlled for. Results also showed there was no evidence that religious affiliation and/or religious beliefs had an influence on the levels of hypersexuality and consequences of sexual behaviours as predictors of shame.
Conclusions:
While women in the UK are rapidly shifting to a feminist way of thinking with or without technology, hypersexual disorder may often be misdiagnosed and misunderstood because of the lack of understanding and how it is conceptualised. The implications of these findings are discussed
Overcoming change fatigue: lessons from Glasgow's National Health Service
Structured Abstract
Purpose of this paper
This paper explores the practicalities of organizational change in complex settings where much change has already occurred. It therefore offers insights into tackling and overcoming change fatigue.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper uses a longitudinal study of change within a healthcare organization. The paper draws on interviews, focus groups and observations during a 2.5 year long action research project.
Findings
The paper reports findings on the speed at which change takes place, the importance of communication and the burden placed on senior officers during such communication and consultation processes, the use of appropriate external resources and expertise, the benefits of sharing best practice across sectors and the role of academic researchers in change processes.
What is original/value of paper
The paper offers valuable insights to those charged with effecting organizational change in change fatigued settings
The Early Promise of TBRI Implementation in Schools
The program known as Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) began as an exploration into the detrimental behaviors of foster and adopted children placed in homes with unsuspecting caregivers who assumed their living environment would result in positive results rather than fear based emotions and behaviors. The researchers at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) at Texas Christian University held summer camps for adopted children and through that work developed an intervention to meet the needs of children who had experienced trauma. KPICD identifies these young people as “children from hard places” (Purvis & Cross, 2005). Copeland et al (2007) reported that an estimated 68% of children in the United States have experienced some sort of trauma. This astounding statistic holds great meaning for teachers and administrators, because these children from hard places routinely manifest aggressive and undesired behaviors due to an altering of their physiology. The literature on TBRI® at this point mostly has chronicled success with families, group homes and summer camps (McKenzie, Purvis, & Cross, 2014; Howard, Parris, Neilson, Lusk, Bush, Purvis & Cross, 2014; Purvis & Cross, 2006). TBRI® has only recently been implemented in school settings. This report provides an overview of the impacts of trauma, trauma related work in schools, and the four articles published to this point related to the use of TBRI® in schools
To sell or not to sell? Behavior of shareholders during price collapses
It is a common belief that the behavior of shareholders depends upon the
direction of price fluctuations: if prices increase they buy, if prices
decrease they sell. That belief, however, is more based on ``common sense''
than on facts. In this paper we present evidence for a specific class of
shareholders which shows that the actual behavior of shareholders can be
markedly different.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure. To appear in International Journal of Modern

Controlling entanglement by direct quantum feedback
We discuss the generation of entanglement between electronic states of two
atoms in a cavity using direct quantum feedback schemes. We compare the effects
of different control Hamiltonians and detection processes in the performance of
entanglement production and show that the quantum-jump-based feedback proposed
by us in Phys. Rev. A {\bf 76} 010301(R) (2007) can protect highly entangled
states against decoherence. We provide analytical results that explain the
robustness of jump feedback, and also analyse the perspectives of experimental
implementation by scrutinising the effects of imperfections and approximations
in our model.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures. To appear in PR
