The main idea of this research is to make the concept of intellectual capital as the most valuable intangible assets for the company. Basically, tangible assets which is owned by the company is also controlled by humans. This study offers Islamic Banking-Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (IB-VAICTM) modified the model pulic by Ulum (2013) as a performance measurement of intellectual capital of Islamic banking in Indonesia. This study also makes Islamic banks rank in term of Best Performance Index (BPI) which is measured using IB-VAICâ„¢. The data used are annual reports, particularly financial performance and balance sheet, obtained either through the official website of each bank as well as from BI website. This study finds that during the study period (2010-2014), the overall performance of Islamic banking in Indonesia in the category of "good performers" with a score of VAIC 2.57. The results also indicates that individual banks that including into the category of "top performers" are three (3) banks, "good performers" 4 (four) Bank and "common performers" 4 (four) Bank. The limitations of this study is that the data used only 11 (eleven) Commercial Bank (BUS) in Indonesia, while the overall number of banks per January 2015 was 197

    Get PDF

Dark matter models for the 511 keV galactic line predict keV electron recoils on Earth

We propose models of Dark Matter that account for the 511 keV photon emission from the Galactic Centre, compatibly with experimental constraints and theoretical consistency, and where the relic abundance is achieved via p-wave annihilations or, in inelastic models, via co-annihilations. Due to the Dark Matter component that is inevitably upscattered by the Sun, these models generically predict keV electron recoils at detectors on Earth, and could naturally explain the excess recently reported by the XENON1T collaboration. The very small number of free parameters make these ideas testable by detectors like XENONnT and Panda-X, by accelerators like NA64 and LDMX, and by cosmological surveys like the Simons observatory and CMB-S4. As a byproduct of our study, we recast NA64 limits on invisibly decaying dark photons to other particles

Purpose To audit the use of GIK in terms of safety, haemodynamic effects, and impact on catecholamine dosage. Materials and methods A retrospective, descriptive, evaluative audit of GIK use within the adult ICU of a London teaching hospital was conducted. Rescue therapy of GIK (up to 1.0 Units insulin/kg/h) was administered to improve cardiac function. Outcomes were ICU survival, change in cardiac index (CI) and blood lactate levels, events of hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, hypokalaemia and hyperkalaemia, and discontinuation time of catecholamine inotropes. Results Of 85 patients treated with GIK, 13 (15.3%) survived their ICU stay and 9 (10.5%) were discharged home. In patients surviving until 72 h, a trend of improved CI and lactate levels was seen, often with reductions in catecholamine dosing. Inotropes were discontinued in 35 (54%) patients. Severe hypoglycaemia ( 20 mmol/l), hypokalaemia ( 7 mmol/l) during GIK affected 1, 6, 8 and 1 patients, respectively. These abnormalities were quickly identified. No measurable harm was noted. Conclusions High-dose GIK can be safely used in critically ill patients, though blood glucose and potassium levels must be monitored frequently. GIK was associated with improved CI and blood lactate levels. Impact on survival requires prospective evaluation

We use Super-K data to place new strong limits on interactions of sub-GeV Dark Matter (DM) with nuclei, that rely on the DM flux inevitably induced by cosmic-ray upscatterings. We derive analogous sensitivities at Hyper-K and DUNE and compare them with others, e.g. at JUNO. Using simplified models, we find that our proposal tests genuinely new parameter space, allowed both by theoretical consistency and by other direct detection experiments, cosmology, meson decays and our recast of monojet. Our results thus motivate and shape a new physics case for any large volume detector sensitive to nuclear recoils

Vascular endothelial growth factor directly inhibits primitive neural stem cell survival but promotes definitive neural stem cell survival

    Get PDF
There are two types of neural stem cells (NSCs). Primitive NSCs [leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) dependent but exogenous fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 2 independent] can be derived from mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells in vitro and from embryonic day 5.5 (E5.5) to E7.5 epiblast and E7.5-E8.5 neuroectoderm in vivo. Definitive NSCs (LIF independent but FGF2 dependent) first appear in the E8.5 neural plate and persist throughout life. Primitive NSCs give rise to definitive NSCs. Loss and gain of functions were used to study the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A and its receptor, Flk1, in NSCs. The numbers of Flk1 knock-out mice embryo-derived and ES cell-derived primitive NSCs were increased because of the enhanced survival of primitive NSCs. In contrast, neural precursor-specific, Flk1 conditional knock-out mice-derived, definitive NSCs numbers were decreased because of the enhanced cell death of definitive NSCs. These effects were not observed in cells lacking Flt1, another VEGF receptor. In addition, the cell death stimulated by VEGF-A of primitive NSC and the cell survival stimulated by VEGF-A of definitive NSC were blocked by Flk1/Fc-soluble receptors and VEGF-A function-blocking antibodies. These VEGF-A phenotypes also were blocked by inhibition of the downstream effector nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B). Thus, both the cell death of primitive NSC and the cell survival of definitive NSC induced by VEGF-A stimulation are mediated by bifunctional NF-kappa B effects. In conclusion, VEGF-A function through Flk1 mediates survival (and not proliferative or fate change) effects on NSCs, specifically

Preference test of green leafhopper (GLH) Nephotettix virescens Distant to some tungro-resistant promising lines. Tungro is the most important diseases of the rice plant, caused by two types of viruses, namely Rice Tungro Bacilliform Virus (RTBV) and Rice Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV), transmitted by green leafhopper (GLH) especially Nephotettix virescens Distant in a semi- persistent manner. The aim of this research was to study some of the varieties dislike (resistant) to GLH and resistant to rice tungro virus. The study was conducted on Januari to August 2019 at Green House of Indonesian Tungro Disease Research Station and at farmer’s field in Polman West Sulawesi. The experiment in the green house was preference and survival test using a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The materials consisted of 48 tungro-resistant promising lines and 2 varieties as a check. The field experiment using an augmented design with four blocks. Every block consisted of 20 promising lines and four varieties of checks (Ciherang, Tukad Unda, Inpari 9 Elo, and IR 64). Variables observed were the number of GLH present and survival in promising lines, the population of GLH at the field, the percentage of tungro incidence, the filled with spikelet number, the unfilled of spikelet number, the weight of 1000 grain, and the grain yield at 14% moisture content. The results showed that ten promising lines was dislike (resistant) to GLH and resistant to rice tungro virus with the percentage of tungro incidence lower or equal than resistant check varieties (Inpari 9) and had high yield potential (6,2 – 10,2 t/ha).Tungro merupakan penyakit penting tanaman padi yang disebabkan oleh dua jenis virus, yaitu Rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) dan Rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) yang keduanya ditularkan oleh wereng hijau Nephotettix virescens Distant secara semipersisten.
